PDF Editor FAQ

If Prince George were to be gay, would his future husband be a king consort when Prince George became king?

Gosh, and I only just finished another of these: Dave Cridland's answer to Why are the female spouses of British Monarchs given the Title Queen (ex. Mary of Teck and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon) while the male spouses are only titled Prince (Phillip or Albert)? So, King George VII ascends to the throne (maybe, he might be King George IX, who knows). He proudly stands on the balcony after his coronation, and waves to the crowd, beside his husband. I have made up the name “Steve Surname”, though he’d have most likely dropped his surname on marriage, and we’ll assume he did.The press make jokes about Steve being a Queen, but what do we really call him? The Crown hasn’t used the title or style of King Consort since Mary, Queen of Scotland’s husband Henry Stuart had it. It’s been a little tainted by that, and England never used it at all.Prior to George’s ascension, HRH Prince Steve was known as “Steve”. Everyone referred to him as “Prince Steve”, but his actual title was “Prince George”, which is so confusing nobody used it. Now George is King, he’s formally “HRH Prince Stephen”, based on a precedent set by Prince Albert, and itself probably based on a misinterpretation of Prince George’s title, Anne’s husband, who was actually a Prince of Denmark and Norway in his own right anyway. But these are only defaults, and mere styles at that. In our speculative future history, we can do better than that, surely? It’s more likely that Steve, upon his marriage to Prince George, gets a Duchy. King William V, pleased at his son’s marriage, creates Stephen Surname the Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale. It’s a passing nod to the husband of Queen Anne, but the press have a field day with jokes about sausage. Everyone still calls him “Prince Steve” though he’s formally “Duke of Cumberland” in England, and “Duke of Teviotdale” in Scotland. So now, the balcony being in England, King George VII and the Duke of Cumberland stand there - Duke takes precedence over a courtesy title of Prince. This is also confusing, so King George VII, based on the precedent of his great-grandmother, creates Steve a Prince of the United Kingdom, and thus he becomes “HRH The Prince Stephen, Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale”.(Actually, that Duchy isn’t extinct, but is held by Prince Ernst August of Hanover, although it’s suspended. I’d change it, but I liked the allusion to Queen Anne’s husband as well as the gag about sausage too much.)

Can Prince George be king as a child?

