Has any single person fought in both World War II and Vietnam?

My father, Luke Kline, served in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam. He was 19 in 1943 and fought in North Africa. After North Africa his unit moved North through Italy. After the Italians executed Mussolini and his mistress they threw their corpses into the street before taking them to Milan to hang up. My father saw them lying in the street as his unit was stationed nearby. He re-entered the Army in 1947 and was sent to Korea in the early 1950’s. His unit fought to restore the DMZ and push back the communist advance from Seoul. His stories from Korea were mostly about how much harder it was to live and fight in the cold compared to North Africa and Italy. He remained in the Army after Korea and moved with my mom and brother to Germany from 1956 to 1960. He was detached to the CIA during the start of the Cold War during these years in Munich and Frankfurt (I was not born yet). My dad ran safehouses for spies, was a courier for sensitive documents, and escorted people around Germany. My family returned to the US in 1960 where my dad worked as an enlisted Sergeant at Ft. Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania (5 miles from our home and his birthplace). In 1966 my father was sent to Vietnam. He was stationed in Ban Me Thuot (or as he liked to call it, Bambi Tuit) in the mountains of Vietnam. He supported six man teams of soldiers who lived in the bush and trained the indigenous Montagnards to resist the Viet Cong. Most days he would fly in a chopper with his Colonel to check the status of the teams in the bush. He had to sit on his flak jacket because they would be flying low and frequently get shot at. One evening his compound was overrun and he won a Purple Heart for getting shot while defending the compound. He passed away in March 2018 at age 93 in the VA Hospital in Lebanon, PA. They don’t make men like him anymore.WWII Photos ( Luke Kline)Korean War Photos (Luke Kline)At the Brussels Worlds Fair with my mom and brother (while stationed in Germany)Vietnam Photos (Luke Kline)Before his Retirement from the Army in the Early 70’sLiving at the VA Hospital in 2016 (Luke Kline)Luke Kline ended up being a pretty normal guy for living through three wars. He enjoyed carpentry as a hobby and built a friend a lake house. He liked to bowl, hunt, fish, and he was a fun grandfather to my children. Here’s to this country’s Greatest Generation.

Which war was the scariest to the American soldiers?

The scariest war was the war where every last American soldier was committing treason against the land they and their ancestors were born in, which just so happened to be the most powerful country on Earth. This is the American Revolution (1775–1783) against the British Empire.Think about how scary this is. The wars mentioned by the OP (Korea, Vietnam, WWI and WWII) all were done with relatively modern medical practices, professional armies, and established circumstances. Meanwhile, back in the 1700s, we had a ragtag gang of nationless, poorly trained militiamen, fighting the most powerful Empire in Earth’s history, in an era where medical practices in the battlefield were basically useless and battle wounds would likely result in a horrible, gangrenous death. The soldiers who fought in this war were exceptionally brave, knowing that just fighting meant giving up everything — giving up a way of life they’ve known for decades, committing treason knowing full well that the penalty was death, and going into a war filled with legendarily cold winters (see Valley Forge), a 12.5% chance of never making it back (200,000 served in the Revolution, 25,000 died), and, did I mention, only the most powerful and fearsome professional army in the world trying to kill you. Here they are braving below-freezing temperatures, living on the meagerest of rations, about to skip Christmas in favor of risking their lives attacking one of the most famous professional mercenary forces in the world, the Hessians. These soldiers of the Revolution gave up everything to fight for a cause that could easily be the death of them.In American history, Never was a greater risk taken, Never a greater fear overcome. I salute our founding fathers and our founding soldiers.

Feedbacks from Our Clients

I always give companies the benefit of the doubt, but this was ridiculous. CocoDoc has no intention of honoring its lifetime memberships. Instead of telling me that, CocoDoc continually gave me wrong/incomplete information to reactivate my account including wrong downloads and codes, subjecting to me to hours of frustration over multiple days. If CocoDoc themselves tried their own “solutions” they would know they do not work. That is why it appears intentional. If you’re actually putting your credit card number in I think their services should work just fine. But beware, you are signing up for a yearly membership, which is not apparent.
