PDF Editor FAQ

Why do you think Harper Lee only wrote one novel, To Kill a Mockingbird?

From what I have read, she was a very private, introverted individual. “To Kill a Mockingbird “ was highly successful- it remains one of the best selling novels of all time, and is constantly being rediscovered. This bought Harper Lee fame, but also unwanted constant attention. I read that she was working on another novel, but it was misplaced or stolen, and so lost motivation.I am in the “camp” that doubts that she penned the Watchman book.

The Ivy League: Which campus is prettiest: Yale, Harvard, or Princeton?

I'll go with Princeton.(near the towpath east of Lake Carnegie)There is a colonial gentility, rolling hills that get prettier and prettier heading west towards Pennsylvania. It's a country setting with giant 300-year-old elm trees George Washington camped, planted, or otherwise consecrated. Spring is a bastard child of fertility and quiet grace, summer has humidity and violent storms, fall is wistful and romantic, and winter is snowy and huddled. There is ivy everywhere, no mystery why it's the Ivy League. Here's something I wrote about Princeton, in a love letter, about 20 years ago:(Lake Carnegie in the fall)We labored years and years over dusty philosophers and endless scientists, convinced we were destined for greatness. Late night lounges, libraries, pizza and beer, studying, reflecting drunkenly in the wake of a difficult party and the inevitable romantic snub. "Why", I would ask myself in the bucolic faint light of a New Jersey dawn, "is life always the same?"Spring mornings This Side of new jersey were Paradise. Come five or five-thirty mockingbirds sang from the giant elm trees overhead. Turrets and spires were dim, the rabble of hyperactive students suspended inside. A faint glow would diffuse into the haze as congregations of squirrels assembled for their morning business. Occasionally a brown rabbit would amble across the flagstone path. Have you seen a rabbit amble? In the Jersey dawn rabbits wander unconcerned, that's how tranquil it was. Even the squirrels were deliberate and content.(campus with snow)Not on the list, but I'd also nominate Cornell and UVA.

Is the "Xinjiang Uyghurs" thing entirely a myth?

Of course it’s not a myth, silly! Uighurs are real! They aren’t like Santa Clause and unicorns! It’s just that they aren’t being exterminated in mass murder camps. China isn’t running their own version of Nazi Germany. Xi Jinping is not Hitler. You see, the US is trying to fight a Cold War with China but China isn’t interested. Xi Jinping and those under him are very wise. Brilliant actually, because the US is throwing everything they can at China on multiple fronts. But China remains unmoved, resolute, strong in the face of pressure. The US may start wars everywhere else but China is telling the US to get their troublemaking backsides off of their lawn and to go home. The US harasses China in the SCS about Taiwan. The US harasses China’s financial district in Hong Kong. The US surrounds China in military bases from all sides. The US harasses China about Tibet.Coincidentally Xinjiang separates China and the US theatre for war in the Middle East. Oooops! Didn’t know that, did you?The US has admitted there is no genocide (state department). The US has admitted that they lie and are proud of it (Pompeo). The US admits that they run disinformation counterintelligence programs (Mockingbird, COINTELPRO etc). And the US has a terrible track record of starting wars and killing civilians whenever they want to “help spread democracy” (every war and intervention since WWII, literally). The US also thinks it runs the world and that China is about to surpass them as a superpower. Well they don’t run the world, but China is about to surpass them, and anything that will derail China’s success is fair game to the US government. It’s no myth that Xinjiang and Uighurs exist. It’s a myth every time you turn on Western media.
