PDF Editor FAQ

As a police officer, have you ever run into someone you know?

Yes I sure have. I have arrested many. I grew up in the same town I worked for 5 years.A funny story. I once stopped a guy I thought I knew and I knew he had warrants. As I began writing him a citation, he told me he had no identification so I asked him to come back to my vehicle so I could identify him.As we went thru the fill in the blanks on the citation, I asked him his address. Without hesitation he responded. “237 Carmel Ave. Apartment B”.Folks, 237 Carmel Ave is a house! Not an apartment!!Believe it or not, I grew up in that house. THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD HOME!! I knew for a fact it was not an apartment. It was a single family home.I tried to keep my composure as I completed the rest of the ticket and then I told the guy to make sure everything on the ticket was correct, and if it was, sign the ticket for me. He was cooperative and did just as I asked.I then told him he was under arrest for providing false information to a police officer and I handcuffed him. He could not understand it. When I told him the truth about him giving me my childhood address we laughed and he told me his real name. He was lying to me about everything and he had several felony warrants out for his arrest.WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT!!!!!!!

If a police officer stops you, should you tell him that you pay his salary?

That is how you start down the road to two bad outcomes. You say that and the young inexperienced officer makes a really smart ass remark right back at you. That leads you to respond in kind, and the result is a ticket, a night in jail, an impounded car, and a Court appearance. You say that to a veteran officer. He responds with “Oh, I need a raise! “ “Oh, just kidding!” Then you respond with a derogatory comment like well, just fill in the blank. Then he looks at you, chuckles, and says. “I haven’t been called that in a very long time!”“Sir, can you step on your brakes?” One light out and another citation.“Sir your tires appear worn and below the minimum tread depth”- another citation.“Sir, that pair of sunglasses is hanging from your mirror and partially blocking your view. ”Another citation. Now you do realize, this is getting very expensive. So now you just sit there, seething, the arteries pulsing in your neck. A bead of sweat slowly flows across your forehead.Well sir I found, 9 violations plus the speeding ticket. “Replace the burned out lights, buy a set of tires, oh and the fine, you don’t want a warrant out for arrest do you?”You finally weaken and say “You sure are enjoying this aren’t you?”“Well its what you are paying me for isn’t it SIR?”“Be sure to have a good one SIR!”

Afghanistan: Do the majority of Afghans really think American occupation is worse than the Taliban?

No.Perspectives really boil down to experiences one has had. In the context of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghans have had interesting and diverse exposure to America and Americans. But almost none of them (currently/yet) have such an anti-American view that they would rather have the Taliban than them. Some of the ways that Afghans have been directly or indirectly in contact with the Americans are:Work. Whether it is a translating job, a joint UN-Afghan office job, hotel services, hospitals and other non-profit organizations or NGOs, it is an undeniable fact that the current Afghan micro economy greatly depends on "working with the Americans." Those who work with foreigners in Kabul have, on average, a better and stable income than those who do not. It is mostly assumable that this middle class view America as a blessing.Societal influence. Pre 9-11 brought an exodus of immigrants to neighboring countries, mainly Iran and Pakistan. While post 9-11 opened a new door. The door to the US. Quite a huge number of Afghans immigrated to the US and currently there are huge clusters in Northern Virginia/D.C. area, California (Los Angeles, Fremont/Bay Area), and a few minor clusters in NYC and Michigan. This greatly shaped Afghan's perspectives on what America is. Note that: By "shape" I do not mean that the US was viewed negatively before but the fact that Afghans didn't really have any major perspective on the US until the invasion.Friends and family. Those who either have american friends by either studying in a US college or who have family members who live in the US. There are numerous secondary and tertiary connections that many urbanized Afghans have to the US. This brings a lot of first-hand perspectives to the dinner table.Bombs, drones, and deaths. This is the point I really want to drive home. Afghan civilians die. Yes, civilians who have nothing to do with the Taliban die at the hands of US soldiers and termed as either collateral damage or brushed off as mistakes. Children die in these airstrikes. To most Afghans this is something worth of showing angst. Some numbers: In 2010 alone there were 2777 Afghan deaths, in which 4/5 were because of the Taliban while the others were through NATO airstrikes. (Could somebody help me with citations? I am unable to do it through here. I can give you links.) In fact, operation Enduring Freedom was at its peak during the first 3-4 years. But no statistics have been published for those years.I'll let you fill in the blanks of how those Afghans feel about the invasion.Counterargument:It's true that the drones and airstrikes are so bad that our President had to issue multiple statements, again and again. Hamid Karzai has pleaded many times, saying:"Civilian deaths and arbitrary decisions to search people’s houses have reached an unacceptable level and Afghans cannot put up with it any longer."Five years on, it is very difficult for us to continue accepting civilian casualties. It is becoming heavy for us; it is not understandable anymore.""We are very sorry when the international coalition force and NATO soldiers lose their lives or are injured. It pains us. But Afghans are human beings, too."But this does not equate to the oppressive regime of the Taliban. Those guys were real assholes that destroyed our country. We, Afghans, feel that we missed great opportunities in becoming a major player in the region. We missed out on education (read: both women and men's education during the Taliban era), on economic stability, and other factors present in a prosperous and peaceful country. This is possible during the US invasion, it was NOT possible during the Taliban. The main reason why we expect more (read: less/no civilian casualties) from the US is the stark difference between the intention of the US and the Taliban. The taliban want to kill us. The US does not. But when both show up on the chart, we are not happy with the latter. We hate the Taliban with a passion. But USA should stick to what it came for.I understand that this argument has many offshoots and is comparable to opening a can of worms. But I am more than happy to learn from you and teach you what I know.

The UI is really catchy and intuitive. You don't need o go through documentation and stuff to be able to use the software. We didn't need a lot of features so that wasn't a criteria for us. Our customers didn't have any problems using it too.
