Simply say, “In order to rescue the victim (i.e., the dog) from the brutality being committed by the perpetrator, I had to defend myself. I simply put my arms up to stop his advance and to keep him from perpetrating the same violence against me as I witnessed him perpetrating against the victim (i.e., the dog again).”You do not have to do this at all; and, you don’t have to do it to “cover your a**.” You did absolutely, positively nothing wrong—as I stated at the beginning of my answer.Please continue to be fearless and agile and vigilant in the defense of the defenseless. While the police incident report is the foundation of the investigation into a crime, it certainly isn't necessary to obtain an arrest warrant.The information necessary to obtain the warrant is on a request form. That form must be reviewed by a judge, signed by him, and only after that is it able to be served.After the warrant is served, incident and investigative reports can be completed.
