The Ministry of Education on Monday released guidelines for reopening of schools in a graded manner from October 15. Informing this, Union Cabinet Minister for Education Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted stating that states and Union Territories are to prepare their own Standard Operating Procedure for health, hygiene and safety and learning with physical/social distancing.As per the latest guidelines, the students may also opt for online classes rather than physically attend school, and that precautions must be taken for preparing and serving mid-day meals in the schools.Discussing the guidelines, the Education Minister further stated that students will only attend the school physically with the consent of their parents. Those who do not wish to go to school can continue taking online classes. The schools, on the other hand, will have to ensure flexibility in attendance.Below mentioned are the other guidelines regarding the reopening of schools after the COVID-19 pandemic:SOPs for school reopeningThe schools will have to arrange and implement proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures for premises. Ground, classes, furniture, storage places, water tanks, washrooms, every place on the school campus will be disinfected thoroughly.There should be proper air flow in indoor areas.Schools are advised to form task teams like emergency care and support, hygiene inspection, commodity support among others.Time of entry and exit for everyone attending school will have to be planned and social distancing will have to be maintained. Therefore, schools will have to come up with a new seating arrangement that fits the social distancing guidelines.During all activities in schools, all staff members, workers and students will have to wear a face cover/ mask at all times.Academic calendar will have to be planned including all classes, breaks and examinations.It is the duty of the school to collect information on the current health status of students.Schools should have all contact information of nearest emergency centres, and healthcare centres.If in case, anyone is showing symptoms for COVID-19 infection, detention and isolation protocols have to be followed as directed by the government.All precautions will have to be taken while preparing and serving midday meals in schools. Every hospital in the US has to have a disaster plan. So, whenever there is some sort of mass casualty event there will be a guideline for how to respond and what to do in any given situation. One of the things that most people don’t know (unless you have a military background) is there is a special triage guideline in a mass casualty event that necessitates neglecting gravely injured patients.Triage means to sort, and that is exactly what happens when you walk up into an emergency department. You are rapidly evaluated by a nurse or a mid-level provider and sorted based upon your perceived acuity. If you have a imminently life-threatening issue, you will get pushed ahead of pretty much everyone else in queue. The same thing happens in the field. The patients are rapidly assessed and then sorted into categories. Because the definitive care isn’t being delivered at the scene, they are being sorted into categories that correspond with how rapidly they need to be evacuated out. The categories are Red, Yellow, Green, Black and a special category called Yellow Prime. I will try to recall a specific patient in each category from a tornado to illustrate.Red patients have life-threatening problems that need definitive care within an hour. This would be a patient that we cared for that had a large piece of metal that was impaled in his torso. His vital signs were stable except for the fact that his heart rate and respiratory rate were elevated. He needed to go to surgery quickly and was among the first taken from the scene.Yellow patients have potentially life threatening problems. This would be the teacher that was shielding her students with her body at the grade school when the cinder block wall collapsed on her. She had an obviously broken lower leg but seemed to have no major torso injuries and her vital signs were stable. Sometimes patients in this class suddenly deteriorate and they require fairly constant re-evaluation. It is easy to miss a spleen injury for instance.Green patients are sometimes called the “walking wounded”. They have minor injuries and can wait for transportation until everyone else is cared for. Sometimes they can get themselves to the hospital. This would be the patient that has ruptured eardrums after the event and a number of lacerations with venous bleeding that are almost certainly going to require sutures.Black category patients are obviously dead. They are not going to be transported.Yellow Prime patients are a different category. These are patients with lethal injuries which are judged to be incapable of saving. They are dying but not dead yet. They are transported last, if at all. Usually, by the time everyone else is cared for, they have died. A hypothetical example of this would be a child that was brought up to the triage area by a rescuer. She was removed from the rubble and she was found to have a massive, open head injury. She had agonal respirations, a thready and evaporating pulse and impossibly pale skin. She would be evaluated, tagged with a yellow prime, visible triage tag and laid gently on the ground with the other yellow prime patients. The team would then move on to the other patients. In general, these patients won’t get re-evaluation.It can be very hard to understand that in these situations, it is all about the provision of the very limited resource to the patients with the very best chance of recovering. The other thing to know is that injured caregivers or rescuers tend to take priority as well. Not to say that a sprained ankle on a firefighter will trump an impalement. However, a firefighter with crushing chest pain might.

There are at least five madhhabs, actually, by the way, once you count the fiqh of the Ja’fari Imami school. Always a mistake to forget them. ;)Madhabs are about Islamic Law. Islamic Law is about going from primary sources and trying to derive what is the right course of action in different situations. To do this, you need to follow some sort of methodology, because it's not always a clear cut matter, except maybe for some everyday issues in prayers and such. For many other things, the answer is not so obvious, and you need some sort of set of guidelines for how to resolve any ambiguity.For example:How do you deal with situations that are not mentioned?Can you use an analogy from a similar situation?How do you judge if it's similar enough?How can you tell whether a situation described in the primary sources is the same as the current situation?Do you just follow the advice of the primary sources literally?Or should you try to look behind and understand the intention or principle?What do you do if evidences point in two directions?Which types of sources have priority?There are different ways you can resolve these ambiguities. The primary sources give some principles, but there is also some room for disagreement. And as a result different methodologies emerged, each with their arguments for and against and each with those who like that methodology best.It's not about people trying to divide from each other. It's genuine scholarly disagreement on how to approach deriving law.
