Former bullied kids, what did your bullies do when they met you as an adult?

Free cocaine; the Walk of shame.FREE COCAINE:You'll need some backstory, so bear with me. It'll pay off, you have my word. When I was very young we moved around a lot. I was in a different school at least once every year of grade school and I attended 3 high schools.Always being the new kid made it very difficult to make new friends. This was compounded by a volatile home life. My mother was an alcoholic who fell violent to the drink, and my father wasn't always around.Much of my energy was spent trying to shield my younger sister from the shameful and harsh behavior that took place at home. My mother hung around with the same types of alcoholics and addicts. All nice enough folks in the morning, but skells and bastards come sundown.I was my sister's guardian. Of course I couldn't completely hide the things that were going on, but at least I could shield her from it. When bad things were going down, I would slip into her room and just play with her until she got tired and fell asleep. We'd turn the radio on to drown out noise and jump around and laugh like mad in hopes this would distract her from the voices beyond the door. She had no idea I was passively barring her in her room or hiding her away. But when fist fights broke out she'd hear the smashing and crashing and cussing, and she would become hysterical. Often it was our mother that was fighting. Men, women, ME... she was liable to attack anyone after a fifth of Absolute. That was my greatest fear. What if she entered this state with my sister in the room?!? I had to keep my sister away… So I would do my best to distract and comfort her. As a child, I felt there was nothing more I could do.Countless nights I sat awake until dawn, standing vigilant outside my sister door. I would wait until my mother passed out and the scumbags had left the property before I would rest myself. Once she passed out, my mother would NEVER wake up, so I knew it was ok to rest. There were times she would pass out naked on the floor, or with one of these dirtbags and I couldn't let my sister see this, so I would have to move her, cover her or even dump a pot of ice water on her to wake her up enough to get her onto a couch or bed.I would try to sleep for an hour or two, maybe three on an early night and then I'd get my sister up for school. We'd have good times together in the morning. For us this was normal. It was what we knew.My sister wasn't fully aware of what was really happening at home. She left happy every morning, which translated well for her outside the home. At school she was well adjusted and popular. And she was TOUGH which translated well for her in sports.I wasn't so lucky. I was exhausted in the mornings after the adults’ parties. Physically and emotionally. So much so that I usually wouldn't even make it to school. In fact halfway through 9th grade a social worker told me I was averaging 3 absences a week. When I did make it to school, I was the outcast. I didn't have a clique of friends, I was withdrawn and I didn't wear name brand clothes. Plus I was always the new kid! But what made things particularly hard was my fear of getting into any kind of trouble because of what the ramifications might be when addiction was thrown into the mix.My mother ALWAYS preached her 2 rules to me.1- God help me if I ever get caught fighting.2- If I ever got arrested I better tell the cops not to send me home. Those sound like two VERY reasonable rules, but in my family they carried a particular gravity…So I did all I could to avoid trouble. And the more I walked away, the worse it got. And we lived in a tough neighborhood, so it got pretty bad. I was teased, harassed, made a fool of. I was called poor because of my clothes, I was called weird and a loser for being a bit introverted and I was notorious for being a huge pushover because I was a pretty big kid (6′ 240 lbs in 8th grade) who wouldn't fight back… I think this made me a prime target for bullies because they could show people they were SO TOUGH and SCARY, they could even slap around someone as big as me… so I was slapped, punched, even jumped a few times, ALWAYS in public so people could see how badass these bullies are. This ate me up inside. It was worse than my mother's drinking. At least at home I could DEFEND myself to a degree… well maybe a little more than to a degree…You see, I had a group of friends that lived in the next town over. Same type of neighborhood, same type of home lives. These were my oldest friends, the only friends I ever stayed in touch with all these years and through all the moving from place to place. They KNEW me, and I knew them and we were our support system. When my sister went to visit her father on weekends, I hitched a ride to spend the weekends with my “brothers from other