PDF Editor FAQ
Why is Wyoming the least populated state in the US? Is there a reason why people don’t want to live there?
Lot of open area; up until energy industries/mineral extraction became noteworthy main income for state’s residents (aside from the Holy Trinity of Cheyenne, railroads, military, state government)was raising cattle.Climate is semi arid and can get cold in winter. I am wont to regularly compare temps with interior Alaska at times. We don’t get down to -40 but lots of times the temps do match up.Somewhat remote from large urban centers, though my husband and I have been known to do a date night in Denver (1.5 hours away).
Why do people always put ‘The Emo Trinity + TØP’ or ‘The Emo Qaurtet’?
The emo trinity is MCR, FOB, and Panic!, as I’m assuming you know. Twenty One Plots is categorized by most as “emo” music, and I’ve found that since they have started gaining popularity, they are more often recognized as part of the alternative community than any other community. A lot of people who like the emo trinity view Twenty One Pilots as part of it, one of the holy alternative bands that are very popular and their music resonates with a wide alternative variety, but since they are more modern they weren’t acknowledged in the original grouping of the Emo Trinity. A lot of people think Twenty One Pilots deserves a spot there, but they also respect the emo trinity enough not to try and swap out, say, Fall Out Boy and Twenty One Pilots. I hope that helps!
What is your reaction to the Bible’s claim that Jesus is the only way to God?
Is there only one way to God?There are many ways to the God Odin of my Viking ancestors. The way Vikings get into Valhalla is to earn their way in. Being good at what they do and dying in combat. What were Vikings good at? Traveling the world and finding foreign people to rape, kill and steal from. What was the Viking reward in Valhalla? Every day they would be resurrected, eat gluttonously, get drunk and then slaughter each other with swords and battle axes. What were the hallmarks of the Viking religion? One. Treat their family and friends and fellow Vikings differently than everyone else in the world. Two. You have to earn your way into Valhalla. These two hallmarks are common to most religions of the world. A third hallmark was many Gods. The Vikings believed that although Odin was head God, there were many gods. Norsk mythology, However, was unique in world religions in their acknowledgment that at the end of time, They and their gods would be defeated in the final battle (Ragnarok) by other more powerful Gods, The gods of frost and fire. The Norse gods, their followers and the entire earth will be destroyed. A new earth will be created. This new earth will not have any of the Norse gods or the followers. The Greek and Roman gods, Apollo and Zeus where similar to Odin. Apollo and Zeus were not alone, there were many gods. None of these gods held a very high opinion of people. These gods Quarreled and fought amongst themselves. Their actions in the world were determined by their moods and whims.A forth hallmark of most religions is the cyclical nature of everything. Progress was not viewed as possible because everything will cycle back to where it was over and over.In the movie little big man, native American religion is shown to have the four hallmarks of most world religions. The fervent belief in the cyclical nature of life and nature, many nature gods, earning your way into a favorable after life (Younger bear tells Little Big Man “ now that I’ve saved your life, the next time we meet I can kill you without becoming a bad person”). Also, the fact that the Cheyenne call themselves human beings. Others are not considered human beings. Vikings considered others Human beings. However, they did not care. To the Vikings, might is right.I will give credit where credit is due to other religions. While they lead people away from the one true God and some create cruel conditions like the Caste system, they have made possible the creation of cultures and societies that differ from the every tribe against the neighboring tribe conditions prevalent in so much of the world throughout history.I also feel that I need to address my references to Satan. If you don’t believe in God you don’t believe in Satan and my comments will seem odd or maybe superstitious to you. However, if you do believe in the God of the Bible, you should believe in Satan. I do believe that Satan has had a hand in turning people away from God. Satan had to balance his desire for us to do evil all the time with our desire to know God.When Satan fails to convince people to be Atheists, he does the next best thing; corrupts and distorts peoples Image of God. Multiple Gods, Creation vs. Creator, but always an impersonal God and always steering people away from Grace (forgiveness of sins offered freely because of Jesus death on the cross) and toward balancing evil acts with good acts to