At this point it is not possible to transplant a fetus or baby from one location to another. Recent advances in the development of the artificial womb may some day make it possible to continue gestation somewhere other than the mother’s body. Artificial womb for baby lamb raises hope for premature babies (And, perhaps, with the recent successes of uterus transplants, even males may be able to gestate their child. Uterus transplants could let men get pregnant — but there's a catch) Currently, the fetal lamb that was transplanted to the artificial womb was alot further along comparative to the gestational stage whenthe fallopian tube bursts in a woman with a tubal pregnancy, usually in the first trimester. Meaning , that at that stage the fetus is so tiny — the microsurgery that would be necessary to connect its umbilical cord to an artificial placenta is far beyond the reach of current technology. The mother will likely die too, without emergency intervention. In the picture below, which really isn’t too gory, I hope, shows a fetus that has been surgically removed and is still in its amniotic sac. Notice the tiny placenta placed along side the sac. The damaged ovary is shown next to the fetus. The age of the fetus shown is six weeks after conception or when the mother would have been eight weeks pregnant. Although tiny, it did tremendous damage to the fallopian tube!There have been a few very rare cases of ectopic pregnancies resulting in live births AND live mothers. (Ectopic pregnancies include the fetus growing anywhere besides the womb, usually in the fallopian tubes but sometimes in the abdominal cavity.) I think it’s great if you live in the Oklahoma City area and its suburbs like I do. My husband and I have amazing Doctors and hospitals for our care. We have OU Medical Center(a #1 rated trauma center)St. Anthony’s(SSM Health St Anthony’s) Baptist Integris, Mercy Health System and Heart Hospital South and North. They’re all high quality hospitals. Lots of these hospitals have smaller satellite hospitals in rural areas of Oklahoma which I think is great. As a Senior citizen now I feel grateful for having exceptional health care available to me.
