Western media isn't a tool for satisfying and approving medicines used for cure of various diseases.Science doesn't work in that manner. For something to be satisfied as a cure, it has to undergo a series of tests to ensure its efficacy and safety before it can be used in a human body.Madagascar reported its first three cases on march 20th and a month later it reported having discovered a magic organic medicine that treats Covid19.President Andry Rajoelina testing Covid19 magic medicineLet's first do a quick recap on the stages of drugs’ trial, shall we?They pass through a series of trials that include;Pre clinical trials; where the drug is tested in computer models and humans cells grown in the laboratory.Animal trials; drugs that pass the first step are tested in animals and monitored for any signs of side effects .Human trials ; Drugs that pass the animal trials are tested on human subjects in lower doses and monitored for any signs of side effects and its efficacy.This processes take a considerable amount of time that isn't anything short to a month as Madagascar's little magic drug discovery took.It’s what pharmaceutical drugs go through before being used in human beings.For those of you who aren't aware of something about African countries, it's a home to numerous of magical drugs that claim to treat a variety of diseases that can't be treated by modern medicine.There have been claims of magical medicines that treats diabetes, HIV , epilepsy, hypertension etc. But this claims are always dismissed by local food and drug authorities since they lack any scientific backbone to be approved as therapeutic drugs for use in the human body.As a home to numerous people living under low socioeconomic status ,high illiteracy levels and having governments with low budgets to fund researches into the pharmaceutical industry—there are clear gaps to lure people into believing magic things in times of tragedy, physical sufferings or any social dilemma.It's a simple math you can do on a napkin. For instance, according to the WHO, in the year 2016 Madagascar had more than 2500 AIDS related deaths and there haven't been any magical drug announced by the government but for a disease with no vaccine or cure so far announced by the scientists, the government of Madagascar has found a magical medicine to treat its Covid19 cases.It's one of those Africa's fairy tales. No one should pay attention to.I will be surprised if the WHO doesn't put a hold to this.In 2010 , something of that calibre happened in Tanzania. There was a man who worked as a bishop of a certain church, he announced to be in possession of certain traditional medicine that cures all the diseases. ( read that again).People all over the country with a population of more than 50M people by then , with different health conditions trekked to a small village in the North to receive this magical drug.Filling of cups with the magical medicine that treats all the diseases.A long car queue heading for the magical drug that treats all the diseases (read that again).The price for a single cup dose was only 500Tsh ( 0.22$) and tens of thousands of people flocked into that village hoping to be cured from serious health conditions.There were reports that some of the patients who were undergoing treatments in various hospitals across the country, terminated their hospital treatment just to go for the magical cup.Few months later, he dissapeared and no one has ever known of his whereabouts , not even his patients who some Perhaps needed a second cup of dose.The African Union has recently issued a call on Madagascar's government to provide technical data for its drug discovery.On the other hand, experts of African traditional medicine also pledged for clinical trials to be done.The media engineered all that bullshit and attracted people's attention. It is something that the western media perhaps doesn't want to do and feed people's mind with some fake , unverified and stupid informations about a drug that no one knows its mechanism of action.For instance, herbs have been an ancient African choice for cure of many diseases.While not trying to down play their importance , it is safe not to deny African people drugs that have passed clinical trials for their safety and efficacy.African leaders need to back off from these ‘western' countries notion that is consuming our self esteem, that our initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry are being boycotted.While in most regions, more than 98% of their national medical demands have been luxuriously dependant on foreign pharmaceutical products.African governments are reluctant on spending an adequate amount of their national budget, on medical researches.UPDATE;I wrote this some few months ago and it just did happen. The government of Madagascar under their self proclaimed Covid ‘hero' once taunted to have a magic cure for covid19, and even dragged some of their neighbouring nations to believe in their bizzare traditional drug that lacked scientific proof.With more than 10,000 comfirmed cases and 99 deaths, Madagascar is now on it's knees calling for help from outside.This is one of those many areas where i always remind African folks that, our forefathers did a great jobs of discovery of some trees and plants that are capable of curing diseases, but its our job as the current generation to spearhead their discovery to a whole new level. Not these tincture solution of a couple tree slices , mix them with water , bottle it and taunt it with some supposed big brand name as a cure for covid 19. Just like that. Not with Covid19.

Ignoring the fact that they are not native to Madagascar, elephants are NOT serene, neither in Thailand nor anywhere else. Elephants are highly complex, intelligent, social creatures who exhibit a wide range of emotions and behaviors just like we humans do, such as love, pain, empathy, sadness, fear, frustration, excitement, joy, anger, annoyance, confusion, etc. We only see the “serene" side of elephants because it is the only side we don't deny them of their naturally rich inner and outer lives.Do not listen to any BS about how the Thai people give “cute, docile, intelligent elephants” the respect of a God and this is somehow part of the magic behind their perceived serenity. It is one of the biggest hypocrisies of modern Thai culture that the elephant occupies some revered space within their society. This applies to other Hindu-influenced cultures that make up the Indosphere as well where the elephant is native. In theory, yes, the elephant is the embodiment of a God. In practice, the elephant is a tool exploited for trade and revenue and by and large endures unimaginable abuse in South and Southeast Asia as a result, including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, India, and Sri Lanka. Elephants are one of only three mammal groups, including cetaceans and primates, known to be able to recognize themselves in the mirror. They have a mind, a sense of self, a sense of their own existence, and unfortunately a sense of their own suffering at our hands.Ostensibly serene elephants are raised in captivity and now submit to the presence of humans. They very often have been “trained” in one of several brutal processes designed to “domesticate" them. One of the worst is a process known as phajaan, which literally means “to crush." There is a reason why bullhooks and chains are kept at the ready in Thailand and elsewhere in Asia by people whose job is to subdue these unfortunate beasts who have been robbed of their natural environment and behaviors. Remember this when you engage in popular elephant tourism. He has no belly and his hind quarters are visibly emaciated. Elephants are forcibly bred in order to produce more captive babies and elephants to feed the various tourist traps and trades.An elephant is brutally, viciously, and repeatedly beaten in India for what seems to be no reason at all. Moreover, there is no reason that could possibly justify it. Note that the Indian and the Thai elephant are the same species. Also note the nearby raft of oblivious individuals floating by indifferently in the background as the elephant is relentlessly battered.
