I’m a registered nurse who also runs a hypnotherapy practice. Occasionally, I get emails from people which read something like this: “I think hypnosis is a scam. No hypnotist has ever been able to hypnotize me. Care to try to hypnotize me and change my mind?” I always decline, though hypnosis is very much a real thing that I have used with clients (and patients, sometimes, when working as a RN) to help them achieve one or more goals. If it’s real, why do I decline? The answer, of course, is that the person sending the emails isn’t really interested in experiencing hypnosis, nor is he (it’s almost always a “he”) at all willing to approach hypnosis with an open mind. Instead, what he seeks is confirmation of what he has already decided to believe. Even if I were the world’s greatest hypnotist, I could almost certainly not hypnotize him. If I did, it is almost a guarantee he would deny the reality of the experience. It’s just not an honest question or even an honest challenge.Likewise, I will decline your offer. You will have to seek confirmation of what you already believe, elsewhere.

I studied Ericksonian Hypnotherapy at Harvard Medical School.The most impressive demonstration I saw was when our professor put someone into trance and told them that it was 120 degrees (49c) in the room. It was actually closer to 68 degrees, but my classmate began to perspire!You can’t fake that.It not only proves the efficacy of hypnosis, it illustrates the body-mind connection.Another memorable demonstration was when he hypnotized a female medical student and regressed her to the age of ten. He asked her what gifts she received on her tenth birthday and she answered in a British accent! Previously her accent was as Massachusetts as mine!After she was brought out of trance, she was asked about the British accent. She admitted being surprised by it and said that her family moved to England when she was nine years old and lived there until she was around eleven. She had no idea that she had picked up an English accent by the time she was ten.Some of my classmates use hypnosis on patients undergoing surgery. I don’t expect you could fake being conscious and not feeling pain during surgery.In my own practice, I’ve used hypnotherapy so that someone with ‘stagefright’ (and little time) could perform for or address a crowd. I’ve used it for people with agoraphobia who had to sit through their child’s graduation or wedding later that weekend.Stage hypnotists never successfully hypnotized me. TV and movies tend to portray hypnotism unrealistically. The hypnotist is not in any sort of unnatural control over you and they can’t make you do anything you wouldn’t want to do.But, yeah, hypnotism is very real. It’s not a panacea… not a ‘cure all’… but it can be an effective tool.

Clearly a troll question because while hypnosis is real and worksthis “sissification hypnosis” thing is a common trope in cross-gender pornography, and doesn’t work, because that’s not how hypnosis works.you can’t be hypnotized into doing something you don’t want to do.So, like sweet, sweet jazz; the message is in what you’re not saying.
