PDF Editor FAQ

What is the most ridiculous thing that you have ever convinced someone to believe?

In the 80s when the televangelists had their heyday (well, the beginning of their heyday) me and a friend of mine decided we'd get in on the action and start our own "church." I think we were in 10th grade. Now televangelists have ALWAYS been some of the lowest of the low with their third rate grifts, second rate gimmicks and first rate scams and we got that immediately (how could you not?) but still we we were young and didn't know how to channel our outrage at Reagan's America other than by mockery and satire. (To our credit we did less than a year later get involved in the "No Contra Aid" and other "anti-Central American wars" campaigns and turned our youthful energy and idealism in that direction.)Anyway, this was before the age of the internet so we were working with envelopes, "borrowing" copying machines and using phone books for addresses of as many unsuspecting citizens as we could scrounge up stamps for.We posed as evangelists (no "tele" in our case as we were just 15) advertising, marketing, pushing and using the corporate PR tricks which had so recently been turned in the direction of society's immortal soul (and bank account.)Our "church" was named the "Church of the United National Trust." It worked on social and religious issues with the Moral Majority and the Young Republicans as well as with it's brother congregation the "Friends United for Christ's Kingdom."(The latter had a bit of a disagreement with "Proud Republicans Incorporated in Christ's Kingdom" over the name. I hear it's still winding its way through the courts.)We had flyers and advertised events like a Republican fundraiser for the popular 80s campaign against "Vulgarity and Gratuitousness in Network Advertising" where the "Friend's United for Christ's Kingdom" and the more secular "Organization of Fraternal Fellowship" would rally followed by Christian rock band "Soul of Dominion Master of Yearning."A follow up newsletter explained that "Friend's United for Christ's Kingdom" and "Organization of Fraternal Fellowship" merged that night to form "Friend's United for Christ's Kingdom-Organization of Fraternal Fellowship." There was also a bit of a scandal when at the "Soul of Dominion Master of Yearning" concert several members were arrested for undisclosed violations.Keep in mind this is when the mania for acronyms was just escaping the military and entering corporate America in full force. It wasn't just ACME anymore. That was pretty safe to say after our gambit. There were not a few "you should be ashamed of yourselves" letters in reply but I remember us pulling in a pretty fair amount in donations. It's not clear whether they were appreciating our not very clear effort to mock all things "blue synthetic-fiber suit with red power tie" or they believed in our most noble causes. I suspect the latter...Edit:This got to the point where people at our high school would say "I'd like to know more about FUCK." Or VaGiNA. Or "When are SoDoMY going to play here, their guitar player's great." It was all very juvenile...

Is NIT Trichy CSE good?

Man,Is Shah Rukh Khan a good actor? Is M.S Dhoni the best captain ever?Is Sachin Tendulkar the best?Is Michael Jordan a good basketball player? Is Cristiano Ronaldo a good football player? Was Beethoven a good musician? Was Dr. Kalam a good Scientist? Is NIT Trichy CSE good? Its damn good my friend. It ranks way above many IITs in many aspects. The professors and the research facility provided over there it at par with any institute in the country. The placements are great with some of the best companies across the world coming in for recruitment. You have extra curricular activities as well such as Vortex. You also have the newsletter of their department which you can get from their website and get an insight to what they have been up to. It is a wonderful college and CSE department anywhere has an edge over the others provided you are willing to put an effort. If you want to pursue CSE as your Engineering Major then NIT Trichy is one of the best Institutes in the nation.I though do not trust NIRF Rankings as much because of their bizarre ranking methodology but NIT Trichy ranks 11 there and I can assure you its much better than that.
