PDF Editor FAQ

How did Peter Norton or Bill Gates write programming code in the 60s, without access to the Internet's coding forums? Were they geniuses?

We weren't geniuses, just persistent. We used books[1] , binders[2] , manuals, user guides[3] and made phone calls[4] .I had stuff just like in the photos below on my desk for years and years. I read them until they were dog-eared, and had stacks of them on my lap for hours at a time. I’d bring them home and read them on my couch. I read them like love letters. I used post-it notes, fingers, and a white board to organize thoughts.I wrote many thousands of lines of code on a 15″ monochrome computer terminal[5] with a line editor[6], years before IDE was an acronym or stack exchange was a thing. I also did a couple of years of keypunch[7][8] coding in college. You don’t need a lot of equipment to write code.In the 80s, we used email[9] Usenet[10] , gopher[11] and fidonet[12] . We went to the library[13] of local Universities, or book stores[14].Later on, about the time most Quorans were born, we used the internet. We used Knuth[15] and Kernighan and Ritchie[16] and Sedgwick[17][18] .We went to user group meetings[19] and had convos[20] . Read every word in Byte magazine[21] and Dr. Dobbs Journal[22] .Programming wasn’t for sissies back then!P.S., I was nerd before you were a nerd.Computer punch cardsFootnotes[1] Book - Wikipedia[2] Ring binder - Wikipedia[3] User guide - Wikipedia[4] Telephone call - Wikipedia[5] Computer terminal - Wikipedia[6] Line editor - Wikipedia[7] Keypunch - Wikipedia[8] Punched card - Wikipedia[9] Email - Wikipedia[10] Usenet - Wikipedia[11] Gopher (protocol) - Wikipedia[12] FidoNet - Wikipedia[13] Library - Wikipedia[14] Bookselling - Wikipedia[15] The Art of Computer Programming - Wikipedia[16] The C Programming Language - Wikipedia[17] Robert Sedgewick (computer scientist) - Wikipedia[18] Algorithms (1983 edition) | Open Library[19] Users' group - Wikipedia[20] Conversation - Wikipedia[21] Byte (magazine) - Wikipedia[22] Dr. Dobb's Journal - Wikipedia

Which is right? Creating a user guide or creating an user guide?

Creating a user guide. The general thumb rule is to go by the sound of the first syllable and not the letter. If you have a consonant sound in the beginning, use a. If you have a vowel sound in the beginning, use an.User is pronounced yoo-ser, and not oo-ser or ah-serSo it should be preceded by a and not an, even though u is a vowel.Of course, I'll be back in an hour to check if I have got an upvote to this answer.

Feedbacks from Our Clients

I bought a service on June 29th last year VIA Paypal. Little did I know that somehow this service was set up for recurring service and they charged my bank account $59.99 on June 29th 2018. I requested a refund from paypal and they denied my request. Why, I don't know, as they don't give a reason. CocoDoc will not reply to emails and seem to be unwilling to give me a refund as they referred me back to paypal. This is a chinese company also. BEWARE, I will have to dispute this through my bank account and continue to bring more awareness to this scam company. By the way, the initial service I purchased didn't work at all either. Similar to the other claims from other people.