gain access to a better afterlife.Romans 1:19-21 ”…Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.”Hinduism teaches: that some people are better than other and some people are “untouchables”, that you have to earn your way to a better reincarnation in the after life, that there are many gods and everything is cyclical.God was known from the beginning but the most common way of turning away from God is to refuse to submit to his will. God gave man free will to choose whether or not to obey him. Obeying God’s will is what is known to us as Good. Disobeying God’s will is by definition Evil. Without God there is no Good or Evil. Without God everything is a big cosmic accident and what is is. Nothing is right or wrong, good or badEven people who know about God and believe he exists resist turning there life over to him. They want to believe that a “good God” would not punish them for doing a few bad things in their lives. Therefore, they invariably make up their own religion based, not on what God has said (God’s revelation in the Bible), but on what they want to believe about Him. I believe that this is where the religions of the world come from. When the people of the Tower of Babel spread out over the surface of the Earth. They knew about and believed in the God of the Bible but over time their evil rebellious nature allowed them to be deceived into creating new religions. Even today, a common tendency among nominal Christians is to make up their own religion based on the Bible but not believing, or knowing, what the bible says. The most common alteration to their “Christianity” is to believe that God will not send people to Hell. If people are “mostly good”, not outright obviously evil, they will go to heaven. In Romans 3: 23 Paul says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. ”In other words everyone has sinned and has been separated from God and cut off from Heaven. Paul goes on to say;“and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.”In other words, because we have separated ourselves from God and been cut off from Heaven our only way back is by accepting the gift that Jesus has offered us.Usually, making up your own religion is a personal thing. You believe what you want to believe even if that belief has no source or foundation. Occasionally, someone come along that wants to share the religion that they made up with others. E.g. Joseph Smith who founded the Mormon Church and Charles Taze Russell who founded Jehovah’s Witnesses. These religions are known as cults. For both of these men the problem that they had with the Bible is that they and their Ideas were not included. Joseph Smith added his own book, The Book of Mormon to his religion. Charles Taze Russell Just changed some of the wording of the translations of the Bible and added his own interpretations that ignored thousands of years of scholarly study of the Bible.Charles Taze Russell did not like the idea of hell and could not understand the Concept of the Trinity (a problem that he had in common with the illiterate Mohammad). Charles Taze Russell removed the idea of hell from his cult. Then, he claimed that Jesus is not part of the Triune nature of God. That Jesus is a created being. I understand that the Triune nature of God is a difficult concept. People who’s religions believe in many God’s the Triune nature of God is not totally strange to them but to believers of monotheistic religions, Judaism, Islam and ,apparently Charles Taze Russell, the Triune nature of God is an anathema. However, although it is difficult to understand it is none the less central to Christianity. Jesus cannot be the Christ and do what we believe that he has done for us if he is not totally God, together with the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. I discuss the Triune nature of God in more detail in the essay on “The image of God”. Suffice it to say that God is not totally understandable to us. God created the universe and everything in it. He is of the Universe but He is also beyond the Universe. He is the only thing that is, as Buzz lightyear would say, “to infinity and beyond” God is beyond infinity. He is also beyond time. God created time. To say that He was before time existed is even insufficient to say because the word before is a reference to time which did not exist “before” God created time.In his masterpiece Paradise Lost John Milton indicated that not even the Angels can really comprehend God. He describes a scene when a third of the Angels of heaven had been thrown into hell and they are gathering their with wits and contemplating God “Others apart sat on a hill retired, In thoughts more elevate, and reasoned high Of Providence, Foreknowledge, Will, and Fate— Fixed fate, free will, foreknowledge absolute and found no end in wandering mazes lost.I don’t blame Charles Taze Russell for not being able to comprehend the fullness of God but the answer is not to make up something that