I asked the Beauty Shop owner where she kept her desktop computer that caused this. She said under her makeup counter. Apparently she dropped a container of Talcum Powder near the computer on the floor and a cloud of talc got sucked into the vents…and onto the cooling fans…and got into the fans ball bearings…until the grease that lubricated the fan ground to a halt…in turn, causing this video card to burn out.Peanut butter!I didn’t ask.

How about consensual cannibalism, as you willingly allowing a cannibal to kill and eat you?“Wait, that can’t happen!”, you’ll say.Well, it can, and has happened. Allow me to share one such case from recent history.The cannibal in question is Armin Meiwes:[1]Also known as the Rotenburg Cannibal or Der Metzgermeister (The Master Butcher), he’s a former computer repair technician.In the year 2001, he placed an ad on a pro-cannibalism online forum where he mentioned that he was looking for a well-built 18 to 30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed. Meiwes would talk to the people who responded, and when they backed out, he would respect their wishes.Finally, a guy from Berlin named Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes agreed to be the one to fulfill Meiwes’s wish. Talking about wishes, while Meiwes had the fantasy to eat somebody, Armando Brandes had the fantasy to be eaten by someone (quite literally), both being equally passionate.Armando Brandes went to Meiwes’s house on March 9, 2001, to do what both of them had agreed upon. They also decided to record everything on a videotape. He then took a fistful of sleeping pills and downed them with half a bottle of schnapps (an alcoholic drink). Before all that, however, he gave Meiwes permission to sever his penis.Brandes then laid down in Meiwes’s bathtub where the latter would start severing his penis.(Yes, this is the bathtub where it happened)After the penis was severed, Meiwes drew Brandes a bath, cooked the penis and both decided to eat it. However, Brandes could only take one bite of it before becoming too weak to continue. Meiwes would then check on him every 15 minutes to see if he had died or not. When Brandes fell unconscious, Meiwes stabbed in his throat to kill him.He would then hang the body on a meat hook and begin severing the body parts. Over the next 10 months, he devoured over 40 pounds of Brandes’s flesh.The incident came to light in December 2001 when a college student found a new ad Meiwes posted looking for a new victim. He phoned the police who then recovered the body parts not yet consumed, as well as the videotape. Meiwes too confessed to cannibalism.He was then convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 and a half years in prison. However, in 2006, his sentence was changed to life imprisonment. Charles Mathews Manly, in 1901.Manly built the engine for Samuel P. Langley’s “Aerodrome” flying machine, which he twice piloted on it’s plunge into the Potomac. I should point out right away that Manly survives, went on to work for Curtis, and ended up with 40 patents including one for hydraulic engine valve lifters which remained state of the art for many years.Manly’s engine, the Manly-Balzer, was the world’s first purpose-built aircraft engine. By the time Langley decided he was ready to build a manned flying machine (he was mistaken in that view) he knew no engine in the world had sufficient power for its weight.Nearby in New York, Hungarian immigrant/watch repair technician/informally schooled tinkerer Stephen Balzer had invented a successful three cylinder rotary engine for an early car. To be clear, this was not a Wankel engine, which is what we often mean by “rotary engine” today. This is the older use of the term “rotary,” in which the cylinders spun around a fixed crankshaft in order to self-cool without need for a fan or water bath.Balzer thought he could meet Langley’s needs by scaling the design up to five cylinders. When the effort failed, Langley’s mechanical assistant, C.M. Manly took over, reworking the engine into a more powerful (if less weight efficient) water cooled radial engine.The engine was a success, but Langley’s Aerdrome was a mechanically unsound death trap, and he went on to more other things like running the Smithsonian, while the Wright Brothers used science and practical bicycle mechanics to construct the world’s first controllable, manned flying machine.Soon after, both Balzer and Manly’s engine design principles came to dominate aircraft design. Early aircraft engines were rotary: the propeller was bolted to the crankcase and the whole engine spun to self cool. Rotary engines offered terrific power to weight performance, but at the cost of tremendous countertorque and fundamental throttle control and engine management limitations.Most rotary engines had no throttle. To reduce power, the pilot had to repeatedly and manually interrupt the ignition—but not for too long or the engine would die with no way to restart it in flight.As larger engines were needed, radial engines returned—this time air cooled using large aluminum heat sinks molded into the cylinders, with air resistance controlled by the “Low Drag N.A.C.A Cowling” developed in wind tunnels at what is now NASA’s Langley Research Center.
