PDF Editor FAQ

Can you drop health insurance after open enrollment?

What kind of open enrollment are you referring to? The marketplace open enrollment for individual coverage or an open enrollment for an employer sponsored plan? If you’re talking about individual coverage, then yes, you can drop it anytime you wish. Now mind you, if you do that then you won’t be able to get covered again until the next marketplace open enrollment which usually starts sometime in late fall, and doesn’t become effective until January 1.Participation in an employer sponsored group plan is an entirely different animal. Those plans are governed by Internal Revenue Code Section 125 which is the law that allows your payroll deductions for your share of your health coverage to done on a pretax basis. If that’s the open enrollment you refer to then the answer is a definite no. Once you enroll in your employers coverage you are committed to staying on the plan till the end of the plan year. This fact is prominently communicated to the employees at the time of enrollment and is explained in pretty much every employee enrollment guide I’ve ever seen. Here is an excerpt from one;“Section 125” is the part of the Internal Revenue Code that governs cafeteria plans and other flexible benefit plans. Since the plans are regulated by the Internal Revenue Code, benefit choices are binding for the entire plan year and can only be changed mid-year as the result of “qualifying status events,” such as:° the birth of a child/adoption ° marriage or divorce ° change in eligibility status° court orders ° loss of coverage ° death of a dependentIf you experience any of the events listed above, you must contact the HR Benefits Department, at xxx-xxx-xxxx for the appropriate forms, which need to be submitted along with your supporting documentation within 30 days from the date of the event. You may be eligible to make changes to medical, dental, life insurance, disability, legal, FSAs, and dependent life insurance depending on the qualifying event.

What is the cutoff for MBA admissions in Pumba?

To start with, getting admission in DMS Pumba is quite a struggle atleast for students like me who are OHU(Other than Home University) candidate. There are multiple methods to get admission in Pumba. To get a clear idea let's first understand seat matrixTotal seats-198That gets divided further to,153 Maharashtra state seats ,27 All India seats and 18 EWS( Economically Weaker section) seatsThe 153 Maharashtra state seats are further subdivided into Home(125 seats) and Other than Home University seats(28 seats). That's it with the seat distribution. Now let's talk about Methods:Method 1: CAP RoundsThere is not much to it, very much similar to a typical CAP Round process. Following are the Cutoffs after CAP round III:OHU Open: score 124 rank 496OHU OBC: score 121 rank 664OHU SC: score 115 rank 1082OHU SEBC: score 113 rank 1165OHU ST: score 90 rank 3685Orphan(2 seats): score 123 rank 555HU Open: score 121 rank 669HU OBC:. score 112 rank 1251HU SEBC : score 104 rank 2043HU SC:. score 100 rank 2468HU ST: score 65 rank 8208Cutoffs fluctuate during cap round 1,2,3 and 4. The generic trend of fluctuation is usually downwards. But the difference is marginal. My forcast for this year's cutoff is that it will be very high as few of the institutes are backing out of the cap process, that will place Pumba upward in every students priority list on Option form for CAP.Method 2: All India seatsScores from multiple exams recognized by CET can also land you a seat in DMS Pumba. Few of those exams are CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT and ATMA. I got mine in All India quota with the help of CMAT with All India rank 220.Though there is a huge difference between level of XAT, CMAT and CAT in comparison with MAT and ATMA, the percentile are considered equivalent. That's the only downside to it. Anyway there is still confusion on acceptablity of MAT, ATMA and XAT this year .Following is the Cutoff for all India quota:Score: 99.6%ileRank: 515Method 3: ILS (Vacant Seats)Being a government institutions DMS Pumba cannot offer Institute level seats, but vacant seats left after CAP round are floated for direct admissions on institute level post Cap rounds. Usually the number of seats vacant are 15 and more. You have to fill a separate form to get enrolled for the the process. Additionally once the schedule for the process is declared a counselling round is conducted. Admissions are given on pure merit basis.Well that summarize it all that's it for now, any queries you can put them in comments section. I'll try to cater them if possible.Don't forget to Upvote,✌️✌️✌️✌️

What strategy should I follow in each section in the MAH MBA CET?

