It was 1978. I was just married and living in Mandamarri working as surveyor in Coal Mine. Mandamarri, also known as Kalyan Khani is combination of colonies. It can not be termed as a town. There are Two Towns nearby Bellampalli (8K.M.) and Mancherial (14K.M.) , but even in those Towns no shops were available for my purchase.I wanted to purchase a Godrej Almirah , but they were not available in those two towns. Not even Almirahs of other companies are available.We used to keep our clothes in wooden almirahs attached to wall in our quarter provided by the company and there was always a risk of termites eating away our clothes.Then I went to Nagpur to visit my elder sister and Brother-in-law who are staying there. My brother-in-law used to work in CMPDI, Nagpur then. During casual conversation I expressed my dissatisfaction over not able to procure a Godrej Almirah.My Brother-in-law is a person of action and also service minded. He immediately took me to the Godrej show room in Nagpur and purchased Godrej Almirah with his money.( I later paid him back). So far so good.The Almirah was delivered to his house and kept in his house. Now the problem of transporting it our house.We were scheduled to proceed to Mandamarri next day by Nagpur-Kazipet passenger. So we took the Almirah to the Nagpur Railway Station for booking in the luggage compartment of the same train.The mistake we made was that the Almirah was not packed thoroughly. It was only packed around with gunny bags. So keeping the almirah free from scratches in a safe place in luggage compartment required some help from Railway authorities. We are ready to pay some money as bribe for that matter and inquired one railway coolie regarding the matter. He said that to meet so and so officer, but warned that not to mention any bribe, as that officer is very honest and strict.We are puzzled as it is new to us. WE further inquired. we received the same answer.We are very happy that such type of Officers are still in this country.We also felt proud. Everybody is afraid of him. He commands such a respect. Then I came to know that honest people may not make money, but they command lot of respect.My brother in law is good at convincing people. He approached the concerned Officer and explained our problem and requested for safe transportation of Almirah. The concerned personally arranged it.The Almirah safely reached Bellampally and we transported to our house in a truck.In 1980, when we are away, a burglary took place at our house, but the Burglar could not open the almirah. He managed only to break handle to half.I am still using it with half handle.The picture is of my father and mother.
