A few years ago I was working as a consultant in charge of implementing HR and payroll software. I had a small project team but wasn't their line manager. One of my duties was to keep an up to date project plan of how the various implementations were going and conduct regular calls with the clients.There was one particular customer who a senior manager decided to shadow me on. She said it was to learn my job which was something we all hated.
