School Food Service Employee Evaluation: Fill & Download for Free

I worked at Panera Bread (at one of the top 10 busiest stores) for about 5 months starting towards the end of my senior year in high school.It's okay.It really depends on the store manager(s) and the people you work with, but overall I'd say it's just like working in any other semi-casual restaurant. I made a little over minimum wage in my state, but there are opportunities for pay increases at your 6 month and 1 year employee evaluations, I believe (didn't stay long enough to find out).The work is pretty much divided into stations: Dining Room, Cashier, Barista, Bakery, Food Assembly, Food prep, and The Guy Who Does The Dishes.Typically, you get assigned to one of these stations for your shift (ranges from 4–6 hours) and you'll mainly do that for the entire time. They train you at the beginning for about 3 different positions (whatever ones they need at the time).Dining Room:Everyone starts on dining room – they make you start there so that you can help cover if needed. Dining room includes making sure the utensils, napkins, condiments, coffee supplies, toilet paper, etc. are restocked at all times.You also need to brew entirely fresh batches of coffee on the hour (this is an important thing, and also difficult because the urns are heavy), carry all the dirty dishes from the bus stations to the back (also very heavy), empty the trash cans when they're full (heavy and gross), vacuum the floor, and wipe the tables. If you close here, you have the clean the bathrooms and mop everything.Cashier:You stand at the cash register and take people's orders all day (it gets crazy at lunch). After your shift, you're responsible for counting your drawer and making sure things add up. You restock drink cups and do miscellaneous other things if it's slow. If you close this, you'll either have to vacuum or mop/clean all the blenders and drink mixers. Depending on the manager, you can or cannot use your phone (stealthily, of course).Barista:You make the drinks (lattes, smoothies, etc) and you'll usually have a register open too, depending on how busy it is at the time. You also have to restock the behind-the-counter fridges with yogurt, smoothie base, milk, general supplies, etc.Bakery:Same as cashier but located in the bakery. More of a thing in the morning, when people get bagels and stuff, but you just have to keep the bakery pans stocked and take orders. When you close here, you have to bag all the bread for donation, mop the floors, and prepare the bakery for tomorrow's fresh round. Lots of sweeping!Food Assembly:Never done it, but this is where all the food gets made. Orders are displayed on a monitor with all ingredients and you basically just build whatever it is that was ordered (sandwich, salad, etc). PSA, the soups and pasta (they just heat it up at the store) come from bags. We do a pretty good job of datestamping ALL our food and making sure it's fresh – this is definitely a priority of the managers'.Food Prep:Never done it, but happens in the back where people prepare the food servings for the next day, e.g. separating meat into single portions so they can be quickly slapped onto a sandwich. They make the parfaits and fruit cups fresh back there too.The Guy Who Does The Dishes:Never done it but you'll get to know the guy who does pretty well. He does all the dishes and handles tons of stuff in the back and pretty much knows where everything is.Oh, and I forgot to mention the Bakers earlier, but they work overnight and bake all the bread for the next day (the dough is premade).If you close (I always got stuck with closing shifts sadly), the one perk is that you can take home some leftover pastries and bread. My family didn't buy any bread for five months because I brought back so much. Other employee perks include free soda and coffee, eating all the broken and disfigured bakery goods during your shift, and an employee discount (half off the menu; still a pretty big rip off, one normal priced item is about the same amount of money I made in an hour, Maryland minimum wage 2014 was $8.25).You'll get good customer service skills, cleaning skills, general food safety skills, and also get to meet a wide variety of people (the regulars, rich kids who spend $8 getting us to make a PB&J sandwich, etc). The work is not hard (but you do have to stand on your feet the whole shift) and is definitely doable, while not overly enjoyable.

They also work with patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, and, hypertension, etc.Sports and Health ClubsThey work with sports teams, athlete camps, clubs etc. They take care of their nutritional requirements, and also monitor their progress from time to time.Teaching, Research and DevelopmentThe nutritionist under the Research and development section conducts research on various food items. They ensure the quality of the products, as well as to study their effects on the body chemistry in laboratories. They also conduct research on nutritive value of food, which helps to understand various components of food we eat. Teaching the science of nutrition of dietetics in colleges and universities is also a good option, after completing your higher education.Community DietitiansThey counsel and advice people on food choices, and conduct programs in nutrition awareness and disease prevention from time to time. Community Dietitians work in public health agency, health and fitness clubs, and day care centers. They work with large groups.Management DietitiansManagement Dietitians specialize in food service systems or clinical management. They manage personnel, plan and conduct employee training programs, design food systems, and plan budgets.Consultant DietitiansConsultant Dietitians work independently with individual clients. They work as nursing home consultants, book authors, and patient counselors in medical centers and fitness programs. They serve as independent advisors to industry, and they also develop and evaluate food service systems.Mass MediaMass media also employs nutritionist, for disseminating vital information on healthy living.

I would say that if you don't want to work on weekends, nights or holidays, you cannot qualify for the healthcare jobs in hospital and nursing home, most of the retail sales jobs and all other jobs that are related to customer services when the needs of the customers reach the peak during these times, various freelance jobs or office assistant jobs that can be done at home, driving jobs, real estate jobs, entertainment and sports supporting jobs, educational jobs like tutor, and caretaking jobs.So what jobs/careers can you qualify for?I know that you should find:Companies and corporations that are government run in public sectors have working schedule of 9 to 5. Basically, it depends on the employer’s contract for regulating the working hours. Corporations, private businesses and non-government agencies in private sectors may officially not recommend their employees to work overtime although some employees work during these time for meeting the projects deadlines or voluntarily. Joe never worked overtime for his company Easy Track which was a privately owned company, while my other classmates who worked for the same company often worked late in the evening and on holidays.The oil and industry jobs in big companies. As IT workers, we were not allowed to work overtime on weekends, holidays and evenings when I worked in TransCanada Pipelines. But I have no idea whether their other employees in petroleum geology need to do the field work on weekends.Schools staff including cafeteria workers who work in the lunch room and school bus drivers.Day care and kindergarten workers for taking care of children ranging from infants to school age.Software developers, network operators, system administrators and all other jobs related to computer in tech companies or other business companies. Based on Quora, google’s employees work 8 hours per day and “trying to work too much is actively discouraged”, based on one of their employees.Library technicians in the private libraries in some corporations who track and re-shelve books and other library materials and conduct clerical duties.Nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations come in all shapes and sizes, and many of them are working the typical 9-5 workdays. (4)Construction jobs.Psychologist jobs who diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals.Archivists, curators, and museum technicians who restore, maintain, or prepare objects in museum collections for storage, research, or exhibition.Dietitians and nutritionists who plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease.Speech-language pathologists who assess and treat people with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.Occupational therapists who provide rehabilitative treatments and procedures that help build or restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills. (6)Court reporters that work in courtrooms, legislatures, and also in attorneys' offices.Law office administration and clerical workers.Be your own boss.I would say that if you engage in the high-end jobs such as doctor and low-end jobs such as retailer, you have to work on weekends, nights and holidays, especially for those customer related ones. Office work and school jobs have strict 9–5 schedules. Check with your employment contract and you don’t have to work during these time.
