Exactly.Jesus, in his list of conditions that would exist in the “last days”[1] , included the following.(Matthew 24:37-39) 37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.In Jesus’ words, the attitude of the people regarding life, being focused on their own lives and pleasures, showed a lack of concern about their relationship with God.Added to that is the description of what the last days would be like, by the apostle Paul.(2 Timothy 3:1-5) 3 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.As one person said, reading Paul’s words is like reading the daily newspaper, where the selfishness of people results in the violent reports that dominate the news.Footnotes[1] Page on jw.org

When people on the Right and Left will agree on facts and evidence. Which means, probably never! Here is a very interesting excerpt from How Liberals and Conservatives Think, by George Lakoff, an excerpt (Copyright notice: Excerpt from pages 24-37 of Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think, Second Edition by George Lakoff, published by the University of Chicago Press. ©1996, 2002 by George Lakoff). Note the year written was 1996, well before this year’s election. But the premise remains true: Liberals and Conservatives have a completely different world view, to the point where the same words have different meanings to each of them. Think cats and dogs - a dog’s tail wagging means he is happy to see you. A cat’s tail wagging means he’s angry and you’d best stay away from him! :)

I am currently reading Edmund de Waal’s book called The White Road. I haven’t been to this part of China but in the book he goes to all the places that where key to the development of porcelain. He describes the area around Jingdezhen where the original porcelain and the original Kao-ling hill is. The work has been going on there for something like 50 generations. He has a picture on page 37 of a huge hill of broken pottery. On page 24–25 he describes it being everywhere, making up hills with bamboo on them. Hundreds of years of pots that didn’t work or broke. Hundreds of hills. He describes reaching down and finding a 12th century shard of a wine cup. People shift through it to find something to sell in the market.
