A Note From The Teacher This Month: Fill & Download for Free

When my son was in fourth grade he got glowing reports until about March, when I got a note from the teacher that he would fail the class if he didn’t work harder. That didn’t make any sense to me. He never disrupted the class and was a model student. Except, as it turned out, the teacher never reviewed homework that she gave the kids. One day she decided to check all the desks in her room and found that my son had stuffed all his homework in his desk and never did it. In March! I was furious. I set up a meeting with the school principle and the teacher, had my husband come along for support, and took my son out of school to teach myself. The school didn’t like it much, but oh well. If they couldn’t do the job right, I would have to. She was the same teacher who told me that she wished she had a taser to shock the kids into behaving better. Long story short, I kept him home for about a month, he was caught up on everything, he went back to class and passed.

When my daughter was in fifth grade she had an assignment to write about Charles Darwin. She got a great book from the library that explained things really well. In the first paragraph of her essay she gave the name of the book and author and said she got most of the information from that book. She wrote a nice essay. In this particular school she was discriminated against because of her race, being severely overweight and extremely shy. She also had a severe learning disability in math. Most of her teachers interacted with her as if she had a low IQ and her classmates avoided her. So she handed in the essay and got it back with a note: “No fifth grader could write like this. You must have copied it right from the book. But nothing you said is incorrect so I am giving you an A.” Well, a few months later she was out of this school. She majored in college in Fantasy Fiction and Disability studies and she has two books on Amazon. I felt like sending this Social Studies teacher a note.

Most men and most women are decent who do not want to engage themselves in violent act. Also the busy work life does not allow one to become robinhood. Yet, when it comes to an aggressive female, men do not know how to behave with them. There are women who take advantage of the same.I am raising my two teenage boys as equal human being. No upper hand to them for being males and no lower treatment to women. Unfortunately there are young girls who take advantage of this special treatment. So when my younger son told me how a girl was showing him a middle finger and calling a few bad words, he too retaliated. This girl then complained to the teacher and got a note from the parents. I asked my son about the same. He said mom,” she started it, I only repeated back the same words to her. Then she started crying and complained to the teacher. “ This teacher without hearing his side story scolded him. My son stopped complaining after that about girls but continued to retaliate. He also became quieter than normal. He would not share with me or my husband any thing. One day I got a call from his teacher about a similar note from same girl’s parent. I sat down and with my son and convinced him that no matter what, I am with him and love him unconditionally. A week later he shared his feelings that since the teachers were not believing him, he had decided to stop going to them and to stop telling them his side of the story. He added that cuz I too was asking him to handle his issues himself, he stopped telling me anything. I felt a pinching pain in my heart. Next morning I went to his school and digged the whole issue, gave my piece of mind to his teachers, coordinator and principal. I was told that because the complaint are from girls we assume that they are right! Really?I told them that henceforth if I they have one more complain from the girl’s parent, call me to handle that parent and the issue if the teachers are unable to be fair. Its been months now but no more complains against my son!I think teachers are confused when a girl is rude, mischievous, fights physically or abuses against a boy. They are wrong in ignoring her actions in these formative years making her believe that she can use her gender to get away from any future wrongdoings. If I had not intervened at the right time, who knows my son would have developed hatred towards females or developed any other dark feelings against females within him.I am teaching my sons to not keep quiet when their female school mates or acquaintances are rude to them yet not to use their physical strength against anyone.Had earlier posted this as a comment, but thanks to Subash Kumar, posting as a reply too.