you can understand because you made it up.Satan is the great pretender. He wants to be God and he tricks people into creating new religions that borrow just enough of the virtues God calls for to make the religions look good and holy. These religions vary in many aspects but the most prominent feature of all these religions is that you can earn your way into heaven. This is still going on today. How many Christians and Jews who claim to believe in the God of the Bible but do not want to believe that God is going to judge them. They do not want to submit their lives to Him. They want to believe that if their good outweighs their bad they will go to heaven. They are making up their own religion. If you claim to be Christian or Jewish your religion is what the Bible says it is. If not, you are just making up a religion that pleases you intellectually. However, that religion is based on nothing. It is no more that wishful thinking.Of course non-believers say that Judaeo/Christian religion is wishful thinking. Yet, Judaeo/Christian believers are not just making up their own religion, their religion is based on what the Bible says.Islam is Satan’s best act. Before the Torah (1st five books of the Bible) Satan had established influenced most religions with many Gods, most of which were nature Gods to get people to worship creation not The Creator. These religions promoted a cyclical, stuck in a rut, pessimistic view of life and the future. Satan steered those religions to make people focus on themselves, to believe that they are personally more important than anything else, to work on self improvement rather than using their gifts to be the hands of God. To love others and help others make their lives better. In spite of the distortion and mutation of the knowledge of the One true God into multiple deceptive religions there were still people who had kept true to the One true God through the generations. People like Job and Abraham. When God choose Abraham and began the process of reintroducing himself and his will to the world through the Bible and the nation of Israel, Satan needed a counter attack. When God became flesh in the form of His Son Jesus and showed everyone in the world his love for them and taught them how to love Him and to love everyone as much as they love themselves, and most importantly that earning your way into heaven is impossible, that the only way into heaven is by accepting God’s invitation as a gift not as a reward for good deeds, then Satan really needed to step up his game.Satan now had to distort and mutate Gods revealed and inspired message of the Bible that was rapidly spreading throughout the world.Satan used an ambitious, illiterate man who initially had good intentions. Mohammad saw that the Judaeo/Christian religions of the Bible were better than the polytheism of the Arab people. He recognized the truth of a one true God. Unfortunately, he was illiterate and only knew bits and pieces of the Judaeo/Christian religions and the Bible. He was also arrogant and self serving. He wanted to be known as the prophet of God, he wanted to diminish all other prophets before him and place himself above even Jesus who died and rose again to give us eternal life as a gift. Mohammad also wanted to play Moses and be the one to rewrite the Bible (through dictation) which became the Koran.Satan had a new play book. He was able to use Mohammad as his hands (and sword) to spread a new counterfeit religion. A religion that borrowed just enough truth and goodness to appear convincing. A gold coin with a tungsten center. (Tungsten has the same density/weight as gold but no value). Satan used Mohammad‘s desire for self importance to twist the word of God into something useful to Satan. This new religion, Islam, would tout One “true god” and would encourage it’s followers to live a religious life. To imitate the Judaeo/Christian religions and the Bible, Muslims were encouraged to be generous and considerate of others. To not just think of themselves. Mohammad Started out trying to promote the religion, that he had made up to satisfy his own intellectual desires, as a peaceful religion.Satan was quickly able to use Mohammad‘s need for respect and adulation to morph this new religion from one of love thy neighbor, to love and care for anyone who worships Mohammad and his version of God, convert or kill anyone else. With Islam Satan had to give up polytheistic nature gods to get people that worship the creation rather than the creator. However, he got to keep, “we are better than them and we can kill and enslave them”. He also got to keep people denying themselves the abundant, joyful life of doing Gods will as outlined in the Bible. The Koran keeps people focused on daily religious rituals. Most importantly Mohammad‘s Koran did away with eternal life as a gift and brought back “you have to earn your way into heaven”. Satan even was able to get Mohammad to go back to Norse mythology