My coming together with negativity, negative thinking trauma.Small story :I was a sincere student but was never ever fond of studying. Taking classes and tests was like a punishment for me. I am a former DPS RK Puram student a school situated in Delhi. A school which is considered to be the best of the country by many with all due respect to other prominent schools.How I moved towards negativity :I performed decently well in my Class X exams and got around a 90% aggregate. Then came my XI class. I did absolutely nothing. I never knew what was coming. I totally gave up studying in Class XI. That too after taking Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as my subjects. Life became boring and miserable. I got only 7.5 marks in my Class XI Physics paper. I was totally broken. Then fast forward 10 months from then I was sitting for my Class XII pre-boards and had nothing prepared. It was a soul crushing experience. Specially for someone who had been a good student throughout. The end result was that my XII result was absolutely disastrous. I couldn't salvage it in the end and things went out of hand. I had lost touch and all my concepts of thermodynamics, laws of motion, gravitation, waves, oscillation etc everything was nothing but painful in my final days before my Class XII boards.This thing was the same for Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. That time I still remember I was staring at failure! absolute disaster nothing more nothing less. Then came my result. People were having high expectations of a former scholar. A person who scored a decent percentage in X eventually I did manage to pass but that was it.The beginning of the biggest tragedy of my life :So after my result I met my friends. So called friends. Some of them were my juniors. They asked me about my marks. They had high hopes as I have already told you. I bluntly said that ok I have got 85% in aggregate. This I said to save my face only nothing else. You won’t believe what followed next. Some how one of them got to know about my real marks.Absolute disaster and the shame followed with his phone call. He called me up and asked me : “ So Shivam how many marks have you got ? ”, he continued and told me that he knew everything.I was lost for words. Ashamed. Broken.That day was around 11 years ago. I still remember those words. I felt as if the entire universe was falling apart. The reason for the same is simple and that is that for some people respect is everything. My case was something similar.My journey with negativity, despair, suffering began. It was like a never ending journey for me. A little later that guy appeared for his Class XII board exams. He scored a meager 37 marks in Mathematics. These marks were less than mine but trust me I did not feel elated. I felt sad for him. I did not talk to him. Never really tried to mock or ridicule him in any way what so ever.Then one day he met me in the colony. I congratulated him for clearing his XII boards and wished him well for his coming life, even after all this my suffering continued. The reason was that I was unable to show the world at large what I was all about.I did not get marks in Class XII only because of my indifference and lack of interest but my lie made it show as if I was an escapist.Then I dropped a year in vain. I couldn't do anything. Failed to clear IIT, AIEEE that again was because of no interest and lack of studying. My year after a drop year was about to be wasted but some how I managed a seat in a Bachelors of Journalism degree.How did I stop negative thinking and totally shattered all my demons ?Then during my course of study in journalism I realized what all have I missed due to not studying properly. A scholar of DPS RK Puram. A good student was totally dethroned and robbed of his deserved place.This feeling of despair, guilt and shame which started ever since my Class XII result continued to haunt me. More so when I was unable to secure a seat in Delhi University even after being provided with all resources and facilities.That was the time that I decided that enough is enough. I will have to return. Then my journey back to the top started. I joined the School of Open Learning from DU as regular colleges were not possible due to my low class XII percentage.I joined a degree course named Bachelors of Arts in Political Science (Hons). Topped the entire Delhi University just to give you a hint I secured 45 marks out of 50 in English during my first year in other subjects like political theory and thought I scored more than 75 marks out of 100. Then I went to the School of Open Learning admissions department and obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) this is required to migrate from SOL to other colleges. Took it and went to each and every college to investigate and you won’t believe me I was allowed to migrate in almost all of them. I was having the chance to join colleges like Kirori Mal & Hindu among other top colleges of Delhi University. I had achieved something which was a distant dream.As I was good in journalism and was about to finish with my degree I took a calm decision not to waste a year. I secured 77.21% aggregate in my media studies graduation.I got the chance to work for media houses like India Today, NDTV and Dainik Jagran. I was also having a decent salary throughout my journalism journey. I even completed my Post graduation in media studies this time I secured the third rank in my University.Then came the final twist of the story. I was not satisfied till now. As that feeling of making it back to where I belong was still unfulfilled. I decided and left my job. Then I appeared and topped the DU Law Entrance Exam. Today I am a bona-fide student of Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University Of Delhi. You can see my name in the list of toppers somewhere. This law school is considered by many to be the best law school in the country.I killed it. That is how I overcome negativity. I literally kill it and yes I have to say I am still not satisfied. This is a never ending battle. I will return again. Negativity will fall again. I will rise again.The moral of the story :Please don’t lie unnecessarily I did it due to my immaturity. Learnt my lessons the hard way. Please remember honesty is the only thing which stands alone.My final submission :I have another story about UPSC and SSC CGL. I will write about it again. Please remember nothing can overcome you. You are the infinite. Stop negative thinking. Kill it the way you want. It’s time to rise again.Thank you.