This is my MAH-MBA CET-2018 story. After my disastrous performance in CAT 2017, I was hoping to convert the SPJIMR profile-based call since I had a pretty good interview there. Other than SPJIMR, I only had a call from IIM Indore. I had already left my job. So, I was desperate to get into a tier 1 B-school this year. I had filled the form for MAH-MBA CET 2018 but I always considered it as a backup option. I was not serious about it until March 1, 2018 when SPJIMR results were declared. I was waitlisted with almost zero chances of conversion. Never thought that the backup option would turn out to be the only best option possible.Around 1 lakh people give CET every year. I was targeting the top B-School through CET, i.e., Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS). Last year, the cut-off for general category Maharashtra domiciled students was around 99.93 percentile. For All India seats, the cut-off goes as high as 99.99 percentile. So in order to secure admission in JBIMS, I had to get anything upwards of 99.93 percentile.MAH-MBA CET -2018 was to be conducted across 2 days (10th and 11th March) with 2 slots per day. I had my slot on 11th March at 1:00 pm. I enrolled for the TIME MHCET-18 Enhanced package on 3rd March. So I had a total of 7 days to prepare for the exam. Now MBA CET is different game altogether. There are 200 questions spread across the following sections:Logical Reasoning: 75 questionsAbstract Reasoning: 25 questionsVerbal Ability/ Reading Comprehension: 50 questionsQuantitative Ability & Data Interpretation: 50 questionsEach question carries 1 mark. No negative marking. Time allotted is 150 minutes to solve these 200 questions. Unlike CAT, where one gets 180 minutes to solve 100 questions. So time is the key factor in CET. One needs to comprehend and solve each problem as quickly as possible. In CET, one can jump from one section to another any number of times during the course of the exam. There is a new section: Abstract reasoning. One should get as much practice as possible in this section. Also I considered my Verbal ability to be weak since I had performed badly in this section in CAT. So I required additional practice in this section.I started with a mock test to understand the pattern of the paper. I started with Quantitative ability section, solved all 50 questions but took around 75 minutes. Then went to Logical Reasoning, solved all 75 questions but the time for the test had ended. I had no time left for the other two sections. Scored just 96 in the first mock. This is when I realised that a strict timing division is to be followed so that adequate time can be given to each section. I solved 2-3 sectional tests on abstract reasoning and a couple on Verbal ability.Took my second mock. This time I started with logical reasoning, tried to solve all 75 questions and exhausted around 70 minutes. Followed it by the Verbal ability section (found it easier than CAT level) and solved the 50 questions in around 35 minutes. Completed the abstract reasoning in another 25 minutes. I was left with only 20 minutes for the 50 quant questions. Could solve only 25. Scored 125 in my second mock. Felt 15 marks short in the quants section. Now I had to optimise my time in the Logical reasoning section. Solved 2-3 sectionals keeping a time limit of 60 minutes. Solved another couple of sectionals on abstract reasoning keeping a time limit of 20 minutes for the 25 questions. Every minute saved in other sections would lift my quant score and hence my overall score.Took my third mock. This time I started with Verbal ability. Completed it in 30 minutes. Followed it by the abstract reasoning. Exhausted another 20 minutes. Went to Logical Reasoning. Solved some 60 questions in 60 minutes. Skipped the remaining 15 questions. Now I was left with around 40 minutes for the 50 quant questions. This section being my strength, I was able to solve around 45 questions. Scored a 155 in my third mock. I finalised my time division and sequence of solving as follows:1. Verbal Ability- 30 minutes2. Abstract Reasoning- 20 minutes3. Logical Reasoning- 60 minutes4. Quantitative Ability- 40 minutesI solved another 10 mocks and around 25 sectionals tests with the same strategy. Scored in between 140 & 155 in each of them. This strategy suited me well. I was able to give adequate time to all sections and end up getting sufficient time for the quants section, where I could score well.Followed the same strategy in the CET exam. I solved only one of the two Reading comprehensions since I had exhausted my 30 minutes. Solved 22 abstract reasoning question (Total 25) in the 20 minutes. Previous slots’ analysis showed that the puzzles in the Logical reasoning section were quite difficult and one should expect the same difficulty level in this slot as well. I ended up solving 4 of the 6 puzzles. Solved some 60 questions in the 60 minutes. Solved 42 quant questions in the remaining 40 minutes. Hence a genuine attempt of 160 questions. Results came on 19 March. Secured a 99.98 percentile (147 marks)P.S. Do not go to the exam with any pre-conceived notion. Analysis may show some sections to be easy and some difficult. The same may not apply to you. Adhere to your strategy. This was my strategy. This strategy won’t suit everyone. Your strengths and weaknesses may be different. Do your trials and errors in the mocks and come up with a strategy that suits you best. Apply the same in the exam. Your strategy and practice will not fail you. All the best.
