PDF Editor FAQ

I once used baby powder that contained Talc on my Foot Reflexology clients, but I changed to Cornstarch baby powder. My friend informed me that Talc powder could cause lung cancer. Was he right?

You umm you got me on this one. I honestly do not believe that you you yourself would be at risk for lung caner as you only used it once. I think that you would have to have long term exposure to it so constantly breathing it in everyday could maybe put you at risk.I honestly don’t know as this is a very debatable topic I don’t know if there were any actual links or not. I know that there are some concerns but I’m not sure about a possible link.I do however know that their is a link between Talcum powder and overlain cancer in women who have had long term use of the Product on their genitals. If you or your friend really are concerned about your risk or developing cancer of any kind I highly recommend consulting your doctor as they are the ones that can give you a clear answer as well as check you.I’m sorry I couldn’t be much help, but I hope you do have a wonderful day.

When being treated for aromatherapy, what does the patient do?

If you are coming in for a treatment, not just for a consultation and products to use at home (this is also common) then read on. Prior to our appointment, I’d have you fill out a short form stating your reason for coming, allergies, any surgeries, injuries and medications you’re currently taking. That is for your benefit and my protection. You’ll be guided by your Aromatherapist on your treatment throughout. As for a session with me personally and I’ll keep it simple by hypothetically saying you’re coming in for stress relief and tension release. While you’re changing into a robe or comfortable clothing, I would review your paperwork and choose Essential Oils I feel appropriate based on your current medications and allergies so contraindications would not be a concern later. I would then pour you some infused water and discuss your concerns while you have a chance to calm yourself and release the world you left to become present in the treatment you’re experiencing. Some of the things that may be done are a rosemary and peppermint scalp massage, a pressure point facial massage with helichrysum and grape seed oil, wrapping your arms and legs in warm moist lavender and rosemary towels for circulation and relaxation, placement of warm moist towels on your lower back with cypress or eucalyptus, placement of geranium and rose towels around your neck and décolletage then a cool wrap over your face. There are many different things that can be done. Sometimes a body scrub, bath or foot soak, body massage, or reflexology are things that can be done that work best.A full appointment with an aromatherapist is about 80 mins, especially the first time to see what is best and determined a course of action. Most practicing Aromatherapists are trained in holistic approaches to healing. That’s not a treatment in place of a medical doctor but treatment in addition to or prior to medical intervention. It’s your Aromatherapist’s job to determine your needs based on the concerns you have and the feedback he/she receives. After your treatment, you may be able to take home a sample of the personal blends that were made for you or you may purchase them for home use. I have clients that I ship to regularly. Some order personalized body scrubs, deodorants, rollerballs personalized for them based on our skype, FaceTime or in person consultations. I never sell large quantities or anything pre-made without an expiration date. Organic products do not last that long and should not contain preservatives. You should take plenty of time to drink water and recover before attempting to leave. Remember it’s a treatment not just time to get away and meditate.Oftentimes my clients want just a personalized body scrub or shampoo to address specific issues like dry skin or psoriasis. Some want a rollerball for before or after yoga or meditation. Some want their own body lotion or natural deodorant. That is simply a consult which is a first time minimal fee along with purchasing the needed products. Whatever your concern, make sure your Aromatherapist is a member of NAHA and/or AIA where you can also get a list of local members. In answering this question I want to refer to 3 other answers.
