PDF Editor FAQ

What is it like to live in the United States under Donald Trump?

I'm an Asian minority. Honestly, most of life just continues going on. A little bit of business as usual but with a twist.I'm strictly in middle class. I'm a young engineer. I paid more taxes this year. I grew up in a lower middle class family and you can say I somewhat achieved the American dream of having the ability to live comfortably— with assumption of me continuing to save 20% of my pay every year and working into my mid/late 60s.Since Trump was elected, I've seen a lot more hate. A lot of disrespectful, rude, racist or demeaning comments from people to one another.Although my job isn't affected, the culture here in US has changed. There's a lot of uncertainty. A lot of hate against immigrants. Yes I say immigrants rather than specifying illegal immigrants because people like to generalize and that's what I've noticed. Compassion is gone. It very much feels like every man for himself because that's what Trump does.Another thing that's changed is price of goods. Prices of goods have gone up because of the trade wars. My previous company was affected by the tariffs and had to make some tough financial decisions because they had a contract manufacturer in China. I know conservatives might say, “hey, well your company’s fault for sending jobs out!” But what many fail to realize is that all the actions taken by US companies is driven by nature of capitalism. It's all about lining someone’s pocket up top. Trump is one of those people up top. Why did his daughter not choose to Mfg her clothing line here in US?As Trump continues to foster hate and vilify certain populations, hate will only intensify on both sides and that's what I've seen. If someone approaches you with a hateful demeanor towards you, makes a snap judgement of you without even knowing your name, what's the most common response? A reflection of the hateful demeanor. After 3 years of Trump as POTUS, I am tired. I can't be bothered to speak to a Trump supporter or even a far leftist for that matter. No one wants to listen, they just want to blame, including Trump, because that's the easiest thing to do. It's happened throughout history and history is repeating itself.

Was it unfair for God to allow Job to suffer over what was basically an argument between God and Satan?

A2A: Absolutely. The story of Job, perhaps more than any other, shows that the God of the Bible is evil.I noticed that another answer to this question says that the story of Job shows that God is “teaching Job faith.” I think that argument is morally reprehensible, for two reasons:God does this by murdering Job’s servants and family; andThe story plainly says that Job already had faith, and God was showing off Job’s faith, not teaching Job faith. At its essence, this story crystallizes one of two radically different and incompatible foundations of morality. There are two basic ways to think of morality: Big Bully morality and compassion-based morality.Compassion-based morality is the morality you get from the Golden Rule. It says that humans have intrinsic worth and dignity, and something is moral or immoral in accordance with whether it causes harm to people. If you treat people the way they don’t want to be treated, that’s not okay. Morality is built from compassion and empathy.Big Bully morality is morality that derives from absolute blind obedience to authority, nothing else. What you want doesn’t matter. Harm doesn’t matter. Compassion doesn’t matter. Something is moral if the authority figure says it is. Something is immoral if the authority says it is.In this view, God is the ultimate authority—a Big Bully who lives in the sky. Anything, absolutely anything, that God does is moral, by definition. The only measure of morality is the blindness of your obedience. If God tells you to rape children, then raping children is moral, and if you fail to obey, you are immoral. The teachings of Jesus in the New Testament is all about compassion-based morality. The Old Testament especially the book of Job, is all about Big Bully morality. No wonder, then, that the early Gnostic Christians believed the God of the Old Testament was evil, and was not the same entity as the God of the New Testament. It’s difficult to reconcile believing they’re both the same.God tortures a person in order to make a point to Satan. In any moral system based on compassion, empathy, or the Golden Rule, there is no way that is moral. It is, in fact, an abomination—an act of atrocity that anyone with a working moral compass can only see as evil.I would not invite someone who says that God’s treatment of Job was moral over to dinner. If I did have to have dinner with such a person, I would count the silverware after. As I write this answer, someone on Quora is creating phony profiles that look just like mine, and using them to send abusive/harassing messages to people. If you receive an abusive PM or comment, check the profile carefully. It probably isn’t me.

Should you avoid people who always fail?

Absolutely NO. Just look at how rich and sucessful those Self-Help Gurus have become from selling books, CDs, & motivational courses to people who fail. The Self-Help Industry is worth around USD 11 billion for the American market alone! So do yourself a favour, and stick more around people who fail because they are worth a lot of money. Here are some few simple steps for you to gain your first million dollars in the Self-Help Industry:Step 1: Write a books on 8 very general simple steps on how the rich succeed (without the need to understand the personal problems of any of your readers). You could even write books which help your readers envelop a rich mindset, what should they eat, what time they should wake up, and other habits which you notice the top 1% plutocrats have in common.Step 2: Then proceed to write another book on how to maintain their competitive edge. In this section, it helps to write books with topics such as meditation, and Buddhism (Dont worry, you can just rip of those Buddhist sections which has monetary value to be harvested- without spending too much time becoming a monk in the middle of a tropical Thai forest).Step 3: Then follow up with another book on what they are doing wrong which is not maximising the potential of their company and the people within it. (Do some general interview/ begging with CEO & managers in top S&P500 companies to vomit some free tips about what bullshit they are doing which makes them the best in their industry).Step 4. After that, write a book on how to cope with inevitable failure in life (The sources for this part would have to come from your own experience, but it does help to have a generous serving of overused quotes from Einstein, Colonel KFC, Oprah, J.K Rowling, Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs, & etc).Step 5: Finally write a book on how success does not define your entire life (Go general on topics such as gratitude, compassion, family focus, & more holistic goals). In fact, if you really feel lazy but youre looking for easy money, start each chapter of your self-help book by talking about another top selling self help book. That way, you are using your time more efficiently to achieve the minimum requirement of 300 pages to create a book. All the Best!
