Lenovo Ideapad Z580 may have a corrupted bios. How do I repair it?

The only way to restore a BIOS that is truly kaput is to use the “USB FlashBack” USB port which is usually only present on high-end desktop motherboards, maybe expensive gaming laptops. If you don't have one those you may be SooL.Hmmmm. Maybe it's not the BIOS? Typically if the BIOS is corrupted, Windows won't boot at all, hell the laptop probably would not open BIOS even. It could be there's a incorrect setting in BIOS, but again that would not make sense if it boots sometimes but not others. To fix that, you would go into BIOS, jot down all the settings as they are now, then find the option to Restore to Default Settings and see if that does it.I would be thinking more along the lines of corruption in Windows. Maybe you could try doing an SFC and/or DISM repair? And i would also back up your data, create a restore point, and run Chkdsk as well as a HDD diagnostic like WD DataLifeguard or Seagate Seatools or Hitachi Disk Fitness Tool.If this happened recently, maybe look to see if there's a restore point from just before….

What parts should be used with an i3 7350k?

Z270 series (is a must to use its full potential with overclock)NVMe M.2 (it does make OS ran smoother)16gb ram (make OS ran smoother and enough for any current game, and good enough for video editing)80 Plus Gold PSU for efficiency (efficient Power Supply uses less Watts since it rams cooler and components inside are highly efficient)CPU Cooler with Giant heatsink if space in PC case allows it so you can easily overclock it to a stable 5.0Ghz or over for daily use.I have it.My build on a budget with i3–7350K:Asrock Z270 Gaming ITX/AC MoboLow profile Silverstone A6 CPU CoolerDDR4 8Gb (4gb/4gb) Samsung 2133FSP Dagger 500W PSUNvidia GT 730 2GB (As I don't play games)1 Intake, 1 exhaust fanLiteOn 512GB MLC SSDHitachi 3.5 HDD 1GBOld Retro HP case (since ITX fits on almost every case)At the moment price per performance for powerful single core, for a cost of $140, one can get its two cores up to 5.1Ghz stable, with a good air cooler. I was able to go easily and with no throttling up to 5.0Ghz (but one must have well ventilated case with proper exhaust fans setup). I bet one can overclock it up to a stable 5.3Ghz if second core disabled and if used a CPU cooler with a good giant heatsink or with a good liquid cooler. I don't play games. I use my i3–7350K system for HDD/SSD/SD Card/USB Drive surface read or write test, for testing new hard drives health before installing them on customers computers, and for external hard drive virus scanning at the work shop. Most Reviewers in YouTube hate it because they judge CPUs in terms of gaming capabilities. Me? I only and specifically needed powerful single core CPU for software based tools I use, and i3–7350K has been doing a great job. I also have Dell Presicion M4800 with i7–4940MX (extreme) with 4 cores of 3.9Ghz (is laptop with a laptop CPU so when CPU’s max speed is used it thermal throttles quickly) and i3–7350K twice as fast when scanning SSDs. Hence I have my i3–7350K (my hammer) at the work shop for computer repair.

What if I do not shut down my laptop for two months but put it in a sleep mode?

I have done it regularly for my laptop over the past 2 years*. Have done the same for my desktop for 8 months*.Battery life - The laptop’s battery life will fall over time and it will die prematurely if you only keep it in sleep mode and charge it to full every time you plug it in. Occasionally shutting it down and using the battery to 0% charging will help improve battery life. My laptop battery can now store only 10% (3.3w) of its original rated capacity of 53.84w.Desktop does not have this problem. But expect your CU to turn on automatically every 12 hours or so and then go back to sleep in sometime (based on system settings and usage).Performance - The laptop will have faster wake time, but over te next 6 months the performance will have significant lag. Office tools will take longer to load, save or even crash. Browsing will be slow. You might also see BSOD (windows OS) while using RAM heavy applications.Desktop the performance degradation will be much lower, it will need over 8 months for significant and visible processor slowdown. After that though you will need to shutdown your system, clear memory, temporary files cache, memory dumps and everything else (windows OS).Not sure how this will affect MACs - but one of my colleagues did try it for few months and it end up in the thrash after a month or so. The cost of repairing it was not worth it. She had it replaced with a Core i5, lenovo G series laptop.I am using - Core i5 - 4th Gen lenovo E430 series laptop with 8gb RAM (4X2). My laptop has been washed in the rain and survived it, fell from height of 4ft multiple time, has been thrown to the ground with force and suffered severe voltage fluctuations. Still working although not perfect its still good enough to play Prototype 1 and NFS RUN, MFS:MW2, HALO, and Crysis 1. I have had to change the default HITACHI 7200 RPM HDD to WD 5400 RPM HDD after the rain wash. (7200 RPM was not available in aftermarket)My desktop is probably core i3 or Core 2 duo (at office) which I did not shutdown for 8 months. 500 GB 5200 RPM HDD. 4 GB RAM (2X2). It just hung up every time I turned it on after 8 months and i just had to shut it down, clear cache, %temp% and do virus scan and everything else to restore it back.Keeping your device in sleep more is not advisable for laptop unless you plan to reuse it within the next 3–4 hours, anything beyond - hibernate or shutdown.*Disclaimer - The operating conditions for my devices and the maintenance played a major role for improving/deteriorating the life of my computers.
