My former boss asked me to reimplement HTTPS.About two years ago I was the sole developer on a web application that would handle sensitive user data.After designing the core functionality of the software, my boss at the time said that all the data on the requests should always be encrypted. My response is that HTTPS already did that for us. He answered me saying that we should not trust HTTPS, but build our own version of it.Trying to re-implement a web standard that handles security and Cryptography is a very bad idea.