mothers”. This was our escape. We were tough and we were angry… so we fought. It was our release. We fought each other every weekend. In my friends basement. Full on, full contact fighting. My friends had began training in American Combat, Jiu-Jitsu and boxing a couple years prior, and we'd spend weekends talking and bonding, drinking beer and grilling burgers… but mostly we worked out, sparred, discussed lessons we'd learned in our schools, practiced them and then we fought. Everyone fought at least once every weekend. We had matchups and fight cards scheduled each week. We tried to emulate fighting in all different settings, against different styles and different individuals. It was MMA before MMA was a mainstream thing. It sounds crazy. Looking back as an adult, it IS crazy. But in a strange perverse way, it saved our lives. It made us closer than any friendship I've experienced since. It got us THROUGH, and helped us cope. In fact, I honestly would attribute our unique friendship to us all staying out of trouble, staying away from drugs and eventually becoming successful adults. I mean, any one of us could've been the first Columbine… we we're THAT angry…But I digress. So by 14 I was a bouncer in my own house. I was regularly breaking up altercations, physically removing grown men from the house and on more than one occasion putting an asshole to sleep. Even knocked one of mom's loser boyfriend's straight through the storm door (that one felt great, I have to be honest).I developed a reputation with a lot of the “tough guys” around the neighborhood. They'd kiss my ass whenever they came around. Sometimes they'd show up for a weekend bonfire with my mother in the back yard with a fellow dirtbag from out of town, get good and liquored up and dare their friend to let me punch him or even try to provoke me. I liked punching these guys in the face… even though we'd never met, I resented them for even being intoxicated at my house with my sister home. To me, they all represented the same demon that is addiction…But again, I WAS FOURTEEN.It tore me up inside knowing that every day I'd be accosted by one group of kids or another, and they'd be laughing and pushing me, poking me, maybe punching me in the face… always in front of groups other kids mind you, when in my heart all I could think of was, “if these kids only knew what I could do…”. But I never did. Because my ONLY concern was the sweet little blonde haired girl back home who looked up to me… and I was more than willing to take a punch for her. Besides, 16 year old thugs don't hit nearly as hard as a 40 year old man.So I dealt with the bullying until I was 16… that's when it all changed. The school finally stepped in, and long story short, my sister was sent to live with her father, and i went with mine.It was devastating being separated from my sister but also exhilarating, because I realized we were free. She wouldn't be exposed to any more of the chaos, and I could just be a kid.My first day in my new school, sitting on the bleachers during gym class, I noticed 3 kids walking towards me. Now, I'd been harassed enough to recognize when people were approaching you with bad intentions. So I got up and walked off the bleachers, hoping they wouldn't pursue whatever they had planned if we were closer to the bulk of the class. Unfortunately I didn't know the layout of the field yet and the way I went took me to a gated off area totally out of view of the class.{sigh}The three of them circled me, but one in particular was obviously the leader and subsequently the aggressor… they were all big kids, but the “leader” was particularly muscular and looked to be in his 20’s. They pushed me, got in my face, threatened me… but ultimately didn't attack me. But it was enough to make me FURIOUS…I went home that day in a rage. My father approached me and asked what was wrong. When I told him what happened, he sighed and he said he was afraid something like this would happen being the new kid again. But then he shocked me! He proceeded to tell me I should never have been put in the position I was in as a child, and that it was wrong what I had to do both at home AND outside my home. It really struck a chord with me because this was the first time my father ever REALLY opened up to me about life, and my life in particular. He told me things he'd wanted to tell me for a long time, but didn't know how. But the last thing he said, the thing that I remember most of ANYTHING my father ever told me was, “I don't want you fighting, but you don't EVER have to let someone do that to you again… if someone MAKES you defend yourself, you have my permission to hand him his fucking ass.”I felt a surge. A jolt of electricity shot through my body! A Rocky montage begin to play in my head…I ALMOST got bullied one more time shortly after that. Almost. By that same