I recently got selected for 2018 summer internship in VMware Bangalore.My Interview experience :Round 1 : Online round via hireproRound 1 (90 mins): 4 Sections.Section 1:Time : 15 mins.10 MCQ’s , Aptitude SectionAptitude questions ( Boats & Streams, Profit and Loss, Histograms etc.,)These questions were tough(for the time given).Section 2 :Time : 30 mins19 MCQ’s , Technical SectionTechnical Questions on OS,Networks,OOP.Easy if you prepare well.Section 3 :Time : 15 mins15 MCQ’s , Language sectionQuestions in C++, Python,Java(predicting the output mostly).These were tricky, prone to error , most of the correct answers were “Compile error”.Section 4 :Time : 30 minsOne coding question ,Find if a given number has exactly three factors.It was an easy question, My approach was to find the square root of the given number and find if it’s a Prime or not.(O(logn)+O(sqrt(n))).Range of number 2<=n<=2^32 (Unsigned int will work, take long long for caution).10 out of 126 were shortlisted for the interviews.Round 2 : Face to Face interview on skype.After greeting, he immediately jumped to the technical part.Question 1: (Just to test whether I can code or not) Find the max-min in an array.(He shared a screen on online text editor - collabedit, I had to type in the code for him to verify).I gave the basic solution of 1 linear scan and find the answer.Question 2: For the same array in question 1(Any unsorted array) find maximum of a[j]-a[i] for (i<j)My approach : Use auxiliary space to store minimum up to i, and find max(a[i] – min_upto[i])time:O(n)space:O(n)He asked me if I can do it in O(1) space.I told him I can check for every possible pair in O(n2).He gave me hint to find maximum on the right part of every element at i,store the difference in a variable, I understood the logic and told him I only need to update this maximum if the current element at i is equal to the maximum.He was impressed as I grasped the idea quickly,asked me to write a function to find the maximum on the right of an element, I told him we have an inbuilt stl function for that (*max_element(a.begin()+i,a.end()) , he was happy with my answer and stopped coding questions and jumped into theory.Question 3: Tell me about virtual keyword and it's usage, I gave him a crisp explanation.Next few Questions on Threads in java.How run() method is different from start()for 3 threads t1,t2,t3 on same objectt1.run()t2.start()t3.start()predict the output for this..I gave him the correct answer.Then he said he was done with the first round.Round 3 : Similar to Round 2.Basic introduction, How was your day so far?Question 1 : Given a number n , and head node of a linked list , reverse all the n-partitions.I had to code on collab-edit and he verified later.Question 2 : What is the worst case complexity on Quicksort and when does it occur?O(n2) , when the array is already sorted.What would be the remedy?I told we can use merge sort as it is always O(nlogn)He asked if we can randomize choosing the pivot , would that help?I verified with the code of the partition function and found out it would work, I told him yes it'll always be O(nlogn) if we randomize pivot.He seemed satisfied.Question 3 : Given a 2D maze with 0's and 1's , find if there is a path between two points..path can be only those cell's containing 1's;I had to code this, I did it using DFS modification , he was impressed.He asked a few questions on scheduling algorithms in OS and regarding the fork() system call.Some more questions on packages , abstract classes and interfaces in java, I answered all of them.Then he said he was done and would get back to me.Round 4 : Telephonic HR roundHe explained me everything regarding the work for an intern then posed some basic behavioral questions.1) How was your day so far?2) What do you think about our work at VMware?3) What kind of a person are you?4) What would your friend tell about you?Be honest, if asked about future aims , never say anything regarding higher education or entrepreneurial ideas , It leaves them in a confused state to take you or not , just tell them you want to work in a good organization and scale up in it.Then he gave me the details regarding the stipend and perks.(This means you are selected).At last 2 of us were selected for internship in VMware Banglore.

