What do you think about the central government's decision to merge NSSO and CSO?

As an NSSO (and government) employee, I can’t really comment on the political aspect of the merger. All I would want to say is:I just hope they think about us. By us, I mean, the ground level workers who go door to door for data collection. The biggest problem for us: there’s no advertisement of any survey that’s going on. When we approach households, they are clueless. On my recent sample in a very posh urban area in Nagpur, people slammed doors on my face.It made me feel very bad a lot of times. I even cried on an evening.Anyone would feel bad working in 46 degrees and more, blisters on feet, going around, sometimes even without eating anything, only to be slammed doors at.Here, I’ll take some advantage of my online presence to tell you about the present NSSO ROUND.This round is on land and livestock holdings of agricultural households in rural areas and debt and investment in both rural and urban areas. All information is kept confidential. This data is of utmost importance to national policy making and painting a true picture of the country. If an officer comes to your door, please be kind enough to contribute your bit by giving true data. :)I just hope, this merger, strengths the way our organisation works and collects data. At least, advertise surveys. We deserve to feel like humans too, when we knock your doors.

What is it like to work at Apple?

Working for Apple has been idealized by media, movies, etc.. People I met in the San Jose/San Fran area had stars in their eyes when they found I worked for all-Mighty Apple.Sure they have great benefits for employees. The best. They have great food for employees. They even pay for dinner for certain engineering teams, if they stay past 7. Every reward comes with a price. Staying late is rewarded, even when you could easily finish your work and collaborations and go home. Work life balance is something they pretend to care about, but they do not. In fact, they pretend to care about a lot of things that they don’t.The headhunting, the interview process, and the hiring process all have you feeling as though you are about to work with many brilliant people on things that are important to you. The fact of the matter is, you will be on a team that may or may not want to collaborate.Every person is the “smartest person in the room.” Everyone is a leader. You have your suck-ups who will run to senior management with every issue, and who will be rewarded for doing so.I was the only Ph.D. on my team. My manager asked that no one call me “Dr” because that’s not the “Apple way.” In fact, this happened because one team member complained that the team didn’t know who was “in charge” because I was a Ph.D. He was apparently threatened. Funnily enough, I found there are many other teams within special projects who have PhDs, and no issues. I wasn’t asking my team to refer to me as “dr.” My “teammate” had a problem with me being introduced as “dr” during meetings. He was supposed to be in charge apparently.I made the mistake of questioning data that had been collected. Part of my job was to analyze data and data collection methods. The data was not standardized, which is something very simple. That one question put me on the bad side of my manager. He moved me to another team, and had me working on projects that I did not really want to work on. I sucked it up- I was put in my place. There are lots of brilliant people at Apple, but there are also many self-serving backstabbers who want to see you fail, just like with many corporate cultures. The management want to rest on their past laurels and tell you all they have accomplished. They are regarded as “Gods” of apple. One that I worked with actually told me that he would threaten the license of contracted workers (nurses) we used in data collection, among many other callous things. The thing that made me reevaluate my life and work schedule- I was in an auto accident on my way to work one morning, after being at Apple a while. I was being loaded in an ambulance and all I could say/think was that I needed my phone to call work. The EMS crew and police reassured me that they would get my phone and call. Even so, as soon as they gave me my phone, I called, emailed etc. from the hospital. It was over two days later before anyone checked on me. Even then, it was probably only because I called again to say I guess they didn’t care that I was in the hospital. That really put things in perspective for me. It shows how important you really are, and how expendable and replaceable you are, even at Apple Corporate.

How can the May 7, 2015 federal appeals court decision ruling NSA data collection to be illegal affect Edward Snowden?

I don't believe this ruling has any effect on Mr. Snowden, aside from the PR upside.Even assuming the programs are illegal, Mr. Snowden is not absolved from leaking their existence to media sources. I'm not affiliated with the intelligence community, but I understand that employees that see classified information have appropriate channels to report perceived wrongs. Such channels do not, as far as I know, include providing such information to journalists, and leaking classified information is still a crime.

Feedbacks from Our Clients

Intuitive to use, clients and staff like it, I could customise the colour scheme to match my branding, and it's well priced.
