How much is annual preschool tuition in San Francisco?

Winnie maintains a very comprehensive database of all the daycares and preschools in San Francisco. Based on the data we collected in 2017, the median monthly tuition is $1,700 for in-home programs ($20,400 annually) and $1,588 for center-based programs ($19,056 annually). Some things that are commonly added to this amount would be:Extended care and summer programs. Some schools end their day at 3pm, and working parents who need care until 5 or 6pm will have to pay extra. Likewise, schools that only run in the school year will charge extra for summer programs (if they even have them at all). Here’s a handy list of the preschools in San Francisco that run year-round and have 8+ hour/day programs.Schools with parent participation requirements will charge extra fees if you cannot complete some number of mandatory volunteer hours.Enrichment programs such as gymnastics, music lessons and martial arts are almost always extra.Application fees ranging from $30–$100.Registration fees required to secure a spot (but this is usually applied towards tuition).Meal & snack fees (or provide your own).Back-up child care for spring break, holidays, and teacher training days. If your school has a lot of scheduled time off this can really add up.Mandatory fundraising, usually in the ballpark of $200 per semester. Schools will often waive this based on need. While in-home schools may have more expensive tuition (due to their much smaller capacities and lower student:teacher ratios), they often have longer hours, fewer holidays, and tuition is more likely to include meals and snacks.

Do most students at the University of Denver participate in "interterm" courses?

From my personal experience, a sizable minority of students take interterms, but nowhere near a majority. I would guesstimate 20-30% of graduates have taken one at some point during their student tenure, and probably around 5% of the yearly student body (since most students take only one, rather than participating every year).Like everyone else posting on this page, however, I highly recommend them. I took an interterm trip to Azerbaijan during my Freshman year, and it was one of the greatest of my college experiences. One of my abiding regrets is that I never managed to go on the Dharamsala trip; I was always just too harried during spring break to make the registration deadline.

How will the misalignment of SXSW and UT Austin's spring break affect the overall SXSW event?

I’ve been attending SXSW for five years and the first thing that came to my mind is volunteers. There are a lot of things that volunteers do before the actual festival and my guess is UT students will be looking hard at those opportunities but the 10 day festival has relied heavily on volunteers who already have housing in the area. That sill feel the pinch. Let me explain why.South by Southwest (SXSW) is a major conference covering a number of properties in the mile or two. Dozens of things happen simultaneously and credentials are needed for access. In a venue like the convention center, you have dozens of volunteers needed to scan credentials — a system immediately connects the physical tag an individual wears to the databases to make it really hard to share credentials. They are needed from early morning til evening. That same thing happens across dozens of venues. So I am guessing at any point there are a few hundred people just doing that. Then there are volunteers in all the other areas. Helping in steady ready rooms, escorting VIPs, handling registration, providing information services, etc. Volunteers are a constant at the event.Students are a perfect fit because they either want the experience with entertainment for their resumes or want a badge so they can enjoy concerts, movies, etc. They also typically get the crowd, the technology, the neighborhood, have lots of energy, etc.I get UT digging in. I also understand the SXSW had the bookings years in advance going on the same guideline. I doubt either will change which will leave the issue to be settled by faculty and students. So my guess is SXSW will be working hard to fill the gap. Reaching out to a variety of sources to see how to get the number of volunteers they need, maybe encouraging more members of the Austin general public to join.As for the university, I wonder how many programs will work to have mid-semester projects due early in order to let students participate. For a music, arts, film, interactive program, I would bet some students and faculty will work it out.On a totally different note, one I think would be interesting to consider is there have always been a large number of students who came without volunteering because it is their spring break and there are so many activations with free drinks, etc. So you have to wonder whether there will be reductions in this contingent of folks who don’t register for the event. Interesting to think about how this would impact some of the unofficial events tied to SXSW.