Can Prince George be King as a child?Yes, he can. He could have been King at birth if HM The Queen, HRHs Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales and Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge (his great grandmother, grandfather, and father, respectively) had died before he was born.He becomes King immediately regardless of his age, but a Regent is appointed until he reaches the age of majority which is 18. The Regent performs the Monarch’s duties during the Monarch’s minority. His Regent today - as defined by the Regency Act of 1937 - would be his uncle, HRH Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex. The Regency Act passed by Parliament in 1937 provides continuing authority for a Regency. It is no longer necessary to pass a separate act each time a regency is needed or may be needed like when a Queen Regnant is pregnant.Regency Acts - Wikipedia tells us:The Acts currently in force governing the cases in which a Regency shall come into existence and when a Regency shall cease, the determination of who shall be Regent and the powers of such Regent are the Regency Act 1937, the Regency Act 1943, and the Regency Act 1953, jointly referred to as the "Regency Acts 1937 to 1953". . .In 1936, George VI (George V's second son) had become King, with his elder daughter, Princess Elizabeth, as heir presumptive. However, Elizabeth was under the age of 18, leading to the need for a new Regency Act.Rather than pass a specific Regency Act relating to the death or incapacity of George VI only, Parliament passed the Regency Act 1937 (1 Edw. 8 & 1 Geo. 6 c. 16), which provided for the incapacity or minority of all future monarchs. It also repealed the Lords Justices Act 1837, and established in statute the office of Counsellor of State, to be appointed during the monarch's absence abroad, or temporary illness not amounting to complete incapacity. The Act required that the regent should be the next person in the line of succession who was:over the age of 21,a British subject domiciled in the United Kingdom, andcapable of succeeding to the Crown under the terms of the Act of Settlement 1701.The Counsellors of State were to consist of:the consort of the monarch andthe next four people in the line of succession over the age of 21.Thus, at the time of the passing of the Act, Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester would have become Regent in the event that King George VI died while The Princess Elizabeth was still a minor. The current prospective regent under the Act, who would assume the functions of Regent should Queen Elizabeth II become incapacitated, would be her eldest son Charles, Prince of Wales. How a regency would be handled in 2019 and beyond is also explained. See bold, italics which show who would become Prince George’s Regent should he become King prior to age 18:RegencyAs of 2019, under the provisions of the Regency Acts in force, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, would act as regent in the event of the incapacity of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The next person in the line of succession, the Prince of Wales' elder son Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, would also be able to succeed without necessitating a regency and would be eligible to be regent for his grandmother or his father. As of 2019, the first person under the age of 18 in ** the line of succession** to the throne is William's son Prince George of Cambridge, who is third in line to the throne after his grandfather and father. If the prince were to succeed to the throne before his 18th birthday on 22 July 2031, his uncle, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (the Prince of Wales' younger son), would serve as regent, as George's younger siblings Charlotte and Louis (currently fourth and fifth in line, respectively) would also be minors. In the event that Prince Harry would be unable to serve as regent, the next in line would be his uncle (Prince George's grand-uncle) Prince Andrew, Duke of York, followed by the Duke of York's elder daughter Princess Beatrice of York.** Read more about the Line of Succession here:Succession to the British throne - Wikipedia:Succession to the British throne is determined by descent, sex (for people born on or before 28 October 2011), legitimacy, and religion. Under common law, the Crown is inherited by a sovereign's children or by a childless sovereign's nearest collateral line. The Bill of Rights 1689 and the Act of Settlement 1701 restrict succession to the throne to the legitimate Protestant descendants of Sophia of Hanover who are in "communion with the Church of England". [1]Spouses of Roman Catholics were disqualified from 1689 until the law was amended in 2015. Protestant descendants of those excluded for being Roman Catholics are eligible. [2]The article provides the first 59 heirs to the Throne; direct descendants of King George V, King Edward VIII (became King, abdicated, had no issue), King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.This link, Home Page, is the Line of Succession as of January 1, 2011, and lists 5,753 Heirs and there are more than that today. The Line of Succession and Acts of Parliament always provide for the next Monarch and Regent, if needed. There is no lack of Heirs! Thanks for the A2A, Mayank Tyagi!

Does Prince George already know he will have to be King?

I believe that whilst all the Royal family are made aware of their life long duties, the most likely heir to the throne is “trained” from early on to fulfill the requirements of how their lives will be shaped to be the monarch with all the responsibilities of the job.Our current Queen (Gawd bless ‘er) was born in 1926 and did not expect to be the monarch. Her Uncle Edward VIII was a fascist sympathising wastrel but became king for a few month then abdicated forcing his sickly and ill-equipped younger brother to replace him becoming George VI from 1936 until his premature death in 1952 - ruling the UK and Empire through the most difficult years of WW2 (and doing a damned fine job). His daughter, Elizabeth replaced him at age 26 but has proven to be the longest ever reign and totally committed her life to the UK and commonwealth, and may well continue to rule until in her 100s (her Mum died at 102)So, let’s assume she does then Charles will take over in 2028! He will then be 80!If he lives to 102 (?) that will be 2050, William will be 68 and George will be 37.So, we don’t know whether the line will continue in a straight line as it were.

For us, CocoDoc is the best and most convenient way to pull feedback from our employees and to collect information from our applicants. Since I started using it, my experience and satisfaction have only increased. I use it for work and also recommend it to many of my friends, working in different fields. Most of them were impresses by the capabilities of the platform. They just couldn't imagine that a form platform could some such complex needs. I would love to see payment processing tools that work in Chile (like mercadopago). That has been stopping to take the next big step. Besides that, it has just been a joyful journey. Thanks a lot for your support!
