Can marijuana help people with Interstitial Cystitis?

INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS AND CANNABINOIDSCopyright July 2016 by Laurence E. Badgley, M.D.Studies of a rodent model of the Interstitial Cystitis (IC) disorder demonstrated the efficacy of exogenous cannabinoids to ameliorate bladder pain and urinary frequency. CB2 receptors were implicated. This is not surprising. My clinical medical research indicates that pelvic girdle joint instability is highly associated with IC. The pre-sacral neural plexus directly overlies the ventral aspect of the sacroiliac joint. Pre-sacral neural plexus stimulation of parasympathetic tracts to the bladder is probably implicated. CB2 receptors within the parasympathetic tract are probably where the exogenous cannabinoids work. These physiological dynamics suggest that Sativas might be more efficacious than Indicas. Standard medical therapy for IC includes DMSO bladder flushes. What about a Sativa extract/DMSO bladder flush? As a Work Compensation physician, I encountered numerous pelvic girdle joint (sacroiliac) injuries, and several underwent joint fusion and stabilization. Amongst two women, who had IC-like symptoms, their symptoms remitted after sacroiliac joint fusion and stabilization.Laurence E. Badgley, M.D.Berkeley, CAJune 2016

Is interstitial cystitis common with RSD/CRPS?

Apparently it is, or it is common enough for this study to have been done. http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.412.5123&rep=rep1&type=pdf Good luck with the terminology. Their statistical methods are sound, however.

Are "off-label" medicines reviewed or studied by the FDA?

Approved medicines are approved. The medicines are not off label. It is the specific indication which is not FDA approved that is considered an off label indication. All medicines which are available by prescription have been vetted and approved by the FDA for their indicated conditions. For example, the tricyclic antidepressant amitriptyline received FDA approval for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Prescribing it for that indication is on label. It has been shown to be effective for migraine prevention, irritable bowel syndrome, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia pains, neuropathic pain, post herpetic neuralgia, and so on. Those are all off label indications.

This tool has been super helpful. I haven't found another compression tool that works as well as this one. I use this tool often, and would not use anything else.
