PDF Editor FAQ

Do recruiters care about the number of connections on your LinkedIn profile?

I have LITERALLY —not even once— checked how many connections a person has. I generally think that LI is a worthless recruiting tool. That said, Microsoft appears to have made a few positive improvements to making connections, messaging, blocking spam and fixing its horrible UI. Good for them. Still, I wouldn't even know where to look to verify connections. Can't say it's ever come up during a client intake call when gathering their requirements.

What are the most useful SaaS applications for lawyers?

Not sure what type of law your practice but there are a few out there.Client Intake: Lexicata is in beta but is supposed to be really easy for sending electronic client intake formsCase/Practice Management: Clio is a great software for about $70/user/mo or my company Litigo (in beta) but we are a free, bare-bones alternative if you're price sensitiveFastcase and Westlaw are great for legal research as well as a new, up and coming data visualization powered search called Ravel Law which is pretty coolEssentials: Dropbox, Box, Evernote are all web-based options for note taking and document storage though a good case management software (Clio, Litigo) will do this as welleDiscovery: EverLaw has some amazing algorithms that can cut through tons of data very quicklyThat's about all I can think of off the top of my head....hope that helps!

What's the most disturbing/creepy/unsettling thing a psychiatric patient has said or done?

Interesting question and I'll do my best to answer it. Okay. So here's what happened:I was doing an internship/field placement recently at an all-male substance abuse facility and homeless shelter in the Detroit area. Roughly 70–80% of the clients have a severe mental illness in addition to substance abuse issues.I was at the end of my placement (I only had a few more weeks left). However, I needed to make up some time due to a family emergency in which I took time off and decided, and was allowed, to come in on a weekend. I believe that this added to the below situation because there were no therapists in during that time (they don't come in on weekends). My primary responsibility at the facility was to perform client intakes. It was the last client of the day. He was a new client, meaning that he had never received treatment before nor had he ever been to this particular facility. As I began doing his intake, the client began to hit on me. I immediately told him that I was married and not interested (normally this works). However, he just would not stop. He kept telling me that he just got out of prison, that's why he was talking and acting this way. Next thing I know, he displays a boner, gets up and tries to close the office blinds (I have him open them back up), and comes back and tries to put his arm around me. He then begins begging to perform sexual acts on me.While all this is happening, I remain calm; at the same time, trying to redirect and orient the client. I am also letting him know that his actions are unacceptable, to which he responds by saying, “I'm just playing, I can't help it,” to which I would reply, “Yes, you can.”In the end, I was able to finish the intake (which took much longer than usual due to the client’s actions) but was thoroughly freaked out about the situation. This client was the most sexually aggressive person with whom I had ever worked. It took a lot out of me trying to rebuff his advances, while at the same time trying to complete a thorough intake. Needless to say, my husband wasn't happy with the situation either and I never went back. Not because of what the client did but how I was treated by the facility after I told them what had happened.Anyway, it was certainly a learning experience for me; a very disturbing, creepy, and unsettling one.I hope this answers your question:)