and write into the Koran that the best way to get into Heaven is to die killing innocent people who’s only “sin” is not giving Mohammad the respect that Mohammad thought he deserved.I was considering the Islamic crescent moon and star. It dawned on me that the symbolism is odd. It seems as if Satan is mocking the believers of Islam for their gullibility. This is how I see the crescent moon and star. The moon has no light of its own. The light is reflected light. The crescent moon is mostly dark but has a rim of reflected light. All effective lies use a small rim of truth to deceive. Satan is the great deceiver and always uses a little bit of truth to cover or detract from the underlying lie and darkness. I see the Crescent moon as a the dark lie of Islam with just enough reflected light of the sun/son (son of God), to appear, at least partially, to be something good. Islam copycats just enough of the jewish scriptures (old testament) and christianity (new testament) to seem virtuous. However, the vikings used virtuous traits, such as bravery, loyalty and cunning, to bind themselves together in their exploits of rape, murder and theft. Likewise, Islam uses frequent prayers and strict religious rules to cover for the underlying hatred, violence, suppression and bondage that is the larger dark moon under the reflected crescent of light. As for the star, Lucifer is also known as “the shining one”, “the morning star”.Judaism is based on belief in the Old Testament with an emphasis on the first 5 books, The Torah, as the inspired word of GodJudaism is the foundation for Christianity. As a Christian I believe that The Jews missed their messiah. The Jews rejected most of their prophets when they were alive and then venerated them posthumously. Only some Jews, the messianic Jews, have come to know Jesus as their messiah, the fulfillment of old testament prophesies. The most outspoken defendants of Christianity that I am familiar with are Jews; Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro. There is a good reason for Jews to defend Christianity and Christians to defend Judaism. Morality based on the word of the God of the Bible is what our civilization if built on.Because I have learned so much from reading Dennis Prager and following him his Prager U videos, I quote him a lot in this essay. I also critique him sometimes to point out how Christianity views things differently because of Jesus.“the Torah, the greatest repository of goodness and wisdom in human history, is the most important book ever written. It gave birth to the rest of the Bible, to Christianity, and to Western civilization. It gave us “Love your neighbor as yourself,” the Ten Commandments, a just and loving God, and every other bedrock of humane civilization.”......To cite just a few examples of what the Torah introduced to the world:A universal God (the God of all people): This began the long road to human beings believing that with one “Father in Heaven,” all human beings are brothers and sisters. An invisible, incorporeal God: Therefore, the physical is not the only reality. Life is infinitely more than the material world in which we live during our brief lifetime on earth.A moral God: All gods prior to the Torah’s God were capricious, not moral. A just and moral God meant, among other things, ultimately justice will prevail (if not in this life, in the next). It also meant human beings, imbued with a sense of justice, can argue with, and question, this just God (the name “Israel” means “wrestle with God”).A God beyond nature: God made nature, and is therefore not natural. This led to the end of the universal human belief in nature gods (such as rain gods). And sure enough, as belief in the Torah’s God declines, nature worship seems to be returning.A God Who loves and Who wants to be loved: This was another world-changing concept introduced by the Torah to the world.Universal human worth: Every human being is “created in God’s image.” Nothing like this had ever been posited prior to the Torah.Universal human rights: Another world-altering consequence of universal human worth.Dennis Prager The Rational Bible: Exodus xvi, xxI am a little jealous of Jews. In a way, the Old Testament means more to them than it does to me because it is not only the basis of their religion it is there history. It is their ancestral heritage. My ancestral history and heritage is Scandinavian (Vikings) I am Norwegian American. However, I also have a Biblical heritage, I have been adopted by God.But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12 ESVIf you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. GALATIANS 3: 29I also have the good fortune to come from a Godly heritage of Bible believing ancestors. But I do not have an ancestral, Old Testament, Biblical heritage. On the other hand, I believe that in many ways the Old Testament means more to me as a Christian than it does to a Jew.Every time that read or talk about