muscular guy from the first day of school… and it never happened again. After that first day in my new school, things settled in nicely. I was well rested and in school every morning. I was able to open up a little bit and be more outspoken, which led to me making new friends quickly for the first time. And I wasn't afraid of altercations anymore, since my shackles were off. In fact, the VERY FIRST THING I ever said to the guy that would ultimately become my best friend, and who is TO THIS DAY, 25 years later my best friend… the FIRST thing I said to him was, and I quote “I don't know who you are, or if you're considered to be some kind of tough guy around here… but if you say that one more time, I'll throw you out the fucking window.” He looked so perplexed! He WANTED to keep going, but he also didn't know if I meant it LITERALLY… so he opted not to call my bluff, and lucky thing too because at that moment, I had every intention of throwing him out that window (we were on the first floor, but it would've RUINED his image lmao). And he'd tell you today he deserved it lol…So I made friends and for the first time was experiencing how much FUN high school COULD BE… it was great not having to worry about my sister's welfare or how I'd navigate my day without crossing paths with my bullies. I also learned that the muscular kid from my first day, well, he hung out with some real bad dudes. He WAS a couple years older, was a known juice head and he sold coke. He was also known for supposedly beating the CRAP out of people who owed him money. My new friends agreed he was really bad news, that I was lucky to have survived my first encounter with him, and I'd be wise to avoid a SECOND. But they didn't know my history yet either. So one night, I was walking home with two friends from a small party. We decided to cut behind the strip mall and through the woods because taking the bike path cut a half mile from our walk. As we approached the end of the rear of the building, just between the building and the treeline, there was a huge kegger happening. I recognized a lot of the people there, but not all of them. My friends said we should turn back, some of these kids were real trouble makers, and some weren't even from our town, etc etc… but I said screw that! I wasn't walking all the way back around and then walking the half mile we we're cutting out in the first place! Besides, I was cool with the people I recognized, if not FRIENDS per se, so we'd probably be ok.We walked through, and I said hello to the kids I recognized, and some of them introduced me to some of their friends and we began talking. My two friends put their heads down and made straight for the woods, where they would remain in hiding until the end of our story…So I'm chatting with a group of people, when all of a sudden from behind me, I hear “hey asshole, you spilled my beer.” I recognized the voice just as quickly as I recognized the ploy for an excuse to start a fight. This wasn't my first rodeo. In fact, at this point I was a regular Buffalo Bill.I turned around and sure enough, it was my buddy from the first day of school, good ole' Muscles McCokehead himself… I rolled my eyes. “I didn't spill your beer…”“Yea you fuckin did” he replied, “it was sitting on the dumpster!”He gestures towards a dumpster that was a good 15′ away and surrounded by a group of people ten deep.“Bro, I'm not even over there, so obviously I didn't spill your beer. And really, you wanna start a FIGHT over a spilled beer?”“Damn right I wanna fuckin fight over a spilled beer!! And I've knocked out bigger guys than you!” (This would be a line I would hear many MANY times as I got older both working security and competing in MMA tourneys in my early 20’s. I never understood why so many people feel the need to point out they've knocked out bigger guys than the guy they're trying to start a fight with)I told him the truth. I said “Listen, you don't know me, I don't want to fight anybody, and you REALLY don't wanna do this. You obviously got a new beer” motioning to the unopened bottle of Bud light in his hand, “so let's just relax.”“Relax!?” He walked towards me and it was clear from the first step he was going to attack me. What wasn't clear was that he fights like a hockey player. He grabbed my big winter coat, pulled it over my head so my arms were stuck in the position of the “Y” from “Y.M.C.A.” and he just TEED OFF on me. He hit me with the 12 oz bottle until it exploded over my head, creating a deep gash in my scalp, at which point he dropped the glass from his hand and began to uppercut me repeatedly in my unprotected face with all of his anabolic might. This would lead to broken blood vessels in both my eyes which looked disgusting for about two months. He beat the living shit out of me for a good 45 seconds…But all those years of pent up aggression and