PDF Editor FAQ

Does free electricity and water provided by the Kejriwal government affect the economy of India?

The short answer is No.The long answer is that it has no adverse effect on Delhi or the rest of the country. The reason is that the Delhi government is financially well-managed, as reported by an independent, competent authority."According to the CAG report, the fiscal deficit figure for Delhi, which was around Rs 3,942 crore in 2013-14, became a fiscal surplus of Rs 113 crore as of 2017-18. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government took charge in early 2015."In short, the money is there for the subsidies. How Fiscally Profligate is Delhi's AAP Government Really? No doubt that the money is coming from the taxes paid by the better-off people. Same for Union government subsidies, such as LPG, NAREGA, etc. Other States provide free electricity to farmers. That alone does not make it right. But, if the government is financially sound, it has the right to spend its tax money as it wants in an open transparent way.In the Delhi budget, the highest share is for education. Delhi budget 2019-20: Highest share of 26% allocated to education sector And, Delhi schools have improved. One major reason for AAP to win.Delhi is so small that what happens there has no effect on the country’s economy.******************************Core EconomicsI am planning to write an Amazon ebook called Core Economics -it's economics for non-economists, written in plain, jargon free language. Does AAP buy votes like other political parties?

AAP is headed by a very cunning, highly educated person! While other parties give freebies and cash for votes, this man has right royally purchased votes! What he has done is, he has announced so many populist schemes like free electricity, free water, free Metro ride for girls, etc. People are sold to him, instead of the conventional purchase!Nobody, literally nobody has asked this person who the hell is making good all the losses on account of these appeasement tricks! It's the ever gullible tax payer at whose cost, this wily fox is making merry! But then, who bothers? As long as people get their share of the goodies, they follow him, hail him as the best ever!Sharing a brilliant message:Jai Hind!

What is your view on electricity up to 200 units being made free in Delhi by the Arvind Kejriwal government?

Remember the times when we would pay far less than the rest of the world for fuel & even in that way way less for diesel and our cooking gas cylinders were super subsidized? We were lulled into believing that our governments were taking care of us while slowly our coffers found themselves depleting. Something has to give before something can take.It might be too late before we recognize that.Nothing in the world is free & if someone is getting it for free, someone else is paying for it or someone shall pay for it at some point in time by which time it would be too late to take away the freebie - people get used to taking without paying like they're entitled to it.Ultimate socialism is where Kejriwal is headed. He and his ministers are explaining on various forums that this is like the donation we do when we have everything we could ask for. This is like the child we offer to educate because we are thankful to the Almighty for giving us enough. But, do we really have enough, Mr. CM?Are we really so good to go that we can totally afford to cut off chunks from Delhi's pie for whatever sop suits your fancy?Free metro rides for ladies announced. Check.Free water already done & dusted. CheckFree electricity. Almost check. But where is the Delhi you promised?I would rather that these funds were used to make Delhi more livable. I would rather see better infrastructure, better connectivity, more planning, a cleaner Delhi, workers not striking because the government says it has no funds whereas there is an akshaya patra (vessel of unending wealth) from where the CM dips his hand in to pull out sop after sop like some P.C. Sorcar pulling rabbits out a hat.A young girl in the prime of her life has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer all because the air is so toxic that babies struggle to breathe.I would rather that Kejriwal spent those funds cleaning up our air, making our commute smoother, sorting out the garbage crisis. If Indore can sort out it's garbage woes, surely Delhi can, too & that is what I want Kejriwal to spend the surplus money in. How is it that there is no money for buses but there's plenty to give away?!There's plenty yet to be done before Kejriwal's charity for Delhi happens. In any case, the money is not his to dispense as he pleases.Let Delhi be a world class city & if conditions improve, every citizen will be happy enough to vote otherwise these gimmicks roll off like water off a duck's back. Not impressed.Edit:Commenters are accusing me of leaning right and posturing as left.I speak what I see to be the right point for an issue. Freebies never are a good idea in the long run - and no, I'm not for one moment batting for an idiot bhojpuri actor to be our CM.AAP has done good work in the education sector and electricity but that does not mean I endorse their giving away free sops.Yes, thankfully they are not depleting the coffers with some statue but that does not mean a society of Entitlement is created.Free lunches there are not.@Abhay Pande Venky Rathod @