Abraham and God calling him to sacrifice Isaac, I tear up. To a Jewish person this must seem like a strange story. A test of Abrahams faith and obedience. To me it means so much more. God called Abraham to sacrifice Isaac and let him believe that he was actually going to have to do it. At the last moment God stopped him and supplied an animal to sacrifice instead. God wanted Abraham to experience a little of what it would be like to have to sacrifice his only son. The son that had been promised to him, The son that he had to wait for most of his long life. God wanted Abraham to cherish Issac and then feel the anguish of having to give him up as a sacrifice. Why? because God wanted Abraham and everyone that reads the Bible to consider what it was going to be like for God to actually go through with giving up his son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for our sins.Every time I consider having to sacrifice one of my four sons or two daughters and realize that God actually did that for me, I cry.God was telling Abraham and us. You don’t have to make that sacrifice because I am going to make it for you. Also, as pure and innocent as Isaac was a a child, he was not actually perfectly pure and innocent. Sacrificing Isaac would still not have been enough to get Abraham into heaven, to totally pay the price for his sins. Sacrificing Isaac would have done no more than sacrificing a goat. So what does sacrificing a goat actually do? Sacrificing a goat or tithing money or giving our time to a godly cause or our life to missions does a couple of things. First it shows that we actually do believe that everything we have is given to us by God and that we are acknowledging that by giving some back. It also reminds us that there is a price to be paid for our sins. However, our offering is just a reminder and an acknowledgment, it is not sufficient. We can not get into heaven with sacrifices or with good works. Only the blood of Jesus sacrificed on the cross is sufficient to pay the price for our sins and get us into heaven.Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest [Christ] had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.(Hebrews 10: 11–12The sacrifice of Jesus was “once for all”(Hebrews 7:28; 9:12, 26; 10:12–14)Then there is the passover. Jews only see half of the meaning of the passover. The first half of the mean of passover is extremely meaningful to the Jews. By following Gods command to sacrifice a spotless lamb and smear the blood on the wooden door frame the angle of death that would strike the Egyptians would pass over them. God protected them because they were his chosen people and God would lead them out of slavery to a land promised to them by God to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If it were not for the passover and the deliverance of the nation of Israel, the Jews would not be here today. They owe their very existence to that event (among others). Jews have a very strong ancestral history and heritage tied to the tradition of the passover. As a Norwegian American Christian I don’t have that same ancestral history and heritage tied to the passover. I have Jesus. I see Jesus prophesied in every aspect of the Passover. The sacrifice of the innocent lamb so that the angel of death will pass over. the blood smeared on the wooden crossbeams, and so much more.First, “Take a lamb”It was not Christ’s sinless life that saves us, but His death on the cross.Second, “Put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe”It is not enough for the lamb to be slain. The blood was sufficient but not efficient unless applied. Every Israelite head of family had to apply it to his own household; notice that it was to go over the doorway,The hyssopNot blood in the basin but blood applied that saves a soul.“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Not feelings, not personal worthiness, but one thing saved them: “blood”Third, “Eat the lambs”After the blood was shed and applied to the doorframe, the Israelites were instructed to eat. So it is with us: Jesus has to become a part of us. Salvation first, then feeding—fellowship, worship, walk and serveFourth, “Remove the yeast”“Search me, God. . . . See if there is any offensive way in me” (Psalm 139:23-24).Yeast is often a type of sin:“Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees” (Matthew 16:6);“get rid of the old yeast” (1 Corinthians 5:7).Leaven of unrighteousness must be removed from our lives if we are to eat with God.Fifth, “Eat the meat . . . with bitter herbs”Christ tasted the bitter cup for us; and some bitterness we, too, must suffer.