Citicorp, Pune visited our campus to offer Summer Internship as Summer Technical Analyst profile and It was open for all branchesRound 1: Online Aptitude TestIt was conducted on 28th August 2020 on AMCAT Platform for 3 hours.It has 5 sections having verbal, logical questions, English, Data structures, Computer Network MCQs and 2 coding questions.MCQs were easy and there was no negative marking. Approximately one minute per question.Every section was allotted a particular time, You can not resubmit your answer, and you can not switch between sections or questions, you need to solve questions sequentially.Coding questions were:1. Print trapezium pattern for given an input nProgram to Print the Trapezium Pattern - GeeksforGeeks2. Backtracking Rat in Maze, similar to thisRat in a Maze | Backtracking-2 - GeeksforGeeksI was able to solve first question completely and second question partially.60 People were shortlisted for Interview Round.We had 2 Rounds for Interview at 3rd September 2020 on AMCAT PlatformRound 2: Technical Interview (20 mins)He asked me about myselfThe he asked names of subjects I had from semester 1 to 4, also which subject I like and I don't like (I said I like Data structures rather than OS and DBMS)Then he asked the reason and I told I like Problem solving than theory, that answer was not satisfactory for him I guess and he started asking me general OS and DBMS questions like types of CPU Scheduling and indexing.(So, if you are saying that you don't like any topic, make sure you have atleast basic knowledge about it)Then he asked me to code:1.Check whether a given number is prime or not2.Check whether given string is Palindrome or notAt the end, I asked him about his daily routine at Citi.It was average experience for me due to those OS questions, but maybe he was checking my patience level, so even if things are going wrong, you need to be patient and calm during the interview.30 students shortlisted for HR RoundRound 3: HR Interview (20 mins)The interviewer was very friendly, we had great discussion on various topics.The questions he asked to me:1. How are you doing?2. Tell me about yourself3. What motivates you everyday?4. How much the job is important to you?5. Why manholes are round not square shaped? (This was a general knowledge question, he just wanted to check my thought process)6. Difficult Phase in life7. What do you do apart from college (I said I like to write poems then he asked who is your favourite Poet)8. Why citi bank?9. In which part in citi bank you would like to work? (I said in Developing some banking system)10. What Qualities you look for in a Leader and Name one such leader in Real life11. What Group projects have you done and What you have learned from that12. Tell me about one of your group projectAt last I asked couple of questions about his role at citi, and he answered them nicely :)12 students were selected for internship, and I was one of them!Some Points I would like to highlight for Interview:1. Be calm and make yourself comfortable, Don't think too much JUST FACE THE SITUATION.2. SHOW CONFIDENCE while answering, don't say 'Maybe' or 'I think so'. If you don't know the answer, politely say NO.3. You should have ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE about everything on your Resume, don't write fake things in resume, they can catch you.4. BE YOURSELF, specially in HR round, there is nothing right and wrong so give your own and true opinions, don't give diplomatic answers.5. Don't loose hope, even if your interview was not up to your expectations, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN as they are going to select based on the relative performance.All the best! What are all my INTPs watching/interested in lately?My answer to this question is pretty long. Stay with me ‘till the end though.I like TV shows a lot. Especially when they are science fiction related, or psychological thrillers. I’ll start with the TV shows I enjoy.All lists are in no particular order.Lets start with one of my personal favorites:Sherlock (The BBC one of course). Genre: Psychological Thriller, Mystery, Crime. Starring: Benedict Cumberbatch as “Sherlock Holmes”. Based on: the Sherlock Holmes novels by, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The Sherlock of this show, is considered a high-functioning sociopathic INTP-T.“I’m not a psychopath, I’m a high-functioning sociopath. Do your research!” -Sherlock Holmes (Season 1).# of seasons: 4.If you want to be in the mind of a serial killer who kills killers and rapists, here is a dark, gory, mind-blowing story about “Dexter Morgan”, forensic tech by day, vigilante killer by night.Dexter (Showtime). Genre: Psychological Thriller, Crime Drama, Mystery. Starring: Michael C. Hall as “Dexter Morgan”. Based on the novels by Jeff Lindsay. Dexter is considered to be an INTP-T with high-functioning sociopathy, PTSD, and probably OCD (due to his meticulous efforts to clean up his own crimes).# of seasons: 8“They make it look so easy, connecting with another human being, it’s like no one told them it’s the hardest thing in the world.” -Dexter Morgan (Season 1).“Surprise, motherfucker!” -Sgt. James Doakes (Season 1).