Company I worked for in the early 2000s developed a fix for a common problem with a popular industrial machine. Word got out in the industry, and we got called out to a lot of places to look at their machine(s) & quote them on the fix.I get asked to “come look at a job” at a company in that particular industry, and assumed it was another machine quote. I was given a company name & address, as well as the contact person & phone number. When I arrived, I noted the signs for a different business on the front of the building. I called, and he assured me it was the right place.Turns out they were the sister company to a larger one that I detested for unfair practices towards their staff (and some unproven, immoral tactics in the marketplace). I had first hand experience working with some of their former employees who all had the same sad tales of bonus payments being kept for silly reasons, and funny stuff going on with pay rates vs contracted rates.I figure it’s all good - we’ll still upgrade their machines, but they won’t get any discounts.