“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful” (Hebrews 12:11).It was to be eaten in haste with nothing left over. Not a bone was to be broken! Christ’s body was broken but not His bones (see Psalm 34:20; John 19:36)Sixth, “Be dressed and ready to travel” (Exodus 12:11, CEV).Sixth, “Be dressed and ready to travel”They ate the food standing, fully dressed, ready to go. We are to live our lives ready to go where God calls us.What a contrast that night! Peaceful feasting in the houses of Israel; awful mourning in the houses of Egypt!I took these excerpts from “What the Bible is all about” by Henrietta Mears.I also see Jesus in the tabernacleThe tabernacle: The presence of God in their midst. The outer court - Jesus death on the crossAlter - burnt offering - Jesus sacrificeBronze basin - cleansing - Jesus deathThe Holy place - Personal relationship with JesusBread of the presence - Jesus is the bread of life, “body of Jesus broken for you”.The Golden lamp stand - Jesus is the light of the worldAlter of incense - Jesus “Christ” intercession for us.Right in front of the Veil (curtain) separating the Holy place from the Holy of Holies. The Holy of HoliesVeil - Typifies the body of ChristThe Ark of the Covenant - God’s presenceInto this holy of holies, the high priest came only once a year to sprinkle the blood of atonement. (The book of Hebrews tells us that Christ is not only our High Priest but also that He was our atonement, and so we can go into the holy of holies [the presence of God] at any time with boldness.)Also taken from “What the Bible is all about” by Henrietta Mears. In his book The rational Bible Prager implies that good deeds cover our iniquities..“The Hebrew word for cover, kaporet, comes from the same root as the Hebrew word for atonement, kippur. Perhaps atonement is a way of covering our iniquities by burying them under the weight of good deeds. The association between the cover and the act of atonement serves as a reminder that just as the cover was one of the centerpieces of the Tabernacle, atonement was one of its central purposes.”Christianity recognizes that atonement is the blood of Christ covering our sins. Jews are correct in recognizing that our sins need atonement, that they need to be covered. However, they miss the messiah, Jesus, who covers our sins, even Jews turn to good deeds like all other religions instead of the Grace that God offers us through the blood of Jesus.I see Jesus in the FestivalsI see Jesus in Every book of the Old Testament.“Bible scholars refer to this kind of fulfillment as “typological.” A type is an Old Testament place, event, institution, office, object, or even person that serves as a foreshadowing of what God had planned for the future. The experience and institutions of ancient Israel are examples of Old Testament types. The nation of Israel itself is a type of Christ. New Testament scholar R.T. France summarizes the New Testament’s typological portrayal of Jesus this way: Jesus’ types are drawn from a wide range of aspects of Israel seen in the Old Testament; they are not restricted to any one period or any single class. Thus he uses persons in the Old Testament as types of himself (David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jonah) or of John the Baptist (Elijah); he refers to Old Testament institutions as types of himself and his work (the priesthood and the covenant); he sees in the experiences of Israel foreshadowings of his own; he finds the hopes of Israel fulfilled in himself and his disciples and sees his disciples as assuming the status of Israel; in Israel’s deliverance by God he sees a type of the gathering of men into his church.… In all these aspects of the Old Testament people of God Jesus sees foreshadowings of himself and his work…. Thus in his coming the history of Israel has reached its decisive point. The whole of the Old Testament is gathered up in him. He himself embodies in his own person the status and destiny of Israel, and in the community of those who belong to him that status and destiny are to be fulfilled, no longer in the nation as such. 152 That, in effect, is what Jesus says about himself on the road to Emmaus: “Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures” (Luke 24: 25–27, NASB; emphasis added).”American Evangelicals & Modern Israel, Frederic M. MartinRelationship; The other thing about the Triune nature of God is that it emphasizes relationship. The Bible is clear about the Importance of relationships. With God and with each other. (Bible Quotes). Judaism misses this relationship aspect of God. As a Christian I see that relationship is the most important thing to God because God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit have existed in relationship always. When the universe did not exist, when time, space and matter did not exist, the Triune God was in relationship. God knows that without relationship nothing else matters. God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit did not need time, space and matter but they can only exist as a three in one relationship. Likewise, all of the time free time in the world to ourselves, all of the land we can own and open space to ourselves and all of the possessions that the world have to offer do not matter and cannot make us