Jawaharlal Nehru.Just to reiterate - a hugely successful Prime Minister whose economic reforms led the country to long term economic prosperity was not allowed a funeral in the the capital, while Sanjay Gandhi was laid to rest right next to Pt. Nehru. Sanjay Gandhi has never held any worthwhile constitutional post and his only identity is being a member of Gandhi family.If that’s how people have seen respectability being defined within Congress then no wonder they would find appreciating someone outside the party as extremely shocking.Many other members in Congress have had similar experiences.In 1994, Mr. Vajpayee was the leader of opposition, but led a highly successful diplomatic delegation to UN where they successfully thwarted Pakistan’s aggressive attempt to internationalize Kashmir issue with the help of OIC.