hatred for these bullies had turned me into a 16 year old unbridled rage monster. Getting punched never really phased me.About 2 minutes after he attacked me, he was a bruised and bloodied unconscious heap, lying on his back in a cold wet Waldbaums parking lot. And this time, the crowd of people weren't watching a pushover get bullied, they were watching a bully get his mutha fuckin ass kicked. Suddenly I was the most popular kid in the world. They all wanted to meet me, shake my hand and offer me a beer. The stupid shit kids admire…My two friends finally felt safe enough to emerge from the woods. Thanks a lot for the support guys. One of them even felt comfortable enough to admit HE was the one who spilled the guys beer!! AGAIN, THANKS A LOT!!Word of that fight spread around town, and I never had to fight again. Not in my neighborhood at least. A couple of times there was almost an incident with kids I didn't know, but somebody would always whisper, “that's the kid who blah blah blah"… it's funny how stories snowball around schools. By the time I graduated but the story was I had single handedly taken down the cartel or something ridiculous like that.Ok. Now.Fast forward 20 years. I was in a band, coming off a small tour. We had started a foundation called The Music Speaks Foundation, where we put on concerts to raise awareness and donations for different children's charities, including anti-bullying and domestic violence among others. So at the end of our tour we had planned a fundraiser at a club near our home town.It was an hour or so before we went on. We were socializing with friends in the crowd, and were heading towards the outside smoking patio. Suddenly this scruffy fellow jumped out from the crowd in between me and my friends and he exclaimed “NO WAY!! HOLY SHIT, WHATS UP BRO?!” It took me a moment to realize who he was. You guessed it. Muscles McCokehead himself. I wasn't quite sure how to react. He was CLEARLY excited to see me, but I would've been fine with a polite head nod from across the room. No pleasantries need be exchanged here mate, go on, that sorta thing. But we're adults, 20 years passed, I suppose no harm in being cordial! So I shook his hand, which turned into an awfully uncomfortable bro-hug, and politely invited him outside for a smoke, which he, unfortunately, promptly accepted. We made our way out to the patio, where he immediately began gushing to my friends about what a tough kid I was at 16. He was speaking a thousand words a minute, and I honestly couldn't understand most of what he said!! The only thing that I really caught was “yo your friend, your friend is a fuckin bull bro…”That's about when I noticed his pupils were pin points even in the dim lighting of the patio, and he had clearly lost a good 30+ lbs of muscle since I'd last seen him.Suddenly he turned with a snap, threw his arm around me and said he was sorry for being such an asshole, and he deserved the beating he got, and that I was idk, some kinda super hero or something in his drug riddled memory… and it occurred to me that the two things I hated most in the world as a kid, bullies and addiction, were now standing before me, occupying the same vessel, apologizing and confessing their admiration for me for standing up to them… and in that moment I felt such pity for him, and for all those demons I'd battled all those years before. Because they were suffering too.And then he said, “Bro you party? Come on bro I know you party!” And he pushed a big ass bag of coke into my hand!!! I said dude, “wtf are you doing?!” “Just take it bro, just take it. I want you to have it!”Wtf just happened kinda moment…And that was the last I ever saw of him…The Walk of Shame:Now, nobody's perfect. God knows I'm not, so please don't judge me for this. But I got a DUI once. Yes, I know, I know… It was very stupid, drinking and driving can be very dangerous, nobody should ever take any chances! I made a bad choice and there was no Uber yet.Well as part of the punishment for my terrible decision, I had to report to probation. Well I went four times, and all four times I saw some of the kids that bullied me when I was younger. (What's THAT tell you about my old neighborhood?) They all had the same reaction. They pretended they didn't recognize me, which was fine because I'd long since moved on and I didn't want any Grand Duos apologies or gestures. But I DID keep looking at them and laughing a little bit to myself as they tried to peek up at me, see me looking, and get that oh shit-busted expression just before darting their eyes away. It was fun to watch em squirm. So I never did SPEAK to them. BUT on the fourth visit one of them, who I'd seen there before, and who was probably the worst bully I ever encountered in my youth (he was the only person that physically struck me more than once in public and laughed