happy and whole (or Holy) with our relationship with God and with our; Parents, children, siblings, friends, coworkers, employees, employers, next door neighbors, our neighbors across the world. It seems that Jews (and Mormons) understand and practice this need for relationship (at least with family and fellow believers) better than most Christians. They may not understand and practice this as much toward their non-Jewish (non-Mormon) neighbors. But we have to remember that we don’t either. Not the way Jesus taught. They, at least, seem to have a head start by having this kind of relationship with extended family and fellow believersJews and Mormons stick together and support each other better than most Christians. As Christians we would do well to emulate the close relationships that they have with family and fellow believers and then extend our relationships to others as well. The sacrificial system instituted in the Bible teaches us about sacrifice as part of relationship.Again to quote Dennis Prager“The fundamental idea behind the sacrificial system—giving to God something precious to us—thus remains relevant. The reason is nothing worthwhile comes without sacrifice. Parents sacrifice a great deal on behalf of their children; spouses sacrifice on behalf of their marriage; friends make sacrifices to maintain their friendships; and we sacrifice to be better at our professions. If we didn’t make sacrifices, we would lose our children, our spouses, our friends, and our jobs. But when it comes to God and religion, most people don’t think in terms of sacrifice. They think closeness to God and a religious life should come automatically, no sacrifice needed. The sacrificial system taught ancient Israelites the truth that sacrifice was necessary for a meaningful religious life.”But here again Jews miss the part where the sacrificial system was an image of perfect sacrifice of Jesus that he willingly gave out of love because of his relationships. His relationship with the Father. And his relationship with us.Prager also says;“These daily sacrifices continued to be offered until the Temple was destroyed in the first century in the year 70...Outside Orthodoxy, however, it is generally assumed sacrifices are no longer necessary because they were a temporary means of weaning the Israelites away from pagan forms of worship, most particularly child sacrifice”This is were Jews have to downplay the importance of the sacrificial system, calling it a “temporary means” instead of acknowledging that the sacrificial system just happened to become no longer necessary when Jesus came and died and rose again. While Jews downplay the sacrificial system, Christians elevate it to a image and prophesy of a far greater thing to come. When that far greater thing (the crucifixion of the messiah, Jesus) came, then the animal sacrificial system had been completely, totally and forever satisfied. Personal sacrifice, taking up your cross and following Jesus, remains.Western civilization is built on Judaeo-Christian values. Morality based on the word of the God of the Bible is what our civilization if built on.However, I believe that an understanding of the triune nature of God is central to understanding the importance of relationship. I also believe that grace alone is what gets us into heaven and understanding this is of paramount importance.Jews and even Catholics have succumb to the temptation of believing that people can earn their way into heaven. That something more than God’s grace is needed.Back to the question, Is there only one way to God?The answer is yes, there is only one way to the God of the Bible. The only way to the God of the Bible is to believe in God, the Bible and to accept Jesus as your savior. There is only one way to the God of the Bible and to heaven. According to the New Testament of the Bible you cannot earn your way into heaven with good deeds.Heaven is perfect. There is no evil. In heaven you can only do God’s will. Here on earth we are able to see and experience both good and evil, both God’s will being done and God’s will not being done.If we were to go to heaven our sinful rebellious nature to God’s would contaminate heaven. Heaven would no longer be perfect with us there. Heaven is a place with no suffering or tears. If we go to heaven as we are, we will bring our little white lies with us, our selfish deceitful nature. WE will bring suffering and tears to heaven.Only by accepting the gift offered to us by Jesus Christ and his death on the cross which has redeemed us can we get into heaven.Only by really wanting to be sinless, only by truly wanting to do God’s will and God’s will only can we be allowed into heaven. We cannot make ourselves sinless, only God can do that. And God can only do that with our permission. We have to say, “I know that I am a sinner, I don’t want to be a sinner, I want to do God’s will and only God’s will. I realize that my sins must be punished and I accept