There is no point in keeping a paper which is only of qualifying nature.Bring out an official answer key for Prelims one day after the examination so that candidates can know their exact scores and take a decision whether to prepare for mains or not.MainsRemove Optional. It does not serve any purpose. Additionally, it creates a huge disparity between aspirants having different optionals. The syllabus, difficulty level and scores of different optionals are so different that the choice of optional creates a decisive impact on your selection.Remove language papers of Hindi and English. Every candidate is fluent in the medium in which he/she writes mains exam. In addition, the state language of respective cadre has to be learned. The language papers only add burden during the Mains time. As if 7 papers are not sufficient, you add 2 more.Declare marks of Mains examination along with the result of Mains at least for candidates not getting an interview call and preferably for everyone.The mark sheet should have marks section-wise for the essay and both papers of optional.The checked answer sheets of toppers of previous years should be uploaded on the UPSC website. This will help candidates in understanding the requirements of the exam.InterviewDAF or the detailed examination form is required for the interview and not the mains exam. There is no point in making 10,000 people fill DAF, which can be released after mains exam only for interview selected people.Cadre preference can be asked after the selected candidates enter foundation course so that they have an idea what they are filling.GeneralThe selection process for IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS can be separated from other services. Such a thorough, rigorous selection process is not required for services like Ordnance Factories Service or Armed Forces Headquarters Service or other such services. This will bring down the number of vacancies and number of people to be interviewed making the whole selection process much faster.If the patter or the syllabus of examination is changed, the changes much be informed to candidates beforehand and should be implemented from next year. The sudden bomb of syllabus change dropped in 2013 or removing CSAT in 2015 should not be done.Thanks.:)

I was a UX design intern at Google main headquarters, Mountain View in Summer 2013.Intern applications at Google are pretty much straightforward - either Google would approach your university through official channels for intern recruitment, or you can apply for the position through Google Jobs.Although Google did visit my campus (IIT Guwahati) for intern recruitment sometime in September 2012, they did not have any openings for UX Designers at that point of time. Openings for UX design interns at Mountain View were released sometime in the month of October (on Google Jobs). I applied through this channel early in December, once I was convinced and confident about my resume and portfolio. The application form on the website is pretty much straightforward - a cover letter, a resume and a portfolio link. I believe the resume is the most critical here - it is the most common & preferred way to scrutinize candidates for shortlisting for further rounds.I received a notification from Google for my first round of interview around January 15th. I had my interview on January 23rd, which lasted for around 45 minutes over Hangouts. I then received a confirmation for two more rounds of interviews on Jan 30th, this time telephonic. These were held on January 31st and Feb 5th respectively, and each lasted around 45 minutes again. I then received my final confirmation of acceptance on February 12 with the offer letter coming in the next day.The interviews were a lot of fun - it never felt as if you were being scrutinized. Almost all of them involved a portfolio walk through wherein 1 - 2 of my major projects were discussed. Overall, the best advice I could give to prepare for these interviews is to be thorough with your resume, portfolio and projects. Needless to say, it's also handy to keep pen / paper handy and be in a quiet place for your telephonic interviews.Overall, the process was extremely smooth, transparent and most importantly, swift. Post acceptance, Google also provided assistance in obtaining my J-1 Visa, arrangements for housing, flight tickets etc. My internship began in the first week of May and lasted for 12 weeks.