“A baby!? A motherfucking roly-poly, chubby cheeked shit-machine?! Are you kidding me?” -Debra Morgan (Season 3).Next is a very INTP-T show, Mr. Robot. The show follows “Elliot Alderson”, cybersecurity technician by day, vigilante hacker by night. If you are an INTP, I highly suggest this show. Definitely one of my all-time favorite shows.Mr. Robot (USA). Genre: Psychological Thriller, Crime Drama, Mystery. Starring: Rami Malek as “Elliot Alderson”. Elliot is considered to be an INTP-T who has Multiple Personality Disorder, probably Bipolar Disorder (due to his frequent, insane mental breakdowns throughout the show). He is also a morphine addict. He has a lot of flaws, but tries his best to do what he thinks is his potential to make the world a better place. If you like crazy twists and turns in a TV show, this is the one for you.# of seasons: 4“Deletion. When you make that decision, there's always that moment of hesitation. That annoying "Are you sure?" dialogue box, and then you have to make a decision. Yes or no. Yes means ridding the world of Mr. Robot forever. That includes you. Maybe it's something I should have done a long time ago.” -Elliot Alderson (Season 3, I think).If you like Dexter, “Breaking Bad” is a pretty great show too. Follows a chemistry teacher and a drug addict who cook up “the world’s purest” methamphetamine.Breaking Bad (AMC). Genre: Neo-Western, Crime Drama, Mystery, Psychological Thriller. Starring: Bryan Cranston as “Walter White”, and Aaron Paul as “Jesse Pinkman”. Crazy twists and turns again! Walter white is considered an INTJ who has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Jesse Pinkman is considered an INFP (sometimes INTP-like) with a lot of depression throughout the show and the new movie spinoff: “El Camino” (2019), which takes place directly after the events in “Breaking Bad”. Great show though, it gives you a perspective on what it would be like to make drugs, use them, and ruin your entire life and family by doing so.# of seasons: 5“Say my name.” -Walter White. “You’re Heisenberg.” -Some Guy. “You’re goddamn right!” -Walter White.This show is another INTJ-like one, called “The Punisher”.The Punisher (Marvel and Netflix). Genre: Crime Drama, Military themed, Psychological Thriller. Starring: Jon Bernthal (also a cast member of “The Walking Dead”, which is another amazing TV show by AMC) as “Frank Castle” aka “The Punisher”. Based on the Marvel comics of the same name. This show is very unique. I have never seen something that presents vengeance so vividly. Daredevil (Marvel and Netflix), another great show I love, has “The Punisher” appearing in the plotline of Season 2. Frank Castle is commonly considered to be an INTJ-T who has PTSD.# of seasons: 2“One batch, two batch, penny and dime.” -Frank Castle (Season 1).“One condition.” -Frank Castle. “Yeah, name it.” -David Lieberman. “They die. Yeah? Every single one of them. No trials. No bullshit. They die.” -Frank Castle. “Yeah, I can live with that.” -David Lieberman. (Season 1).“Pain. You can get used to pain, Lieberman. You can adjust to it. You can adjust to pretty much anything. Just as long as there's routine, right? Routine. Human mind, it craves it. Needs it. But if you take that away, that... That's when you start to lose your shit.” -Frank Castle (Season 1).There are two last shows that I would like to share. Both are the most mind-bending TV shows that I have ever encountered. The first, is “Legion”, one of my all-time favorite shows. In fact, I have an art piece that is based on the show as my profile picture.Legion (Marvel and FX). Genre: Psychological Thriller, Mystery, Science Fiction. Starring: Dan Stevens as “David Haller”, Aubrey Plaza as “Lenny Busker”, and Rachel Keller as “Syd Barret”. Based on the Marvel comics of the same name. This show follows “David Haller” the son of “Professor X, aka. Charles Xavier”, the most notable leader of the X-Men. David becomes sort of possessed by a demonic mutant who wants revenge against Professor X, so he frequently takes control of David’s mind. The story awakens with David being sent to “Clockworks”, a mental hospital. David is diagnosed with Schizophrenia. David is considered to be an INFP-T who has narcissistic personality disorder and multiple personality disorder.# of seasons: 3“Everybody in here keeps saying that I’m sane. What if they’re wrong?” -David Haller (Season 1).“It’s just Thursday. My 260th Thursday as a passenger on the cruise ship Mental Health.” -David Haller (Season 1).“What if you’re not the hero? This show is very INTP with its crazy visuals and its mind-melting questions that it asks reality. It is, hands down, the greatest sci-fi animated show ever created in my point of view.Undone (Amazon Prime). Genre: Science Fiction, Drama, Adult Animation, Psychological Thriller. Starring: Rosa Salazar as “Alma Winograd-Diaz” and Bob Odenkirk ( who recognizably plays “Saul Goodman” in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”) as “Jacob Winograd”. The show follows a girl who is bored as hell with her life, and wants to get out of her loop of everyday life. She gets in a car accident and gets a concussion in the process. As she starts awakening in the hospital, she starts seeing her dead father, Jacob Winograd, and she keeps finding herself in a continuous time-loop that she can’t seem to get out of. One could say that it seems her reality has now been ‘undone’.# of seasons: 1 (assumedly more will come in the near future.)“I'm so bored of living.” -Alma Winograd-Diaz (Season 1).“I'm so sorry I almost died at a bad time.
