One of my newsletter readers operates a mobile dental service for cleanings and minor dental services throughout Southwestern Florida. She specializes in care for elderly nursing home patients. She contracts with their family for payment, and markets her services by driving her vehicle around town with magnetic signs affixed on the doors of her vehicle.She has all the same licenses and insurance protections as an office-based dentist, uses a cloud-based electronic medical record for dentistry, she maintains a minimal website and almost no social media presence as the elderly don't shop for dental services online (their kids do).The tools and equipment she carries with her are completely portable. Yes.I had always specified I could not foster special needs children. And I only fostered teen girls. The caseworker said she’d really be gone by SundayThe young girl was an abused Downs Syndrome child with minimal speech and ability to learn, who required special care.I first told the case worker this wasn’t part of my contract but she promised to find an appropriate home by Sunday. By now my 3 foster teens had awakened and, along with my birth daughter they said they would help so I accepted her into my home.On Monday I still had the child. I took a day off work and began calling the case worker.On Tuesday I took another day off work and went to children’s services with the child. Apparently the caseworker had vacation that week and hadn’t passed the child’s information on to another worker.I called work and rescheduled a vacation week from summer to January. Thursday I took her for a psychiatric visit. Friday to a doctors visit and when I got home I had a message that her first court date was the following Tuesday.This went on for several weeks.I ended up blowing a years vacation time in January which meant the other foster girls also weren’t going to get a vacation.Feb 1 the caseworker called and told me they were returning her to her home of origin.After that I learned to say NO! at the first phone call. No more misses nice gal.I was never told the extent of her problems and with no experience or training I was expected to deal.This was patently unfair to the child, who became attached to me and the other foster girls, to the other girls who now had no beach and lake weeks to look forward to, to my co workers who had to pick up my work and to me.That was in the 80s. I hope things are different now.

Most people here want to participate in financing that safety and prosperity.It’s also beneficial for enterprises to have a larger pool of potential customers who can afford to buy their products/services.And the rich acquire most of their income by other means than their salary anyway.The tax rate for capital gain is just 34 %.
