This happened during our 12th board exams around 10 years back. We were from the science stream and all were equally tense.Then there was this guy who was carefree and was least bothered about the exams.. at least that was what we thought. On the first day we had maths and all had come with geometry boxes and log books. Upon entering the hall, the invigilator made a quick inspection of the box and log books.The exams went on as usual.. and after the exams, the 'smart' guy whom we all had expected to fail went out without uttering a word.Next were physics and chemistry papers to follow on subsequent days and we were allowed to keep log books if we wished. But as there was nothing relevant from logs most of us didnt bother to. The 'smart' guy however was prompt with his book and we were all surprised in his change.The surprise comes after all the exams when a friend quizzed him on his attitude change,.. did he show his true smartness.He took out three log books, with identical covers. The first 5 and last 5 pages exactly matches the conventional log books. But in between there were around 20 pages in each book corresponding to that subject, which he had typed in a tiny font got it printed and cut in the same size as the original log book and binded in the middle.All the relevant formulas, equations and defenitions were inside. Since invigilators normally scan only the first few pages and the fonts exactly match there was nothing odd.Truly smart indeed... though not legalSample Log book image from Google

Here goes my day,Job: Refinery Production EngineerI usually work in 8 hrs shifts and will be describing my day during a morning shift . i.e from 0600 hrs to 1400 hrs.Here is my day for youWake up at 0450 hrs, have shower and freshen up, leave for work by 0530 hrs.Reach refinery at 0600 hrsRead previous shift log books and reports. Inspect all plant plant parameters and see what are the current issues that need resolution. Plan for the jobs that are to be executed for the dayHave breakfast at work from 0700 hrs to 0730 hrs.At 0730 hrs, go for a field inspection round and return by 0800hrs.Start job distribution and resource allocation for various jobs that need to be carried out in plant. This takes me upto 1000 hrs.Again visit the unit area to follow up on the jobs that were being carried out since previous day or shift. Provide my supervision, for the jobs that i have allotted to ensure their completion in a safe and time bound manner. By this time its already 1200 hrs.Return back to my cabin and perform plant performance evaluations/ calculations and data reconcillation for my plant. Get and analyse the product quality sampling reports and make necessary changes in plant parameters for correcting any deviations. This is done till 1300 hrs.Lunch from 1300 hrs till 1330 hrs.From 1330 hrs to 1400 hrs, write my shift report and logs for the next incharge engineer. Also stretch out a little.1400 hrs——-Yipeee my shift is over, and I head back home.