saying look he won't do anything!) was called into the interviewing area. A few minutes later a big burly fella wearing a law enforcement t-shirt and cuffs on his belt came from another door and met two young men who had just walked in. They were standing just a few feet from me. The law enforcement guy (idk what his title was. Luckily I haven't been in trouble enough to meet one of these dudes) handed them a cell phone and some other personal items. I could hear him saying “he'll be alright, he'll be able to call you later, this is a chance to turn things around” etc… he was REALLY compassionate and polite towards these young men.He said take care, and then he walked into the interviewing area. He returned just a few minutes later with my old bully, in cuffs, leading him by the arm, head bowed through the waiting room. As he shuffled past the young men who had collected his items, they offered words of encouragement and reassurance, but he never looked up. He never acknowledged them. Just stared at the floor. But as they shuffled past me and approached the heavy metal door that requires a key card to open, he lifted his head slightly, turning it just enough in my direction that he could look at me, and the look on his face was one I'll never forget. It was the look of a sorry, broken man. My heart went out to him. Because he WAS a man. No longer the BOY who tormented me. He was no longer the boy who I later learned had been viciously beaten and abused by his father regularly throughout highschool. And even though he was now a man, he had apparently never escaped his own demons cast upon him by his father.Bullying is terrible, and can do tremendous damage to it's victims. We need to end bullying. But we need to end bullying BY ADDRESSING why kids are BEING BULLIES. Some of these kids, MOST of these kids need help themselves! We can't hate a child for their actions before having empathy for what causes their actions.

Why do some people consider conservatives to be more violent than liberals?

I think people are confused when they say this. People should be careful when labeling right or left wing extremists as conservatives or liberals. Most conservatives aren’t extremists nor are liberals. In the context of political violence though right wing extremists are more violent. In current times statistical evidence shows that there is more violence, especially murder coming from right wing extremists. Left wing extremists tend to destroy property and cause ruckus but generally don’t resort to acts of extreme violence, unless you consider throwing milkshakes and punching someone extreme violence. Right wing extremists have killed almost as many people as jihadists in America and Europe since 9/11. I will provide more in depth information below. If you want to look it up for yourself just google search right wing terrorism and left wing terrorism and compare the info you pull up for both. In other times left wing extremists and activists were causing more problems but this changed starting in the 90s or so.As of May 2019, the New America Foundation placed the number killed in terrorist attacks in the United States since 9/11 as follows: 104 killed in jihadist terrorist attacks, 87 killed in far-right attacks, 8 killed in black separatist/nationalist/supremacistattacks, and 8 killed in ideological misogyny/"incel" ideology attacks.[67]The politically conservative Daily CallerNews Foundation using data from the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism(START), found 92% of all "ideologically motivated homicide incidents" committed in the United States from 2007 to 2016 were motivated by right-wing extremism or white supremacism.[68]According to the Government Accountability Office of the United States, 73% of violent extremist incidents that resulted in deaths since September 12, 2001 were caused by right-wing extremist groups.[69][70]A 2019 report found that in 2018, 50 people in the United States were killed in murders by domestic extremists (including both ideologically and non-ideologically motivated homicides). Of these killings, 78% were perpetrated by white supremacists, 16% by anti-government extremists, 4% by "incel" extremists, and 2% by domestic Islamist extremists.[71]Over the broader 2009 to 2018 time period, there were a total of 313 people in the United States killed by right-wing extremists (including both ideologically and non-ideologically motivated homicides), of which 76% were committed by white supremacists, 19% by antigovernment extremists (including those affiliated with th militia, "sovereign citizen," tax protester, and "Patriot" movements), 3% by "incel" extremists, 1% by anti-abortion extremists, and 1% by other right-wing extremists.[71]New America's tally shows that since September 11, 2001, 87 people have been killed in right-wing extremist attacks.
