You should know the workflow of National Scholarship Portal to know this answer.These are the stages involved for getting scholarship from National Scholarship Portal(NSP)1.Verification Phase:Institute VerificationDistrict / State / Board VerificationIn verification phase, your documents are verified by your institute first and then it was forwarded to District/ State /Board Nodal officer. Usually only two phase verification will be present(ie. Institute and State only), but for Delhi/UTs all three level verification are present(Institute, District and State). Verification will open as soon as registrations for students get opened and students submit application before deadline.However, usually Institutes will be given only 15 days for verification after registrations/submissions of application form gets closed and 30 days for Districts/States for verification after registrations get closed for timely distribution of scholarship.It should be noted that even if you are application is verified by institute and district/state, it will not guarantee you the scholarship if you are a fresh applicant.2.Merit-List and Lot Generation Phase:Merit List Generation.(Only for Fresh Applications)Lot Generation.In this phase, first all the duplicate applications whoever submits two applications will be rejected and then all the verified fresh applications will be sent for Merit List Generation to concerned Ministry(Based on the scheme you apply) . Merit List is purely prepared based on the scheme criteria usually uses parameters like category, previous class percentage and budget allotted for that particular scholarship scheme. If your application is in Merit List that means you got selected for scholarship and you will receive scholarship amount. Please note that this is only for fresh applications and there will no merit list generation phase for renewal applications as they have already got selected for scholarship in previous academic year. Usually Merit List is prepared within 15 days after verification phase gets complete.If your application is in Merit List, then it will be sent for Lot Generation. In this phase, NIC(Website Host and Software Development/Management Team) will segregate the applications, state-wise and scheme-wise from merit list and create lots. This will take 10–15 days after merit list generation in case of fresh applications and in case of renewal lot generation is prepared immediately after verification phase gets complete.With this phase, the process in NSP gets completed and PFMS gets started. All the remaining process is carried by PFMSImmediately after Merit List generation, a copy of all the applications in merit list are sent to PFMS(Scholarship Distribution Software) for creation of Beneficary IDs. This will be done simultaneously with lot generation so it don’t take any separate deadline.3.Scholarship Approval & Disbursal PhasePayment File GenerationIntegrated Finance Division(IFD) ApprovalBill Generation & ScholarshipIn Payment File Generation Phase, PFMS will create payment files on receipt of lots from NSP and push these payment files concerned State/UT Units for verification of any system errors and appending digital signature. This usually takes 15 days.Once State/UT units digitally signed, payment files will be made available for Program Division(PD) Makers. PD makers will verify the payment files and get the approval from their respective IFD. These activities usually take 10 days.Subsequent to IFD approval, the PD maker will prepare Sanction Order against each payment file and send them to the Checker. The Checker will digitally sign each file and, thereafter, the DDO of the Ministry/Department will tally details, generate eBills and digitally sign them. The eBill will, thereafter, be sent to PAO who will verify them and digitally sign them before sending them for payments using PFMS. These activities take 15 days.In total,after the actual closing of student registrations for particular scholarship scheme, it takes almost 3 months to get your scholarship amount credit into your bank account, if you get selected for scholarship. Irrespective of the date your application got verified by institute or state.It should be noted that NSP usually extend deadlines for student registrations and also institute/state/district verifications frequently on the requests made by the respective stakeholders which makes all the process slow.Usually, the extension in deadilne is possible only for student registrations and verification phases.However, Once Merit list is generated, you will receive scholarship within 30–45 days.
