Because when taxes were higher, the country was stronger. This is a bit complicated so I don’t want to oversimplify.Long ago, we had high marginal tax rates. What this means is that if you earned very little, you paid very little in taxes. If you earned a reasonable income, you paid a reasonable tax rate. But if you earned an unreasonably high income, we pushed you to do things with that income that grew the economy.So if your business made a profit of $10 million last year and you added those 10 million on top of your ‘director salary’ (which was already 500 thousand), the tax rate on those $10 millions is let’s say 70%. So now you have a choice: give $7 million to the government and let them use it to help the country, or you can re-invest that back in your business and avoid the taxes. So businesses did what they could to avoid the high tax rates. They donated to charity. They built additions to their buildings. They purchased new equipment. They hired more people. They gave people raises and benefits. All of these things worked to grow the economy and help the country. So the moral of that story is don’t believe the Republican talking point that lowering taxes frees up money for businesses to expand or hire more people, because expanding your business and hiring more people actually enabled you to avoid the taxes.So Reagan came in and pushed the fairy tale of “trickle down economics”: if we give businesses tax breaks, they’ll re-invest that money in their businesses. So we have to start spending more tax money on welfare and unemployment, and we have budget deficits. So Republicans say “we need to boost the economy! Let’s create even bigger deficits by giving more money to the billionaires!” and the dollar value keeps dropping and the wealthy pull more and more money out of the economy while the poverty rate rises.So now, why do Democrats want high tax rates? First, the influx of dollars from the store rooms of the wealthy will help reduce our deficits. Second, it encourages the wealthy to invest that money back in the economy. Third it enables the government to invest more in programs that grow the economy by adding dollars into the system. So then what happens? People who couldn’t afford food, clothing, healthcare, and housing before spend money (even if it’s welfare money) on food, clothing, healthcare, and housing. So retail sales go up and home ownership goes up. As retail sales go up, new jobs are created and corporate profits rise. As new jobs are created, unemployment goes down, and competition for workers increases. As competition for workers increases, wages and benefits go up. As wages and benefits go up, home ownership goes up again. As home ownership goes up, property values go up. As property values go up, municipalities generate more in tax revenue and investments grow in value. As tax revenue goes up, more money is spent on infrastructure and schools. As more money is spent on infrastructure, new jobs are created. As more money is spent on schools, the workforce improves and innovation rises. As investments grow, wages grow, and corporate profits grow, tax revenue grows. As the economy grows, the need for government spending on welfare slows, and as tax revenue grows and government spending decreases, the deficit decreases.This is why every Democratic administration of late has lower deficits and lower unemployment, and every Republican administration has higher deficits and higher unemployment. Yes right now Trump has benefitted from continually lowering unemployment, but it isn’t shrinking at the rate it was during the Obama administration, before Trump’s tax bill discouraged creating new jobs. Meanwhile, he has more than doubled the deficit and our debt continues to set records. It’s just a matter of time before the unemployment rate completely levels off and starts to climb. The Fed has already lowered interest rates for the first time since Bush was in office to counter the economic slowdown, and Trump himself complained that they didn’t do more, because even he knows the economy is on the verge of a recession.So to answer your question, Democrats favor high marginal tax rates because they understand how the economy works and have seen how different tax policies have affected the economy over the last century.

Only 6 members from the BJP voted against the motion.His work profile:Suspension Of Officials: Mundhe has suspended at least ten NMMC officials for dereliction of duty since he took charge of NMMC in May 2016. But then, that is a movie and this is real life where a man doing his duties efficiently, honestly for the welfare of public is being punished at the hands of politicians. This might not be the only instance where an upright and honest Officer is not allowed to do his duties by the politicians. There can be several such “Mundhes” out there who are not allowed to perform their duties, and have to bow down before the arrogant and tainted class of politicians. We elect the politicians, the Corporators, the MLA’s, MP’s hoping that they will give us better roads, better infrastructure and the city to be free from encroachments with clean and the healthy environment. It is about time that this kind of political approach must be boycotted by the common people of the country. Officers like him must be allowed to perform their duties without any political intervention. These kind of incidences will act as deterrent for future civil service aspirants, for those who are planning to join civil service in near future.
