PDF Editor FAQ
What are your views on Karnataka MP requesting IT employees to stop working from home and come back to Bangalore?
15 March 2020: Just a rewind to the Pre Covid Era, Bangalore was a bustling city with people having to travel for 2 hours for a 15 kms journey. My offices at both Whitefield and Manyata has lot of small restaurants, street shops always running busy and earning far more than what I could dream off. There was a sense of emergency in the city always, with people running havoc with little regard for humanity.Few of my friends, took loans, borrowed money from Parents, In laws, mortgaged gold to buy multi storeyed apartments to let down for rent/lease and were getting a big margin apart from EMI. This was the second source of revenue apart from the salaryAlso the PG business in Marathahalli, BTM Layout etc were running handsomely with IT guys paying a lot for paltry facilities. Not to forget,House owners literally swindling money from tenants with the exorbitant rents, half of the salary goes towards rent.Lot of restaurants started cropping up in IT dominated areas of Marathahalli, Whitefield, Electronic city, Hebbal, in every nook and corner, serving Hyderabadi Briyani or famous north Indian joints, but not living up to the standard of a small restaurant, leave aside authentic. Also the cab industry, including Ola, Uber and office private cabs were prevalent anywhere in the city bypassing all traffic rules, literally making travel to office a tiresome journey.AC buses run by KSRTC are the most expensive public transport in the country, with conductors not paying the balance properly and little respect to passengers, but they are always full.Real estate market in Bangalore are highly inflated, that they would literally fleece away all your hard earned money, but it happens in all cities. Also the ever prevalent pubs in Bangalore and the Beverage shops adding to the revenue of the government, that a youngster has to completely churn out all money back to the city for the mentioned reasons without anything left for savings.BESCOM bills are highest in the country, almost double than that of other states. How much does a normal citizen has to pay to survive in the city. There could be more public welfare measures.Fast forward, Urgency created artificially by human beings is absent, with a sense of calm among the native people and breath of fresh air.Yes WFH has its own share of its disadvantages, with people having to spend almost 13–14 hours, instead of the normal 8–9 hours, but the productivity has increased multi fold, with people not having to travel for hours and time can be used for family and better purpose.City cannot run only on IT service alone, with so many ancillary industries depending on that. Self sustaining industries have to be engaged and population has to be spread out across the state, not just on one city alone.New businesses can be attributed to greed, with people running mad to set up restaurants, PGs every other day, buy vehicles to rent. Why not be a little calm and composed and let people live a peaceful life.Real estate is all run by politicians and corporates, that's the reason they wanted people to come back ASAP, otherwise all their apartments would turn into ghost houses.I strongly city of Bangalore is high inflated, that the city would burst if the same rat race continues. Instead this is a market correction done by nature itself to allow us to mend our ways and preserve nature.
How can I help farmers in Tamilnadu?
Things which I am going to say might be a small change but the impact will be surely big if every single individual in Tamil Nadu tries to do this.first thing, avoid fancy beverages like Coke, Pepsi or even Bovonto. Start drinking tender coconut, sugar cane juice (don't buy the packed ones available in super market, go to an actual shop… if you understand what I mean)Go to Hotels which serve food on Banana leafAvoid packet (or carton) milk, there are some people who have cows in their homes and supply milk on demand (even in metro cities)Buy fresh products from them directly if possible, or even the local dwellers. Avoid supermarkets (the impact will be very high)don't buy lands (which can be cultivable). These are very small things but if followed in every household, then FMCG sector will have less upper hand in the farmers life. No farmer needs our way of scientific education or our sympathies, they just need our support. They have more knowledge on how to do their farming and get crops out of it.
Why is North Korea so fascinating?
I’ll focus my answers on what I have seen there while visiting in May 2013. This is part 2 of my trove of images and observations about North Korea. If you guys like my answer up-vote it and I’ll dig more curiosities and pics. The DMZ on the North Korean side is not scary at all. The soldiers are nice and even our badass camera man (rumored to be secret police) was chilling with the capitalist pigs.North Korea uses Samsung air conditioners at the DMZ!North Korean countryside is gorgeous.Pyongyang boasts an awesome communist monument at the city entrance. The Arch of Reunification (officially Monument to the Three-Point Charter for National Reunification) was opened in August 2001 to commemorate Korean reunification proposals put forward by Kim Il-sung.Private stands selling stuff (flowers, beverages, etc) can be seen throughout Pyongyang. The western decadent capitalism seems to be corrupting the comrades. The capital is not that bad! I found it eerily beautiful. The Pyongyang Metro is among the deepest metros in the world, with the track at over 110 metres (360 ft) deep underground. Due to the depth of the metro and the lack of outside segments, its stations can double as bomb shelters, with blast doors in place at hallways. It takes three and a half minutes from the ground to the platform by escalator. The metro is so deep that the temperature of the platform maintains a constant 18 °C (64 °F) all year. When you arrive at the platform, you are greeted by a jubilant mosaic of the country’s founder, Kim Il Sung. Portraits of the leaders are even inside the wagons. The North Korean Arch of Triumph (Korean: 개선문) was built to commemorate the Korean resistance to Japan from 1925 to 1945.North Korea has a closed Internet system accessible to the population in the Kim Il Sung library.North Korea has their own version of Google in their Library, available from 9 to 5 pm. In this picture, my friend asked him what is the meaning of life (really) and he answered reciting North Korean poetry written by… of course, Kim Il Sung. Super badass!Part 1 (06/13/2017)They serve burgers in the plane from Beijing to Pyongyang!Hotel room at the Yanggakdo International hotel in Pyongyang was pretty awesome with a 1970s vibe. Our group of capitalist pigs were the only ones eating breakfast during all our days in North Korea. You can not take pictures of the statues of the leaders and crop them. They must always feature their full bodies (as shown). You can not take pictures from behind either. All citizens of North Korea must wear a pin with a picture of one of the leaders. Foreigners cannot wear them without the risk of being imprisoned (so I was told by our guides).Pyongyang and surroundings are quite beautiful. The Ryugyong Hotel is a 330m tall pyramid shaped hotel. Construction began in 1987 but was halted in 1992 as North Korea entered a period of economic crisis after the fall of the Soviet Union. After 1992 the building stood topped out, but without any windows or interior fittings. In 2008 construction resumed, and the exterior was completed in 2011. A partial opening was announced for 2013, but was cancelled. There is actually a circus in Pyongyang. It is quite bizarre and the ringmistress made a spectacular entrance sitting on the top of a nuclear missile! *I couldn’t photograph the missile because the lights were out.North Korea has a brand of cars. Founded in 2000, Pyeonghwa Motors in Nampo is an auto manufacturing and retailing joint venture between South Korea's Pyeonghwa Motors (owned by Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church) and the North Korea's Ryonbong General Corp. This is a picture I took of one of the models in the streets of Pyongyang. There are actually modern buildings in Pyongyang. Chinese built.Buildings exteriors are well kept in Pyongyang. Not sure about the interiors though. I’ve heard most of them don’t have even hot water and heating.Traffic is almost non-existent. But tourist buses and official cars are seen everywhere. In the picture, the famous traffic girl. You can buy imported food and even Coca-Cola at the shop in the Embassy compound. You can not leave your hotel without your minders. But I went to my embassy and snuck out with the Ambassador for a quick tour of Pyongyang with no eyes on me. I could have been arrested for taking these pictures. When night strikes, only the modern part of the city and the monuments are illuminated.P.s.: Although this thread is intended to be light hearted let's not forget North Korean leaders are brutal and evil dictators.
