How do I learn STM32 and ARM more systematically?

Hi,If you start off with STM32 and ARM right away with little knowledge on peripherals like ADC, SPI, I2C, you may have a tough time making sense of Register settings and underlying architecture. So a systematic approach would be a Top down approach.Run an example ADC Code for STM32 Microcontroller and play around changing the parameters like PRESCALAR, SAMPLE FREQ, etc. After you have played enough with the code, strip it down. Open the header files and see the register values that are being set in those function calls.Download Datasheet, User Guides and Application Notes of the device (ARM microcontroller) you are using.Search for ADC section in User Guide / Application notes and understand the overall concepts like how to initialize the peripheral, how to trigger and how to read results from registers, etc.Refer Datasheet to get more idea on Registers related to ADC and what their bit values signify. Now try to write your own function to initialize the ADC module by setting right bit values in the relevant register.Do the above steps for all the peripherals of your interest. Now that you have experimented quite sufficiently with the code and registers and if you are able to successfully implement simple embedded applications, you are qualified enough to call yourself as a Hobby Embedded enthusiast. Then proceed reading about Computer Architecture, ARM cortex Microcontrollers' Architecture and its Instruction Set Architecture. Get a strong grip in this subject. Start programming in assembly language. To become a device driver or firmware programmer, you need to know more about the underlying architecture and important topics like inline assembly programming, Interrupt Vector table, Memory Management, RTOS concepts, etc.All the best!

Is there any book on computer architecture especially for kernel developers?

There are plenty of books on general microprocessor architecture; some are very general, others may concentrate on a specific family such as Computer Organization and Design MIPS Edition, Fifth Edition: The Hardware/Software Interface (2013), by by David A. Patterson and John L. Hennessy which discusses various architectures (including ARM Cortex and Intel Core i7), but deals mainly with the MIPS architecture used by the Microchip’s PIC32 family of microcontrollers. However for anyone actually planning on writing kernel-level code for these processors, these books are going to be too general; one actually has to dig through the datasheets for the specific devices one is going to target. For example, I am currently writing device drivers for an ARM Cortex-M7 processor called the SAMV71; the “datasheet” is almost 2000 pages long.Same for a MIPS processor I was using a while back called the PIC32MZ2064DA; its datasheet is smaller (822 pages) but it only covers the highlights; for more details on each section, including sample code, one is referred to one of the 62 PDF’s making up of the PIC32 Family Reference Manual. So potentially several thousand more pages of reading material to look over.
