PDF Editor FAQ

What's the hardest part about getting older?

Then,Mom - “Get up!! You'll be late for school. I woke up at 5am for you!!”Now,Me - *wakes up silently so that I don't disturb my sleeping mother, prepares everything myself, kisses ma on the forehead and leaves for work*.Then,Mom - “How was school today? Did you eat your Tiffin?”Now,Mom - “You look sad, is everything all right beta?”Then,Mom- *shouting at the top of her voice* “Do your homework idiot!!!! You never study!!”Now,Mom - *watching me tensed* “Is there too much work pressure?”Then,Mom- “Durga puja is coming, let's go shopping; I'll buy you new clothes!”Now,Me - *shouting my lungs out* “Maaaaa!!!!! I brought new saree's for you!! Wear this and show me how you look!!”Then,Mom - “Here take your pocket money. Spend it wisely!”Now,Me - “ Maa, keep this money. Spend it anyway you want, also let me know if you need more!”Then,Me - “ ABC is my best friend!”Now,Me - “ Ma, only you are my best friend!!”The hardest part about growing older is watching our parents ageng in front of our eyes, and realising that we've grown up a little too much. That we've taken up every responsibility of the household. Besides reaching to office at time to submitting projects within deadlines, we've also learnt to take our parents for checkup as well as pay bills and rents. From crying at the silliest things to holding back our tears, we've grown up. Most importantly, we've learnt what is life!

Which childish things you still do?

I’m 16 and I still trick or treat on Halloween. I know over here it’s kind of an unwritten rule to not trick or treat if you’re older than 14, but I break it anyways because I love making my own costume every year and wearing it!Sing the ABC song in my head whenever I’m trying to organize something in alphabetical orderRead some of my old school textbooks in a Mario voice. “Exercise-a #1: Read all of-a the following examples-a, and-e write all your answers in-a the space-a below. Let’s-a go! Wahoo!” It’s one of my favorite voices to imitate.Run around the carpet for no reason, and step on a specific design on the carpet as I’m going aroundMake cuter versions of myself while playing dress up gamesThis model of myself that I made is from a game called “Mega Geek Girl Creator”.Boop my sister’s nose and invent pet names for her like “dorby shlorby”Do a crazy victory dance whenever I hear good news about somethingTake those online personality quizzes. The last one I took was called “What Billie Eilish song are you”?Make a wish every time an eyelash falls off of my face. But I don’t tell anyone, because if I did, it wouldn’t come true. ;)Play minigames on the Cartoon Network websiteWhenever someone knocks on the door/rings a doorbell, I tend to shout stuff like “Mommy, someone’s at the door!” That, unfortunately, can be pretty dangerous.Try not to step on the cracks on the sidewalk when I’m walking outsideFYI, that picture isn’t mineAdd unhealthy portions of sugar into my tea, and sometimes eat some extra off the container. I’ve been doing it since I was little, but sometimes old habits never die..Watch cartoons whenever I’m in a hotel room and I’m bored, like Spongebob, Gravity Falls or The Amazing World of GumballWhenever I play video games alone in my basement where nobody can hear me, I occasionally do the voices for the characters and read almost all the dialogue just like themSleep with dolls, especially this adorable cutie:Yes, I got that exact plushie doll when I was little. Yes, I think I may still be obsessed with Mario. No, this picture isn’t mine.

How important is sending kids to preschool/daycare? Is it really necessary to send kids to daycare when the mother is at home as a housewife? Is there anything they teach there that we can’t at home?

I'm surprised to read such negative answers so far, since our experience was so positive. I imagine it very much comes down to the type and quality of preschool available. In the UK, the huge majority of children attend some sort of preschool before starting school. They play with other children, do messy play and crafts, go in outings and play in the outdoor space that every nursery or preschool has, and generally seem to have a very good time. They aren't under any pressure to perform, although some skills are taught in preparation for starting school (eg, hanging your coat on a named peg).In my son's case, it was his preschool key worker who first flagged up the queries that eventually led to him having a diagnosis of autism before he started school. This made a huge difference to the level of support he was able to access as soon as he started school, without which things would have been much harder.Parents can certainly teach the ABCs, colours and so on, but a parent cannot be 15 other three year olds. Nor is a parent usually an unbiased adult who is trained to care for this age group. Children in preschool have to learn other ways of managing conflict and coping with challenges than the ones they use at home, and I think that's strongly positive.Of course, that's assuming competent carers and a suitable physical environment. I realise that not everyone has that, but if you do have a good preschool near you it's well worth taking advantage of it.Something that has been mentioned in other answers is the idea of preschool not being a substitute for parental time and engagement.Of course it isn't, just like school isn't. But my son got both - he had input from preschool AND he had input from me. And from his dad, and my parents, and his uncles and aunts, our friends, etc etc. Children can and should have input from multiple sources. The idea that you're somehow being less of a parent by allowing your child to benefit* from other sources of knowledge is simply nonsensical.*again, assuming the standard of the preschool is such that they would benefit.
