Non-Jews come to our shul in Somerville, Mass. regularly. Some are the spouses of Jews, some are the family friends of people celebrating bar or bat mitzvah, and some, like you, are just interested. Not every synagogue is equally welcoming, however, and as Steven Klein mentioned, traditional services require a fair amount of knowledge to follow. I'd recommend talking to someone who attends that congregation and scoping it out ahead of time, and maybe coming first to a learners' service or other user-friendly event if they offer one.

Ahem, I visited Ethiopia for a friend's wedding in November 2014, but due to major miscommunication (on my part) I didn't manage to attend.What I did do though, was have a lovely weekend with warm, lovely people, eating some tasty local food and drinking surprisingly good St Georges beer.Sadly, I didn't have much opportunity to travel outside of Addis Adaba or my hotel, but I found it a wonderfully friendly city to visit.BTW the wedding I missed looked simply sensational - traditional, beautiful, spiritual, elaborate and a several days long festival of fun, happiness and hope. Still, I enjoyed my beers, banter and welcoming times at my hotel, albeit not quite as much as I would at the wedding I guess.I've since transited through Addis Adaba en route from Dubai to Cameroon several times, and I've been very impressed at Ethiopian Airlines and their Dreamliners. Punctual service, welcoming, comfortable, and a real pleasure to travel with.Ethiopia looks a verdant, vibrant and beautiful country - surprisingly hilly - and perhaps one day I will get round to exploring it more. Here's hoping!
