PDF Editor FAQ

What are some things that feminists do wrong?

Want 50% female representation in fields such as investment banking, entrepreneurship, engineering etc…Repeated studies show that women just don't want to be in those fields as much as men.I mean, do we hear about ‘discrimination' against men because of their underrepresentation in nursing or human resources?Take it a step further - does anyone argue that criminal systems need reform because prisons have far more men prisoners than women? That men are discriminated against here?Men and women, on average, are different. And they use different criteria to make career choices. The focus needs to shift from equal numbers to equal opportunities, because the two goals are very different.

Can a white, affluent male be the victim of discrimination?

Yes, of course.I am white and male. And if not “affluent” exactly, certainly decently well-off.And no, this is not about to turn into a pathos-inducing anecdote of a time I was discriminated against. I haven’t been, so far as I’m aware. I’ve been treated pretty fairly in life, and I have no reason to think that the times I haven’t have been because of being white, male, or affluent. But I could be. The question isn’t about frequency or probability, but about possibility. And there are two critical reasons why I easily could be discriminated against.First, as any self-consistent advocate of modern social justice theory would have to acknowledge, I’m not just white, male, and affluent.I’m also fat.I’m also autistic.I’m also a nerd.I’m also a conservative in a Blue State (one of the bluest in the nation). The fact that I’m white, male, and affluent may very likely “cushion the blow” of any discrimination that I may hypothetically suffer on any of those grounds—but it doesn’t make it somehow not discrimination. If “intersectionality” is going to be a thing, it has to be a thing even for white, affluent males. Otherwise it’s rank hypocrisy.Second, “critical” theory notwithstanding, anyone who claims that a white person can’t be discriminated against for being white or a male for being male or a wealthy person for being wealthy is simply ignorant or lying.Oh, don’t get me wrong, I may not agree but I know many people who might sincerely and intelligently argue that such forms of discrimination are simply not a significant problem, or that they rank very low on a priority order of things to worry about and fix.But no one can say they don’t exist unless they’re simply not paying attention. When a college administration has one standard of wrongdoing for all other cases and a different standard (either de jure or merely de facto) for male students accused of rape, or when governments dedicate significant resources towards shelters for homeless or battered women but none for homeless or battered men—that’s discrimination against men. When any institution has race-based affirmative action—that’s discrimination against whites. When people argue for confiscatory taxation on the wealthy for no reason other than their greater wealth—that’s discrimination against the affluent. And that’s just on a policy level, within America. We could fairly debate whether any of this discrimination might be justified—but discrimination being justified doesn’t make it not discrimination. On an individual level, it’s even easier to prove. Will anyone seriously claim that there are no women who are misandrists and treat men poorly for being men? Or no black people who are anti-white racists and treat white people poorly for being white? Or no poor or working class people who despise the rich and treat them poorly for being rich? And going outside America, it becomes trivial. Anyone who can claim that white people haven’t been discriminated against in Zimbabwe under Mugabe is flatly ridiculous.Again, this isn’t about claiming that “white men are the real victims” or any alt-white nonsense like that. The point isn’t to try to “win” the Victim Gold Medal for “my side”.The point is that anyone can discriminate—not only white, affluent males. And that means that white, affluent males can be the targets of such discrimination. And not only in theory—in actuality.Original Question:“Can a white, affluent male be the victim of discrimination?”

Is discrimination against men real? Can you give any example of discrimination against males?

Yes. It is real. Sometimes, men are misunderstood. Okay, they aren't perfect and some of them are actually evil but generalizing this fact is also not a very good idea. Nice men do suffer because of high expectations and misunderstandings.Guys are expected to earn very well even if the job isn't of their interest. They can't peruse their hobbies and are bound to take high paying jobs. Because if they won't, who is gonna take care of family? There are no such expectations from a girl. She can choose to stay at home and enjoy even if she is well educated. Nobody is gonna raise eyebrows against her. When it comes to marriage, you simply can't trust anyone. There are thousands of cases where girl runs away with their boyfriends immediately after an arranged marriage and files a report of mental and sexual harassment against their husbands. And those innocent guys end up suffering. When it comes to relationships, they are mostly misunderstood. Men take time to actually fall for someone but when they do, it's for real. Sometimes, girls find it hard to trust them. And again guys have to suffer.Guys are expected to give up their seats while traveling in a public transport. Can't they be tired or unwell?Men can't cry. If they do, they aren't men. Why society doesn't give them right to express their feelings? They have a heart too. They get hurt too. Why the hell they shouldn't express themselves? When it comes to reservation, there is either cast based reservation or gender based. So if you are a guy and from a general category, only god can save you. At least girls do have a slight advantage here. So, to all those people who keep complaining that life isn't easy for a girl, know that it isn't easy to be a guy either. They do suffer too. May be in a different way. If we want us to be understood, we should try to understand them too.All guys aren't bad and all girls aren't innocent.
