Former drill sergeant here.I have witnessed people pass out in basic training a lot. Here’s what normally happens. It is a warm day. It is mostly near the beginning of the cycle. Trainees are in formation, or moving to or from formation. All of a sudden we are all the privates echoing the phrase “Man down “.In my unit this was so common that we had to create a battle drill for it. This is how that battle drill would begin.Once a drill sergeant finds out that there is a man down, they move to the trainee as quickly as possible. Meanwhile battle buddy teams have already retrieved the arm immersion cooler and ice sheets.If the trainee has already come to and they feel the need to dunk their arms They are allowed to do so without the drill sergeants being there. It is a heat mitigation tactic and not an emergency response.When we arrive, we will evaluate the situation to see if this is a heat related drop. If it is, we may decide to ice sheet the trainee or do something different. If we Ice sheet them we will call 911.Truth be told, we will probably call 911 anyways just to be safe.That is pretty much how they go. It happens all the time. In my three years as a drill sergeant we did not ever have a single heat injury. There have been units in our brigade who have had extreme amounts of heat related injuries. There was one company that, through gross negligence and terrible planning, had 70 heat injuries in one training event. That resulted in several people being relieved and significant changes to the heat mitigation planning process on the installation.Why do I focus this answer on the idea of heat related injuries? Well, in basic training that is where most of the passing out comes from. The reason why you get so many heat related injuries without actually being a heat injury, as we experience in my unit, is because dehydration is not a heat injury. This is what the diagnosis has been for almost every single person who has passed out in my unit.We tell them to drink water all the time. They have opportunities to fill up the water sources almost constantly. They are given these supplemental bars every night to consume to help replenish nutrients and electrolytes in their body. They are encouraged to do things like salt their food, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and drink electrolyte beverages during all three meal times.Now if it is not due to dehydration and they are diagnosed with something called syncope, they are evaluated for possible separation.

Honestly, they do try. Someone said in a Vlive (I forgot who it was. I think it was either Taehyun or Soobin) said that it’s not like they don’t. He actually made the song during his pre-debut days, when training got too tough for him. Beomgyu can play the guitar, and he’s good at it.Yeonjun also wrote the rap for Fairy of Shampoo, which is the part he rapped in the actual song.UPDATE: Hueningkai also participated in the composing and songwriting of Roller Coaster, a B-side in The Dream Chapter: Magic. It's no secret to MOAs that he can play the piano, and that his father is also a musician, hence his musical talents.Also, TXT as a whole all produced and wrote Sweat, a hidden track of The Dream Chapter: Eternity. It's not available on Spotify, but you can find it on Weverse.Thanks, Amina (she notified me in the comments) (also, it's Hueningkai's birthday ahhhhh)If you didn’t know, Yeonjun was known as Big Hit’s Legendary Trainee because of how he ranked first for singing, rap, and dance in his monthly evaluations. During that time, he would write his own raps for the evaluations.Why they don’t write a lot of their songs, though, is because Big Hit is filled with legendary producers. Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, ADORA… the list goes on. TXT is still new to the songwriting world, hence why they don’t write too much and frequently get rejected.BUT Taehyun did say in his recent Vlive that he has submitted lyrics to the management for their next song. So don’t fret, because there’s more songwriting TXT to come :)Update: Taehyun, Yeonjun and Hueningkai participated in writing Wishlist and Taehyun and Soobin helped with Ghosting in their new album, minisode1: Blue Hour! Apparently Taehyun's lyrics got followed through after all, and they were amazing as expected!

It’s neither. All of this is up to the company. The trainees get evaluated regularly and their progress is tracked. When the company is ready to form a group, they start to narrow down their pool of potential trainees and they really start to focus in on what role each of the potential trainees can play in the group. As their training continues the roles may switch around and trainees may be added or dropped from the line up. If you want the main vocal spot for example, you better work damn hard to prove you’re capable of it, otherwise it may just be assigned to your potential teammate. So it’s very well possible that several members of the same group were at one point up against each other for the same position. In the end, once the line up is finalized with who the members of the group are, the company solidifies each role. But just because they’re assigned these roles, doesn’t mean no one else in the group can’t handle that role. This is why, when like the main rapper or main vocalist is unable to perform a show, someone else in the group often can easily fill in. Or why more then one member could easily fit the visual role. Of course, every company does it a little differently, some may take the trainee’s suggestion in to consideration, some don’t. But the company ultimately has final say on who’s what. The only time trainees or idols got to choose or vote who took on what role is on survival shows like Produce101 where it’s only a one time performance stage.Here’s a video from Grazy Grace.
