No… you should NOT focus much on previous year questions. It’s a scam !See, most of your coaching institutes will make sure that you learn concepts which have been asked in these questions. And that’s why, previous year questions always seem easy. This might give you a false sense of confidence that probably the exam is easy.I attempted previous year question papers altogether during the final month of my preparation. I attempted them as question papers, that is, not chapter wise.When you’re preparing you should attempt all questions, all examples, all illustrations etc.Pro tip: HC Verma’s ‘end chapter examples’ teach you some concepts which are not covered in its questions

In 2019 physics board exam, i had attempted total of 21 marks out of which only 6 marks i was getting correctly.I was sure that i wont be able to pass, even everyone around me was saying that you should atleast attemptted all the questions.Even from 1st april onward, i started preparing for supplementary. But when result came out i got 33 out of 70.I know you wont believe but it is true.Even i could not believe on my eyes when i saw cbse final result.Note:-It depends a lot on the mood and knowledge of the teacher checking the copy.Thanks everyone for your upvotes as it is my first answer on quora. I hope you have enough basic knowledge in the topics. To check that, try to solve the questions in the mock test after the test is completed. See how many questions you can solve without the time limit. If you can solve 25+ questions, you're good to go.Mock tests are done to tackle the time management. Even if you are well versed in all the sections, that never guarantees your selection. It's all about how you score the maximum in the limited time. For that you have understand your strengths & weaknesses. From the analysis of Testbook mocks, you can understand your accuracy, how much time you're taking to solve a question & which topics you're strong & weak.I'll give you few tips for time management:For IBPS exams you should know which questions you should skip & which you should attempt. You can analyse that checking the time you've taken to solve each question in the mocks.While doing the test, you shouldn't try to attempt all the questions in order as given in the paper. In the first round, attempt all the questions which you can solve too easily and quickly (like, Simplification, Approximation, Percentage, number system, linear/quadratic equations). That depends on your strengths in topics as well. You should skip all the other questions including word problems in the first round. You may solve small word problems, if any. In first round focus should only be on your easiest topics.As you skip, mark the word problems or questions which you think you can solve for sure. Just check the type of question by giving a quick glance while skipping as see if the question is from your strong topics.Since DI questions are asked 5 in a row, mark the first questions from the section.In the second round come back & solve the DI questions & word problems which you've marked. You may skip DI questions if you feel that it's difficult or would take lot of time.After completing the questions in the second round, start doing the questions you haven't attempted. Make use of the floating bar from which you can see which are the marked & unattempted questions & go directly to the questions instead of clicking next.The main factor is to understand for yourself if you can solve a question or not & how long it will take for you to solve. Categorise the questions based on that for each round. Easiest & quickest questions in the first, easy yet moderately time consuming in the second & rest in the last.You can use the same method for the reasoning too. Do the puzzles, seating arrangement questions in the second or third round only, based on your confidence.Make maximum use of floating bar to see the marked questions and unattempted questions. Don't waste time clicking next.Skipping the questions is an art. You should be able to analyse how long you'll take to solve the question & do accordingly. Never go behind solving a hard question, wasting the time on that. In that time you can solve 2–3 easy questions.The biggest mistake candidates makes is that they focus only on learning everything on the syllabus & doesn't prepare well enough for the mocks. Like for preparing for the syllabus, you should make a strategy for attempting the exam also. You've only 20 minutes in hand. Understand how to use the maximum out of that. That's where the skill lies. It's all about understanding your strengths & weaknesses.Try using this method & improve yourself.