the gift offered to me by Jesus. I gratefully accept and worship Jesus for taking my punishment on himself and give my life to him in return. What about the age old problem of people not wanting to believe that a good God would send people to hell.I don’t know what hell is exactly. I only know that hell is the absence of God. In heaven we will be in the presence of God. There will be only good there. No tears, no suffering. In the absence of God there will be no good, only evil. Evil is the absence of God’s will and where there is the absence of God’s will there will only be selfishness, tears and suffering. So why will God send people to hell? The answer, according to C.S Lewis and others, is that he won’t. God is inviting us into heaven but we have to accept the invitation. So why not accept the invitation? It is a gift. The reason most people do not accept the invitation is because they like to sin. People get good at their little white lies and deceiving other to get what they want. They like their little perversions and selfish indulgences. They do not want to even try to give them up here an earth and if the have to leave them behind to go to haven they don’t want to go. They refuse the invitation. By refusing the invitation to spend eternity with God, they will spend eternity without God. The word for the absence of God is hell. You’re Sin has already separate you from God. Judgment day is not so much about God throwing you out of heaven. It’s more about letting you into heaven. Have your sins been covered by the blood of Jesus? What about the people who do not get a hand delivered invitation? Those who have never heard of the Bible or of Jesus? I don’t know. If you are interested in an answer to that question there are a lot of books on the subject. I know that many theologians believe that those who have never heard God’s word are somehow given their invitation by the Holy Spirit. They are still invited. How exactly I don’t know. However, I got my invitation and have accepted it. If you haven’t been invited before, you have been invited now. Have you accepted God’s invitation to heaven? If not will you accept it now?I saw an episode of Oprah. Oprah calls herself a Christian. However, she said that she believes that different people and different religions believe in many ways to the same god. The problem is that Jesus Christ says that there is only one way to the God of the Bible. You can believe whatever you want and you can have whatever religion you want to have. Yet, if you do not believe that Jesus is the only way to the God of the Bible and to heaven, then you are making up you own religion. To be a Christian is, by definition, to believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only intercessor that allows our sinful selves to bridge the chasm and have a right relationship restored with the Holy God that created us.Without religion, many people have gone the extreme of saying that truth is relative. I have my truth and you have your truth. Because of my religion I believe that there is absolute truth. I have to admit that I don’t always know what that truth is and sometimes I struggle with what is right and what is wrong. However, I believe that there is an absolute truth for me to seek. If I happen to get it wrong now and then, the truth still exists.I know that all of this sounds very judgmental, close minded, prejudice etc. etc. etc. So, I just want to give a little analogy to help non Christians understand where I am coming from; If I lived in a village that was in a valley below a Dam. And I believed that the dam was going to break and everyone was going to drown. I would move to higher ground and I would warn everyone else to move to higher ground. If I didn’t do anything but stayed where I was but told you that you had better get out of the way of the flood, you would doubt that I really believe what I am telling you. Now, if I tell you that the valley is going to flood and you need to follow me and then I leave for higher ground, you would have reason to think that I actually believe that the dam is going to break. You don’t have to believe that the dam is going to break but you can still believe that I believe that it is going to break. I may come off as if I am very judgmental, close minded, prejudice etc. etc. etc in trying to convince you to change your beliefs and follow me. That is only because I love you and are afraid for you. I want to save myself but I also want to save you. Only time will tell if I am right or not. But, if I am right, there will come time when it will be to late to believe me.I do believe the Bible and I do believe that the only way to be saved and have eternal life in heaven with my creator is to trust in the redeeming sacrifice for my sins of Jesus on the cross. I have moved to the higher ground where I feel safe. I want you to come up here with me. That is why I am so dogmatic about Jesus being the only way to God.
