I recently got my PAN corrected on NSDL through Aadhar e-kyc/e-sign (no physical documents) process. The whole process took a month. I’ll write the application process, timeline of events, wait period below:Assumption: I assume your Aadhar card has the correct information for the field(s) you want to correct in PAN card. For example, to correct your DOB in PAN, you need to have correct DOB in your Aadhar card. In my case, I applied for correction in almost every field — Name, Father name, DOB, Address. Since my Aadhar was correct for all these fields, I could successfully correct my PAN to reflect the same details.Timeline of events:Day 1 (Apply Online): Apply for correction/new PAN here:https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.htmlSelect e-kyc/e-sign option where you will get authentication password on the same mobile number your Aadhar is registered with. Through this process, your Aadhar details will be automatically be transferred to NSDL and you do not need to send any physical documents.After applying, you will get an email with the tracking number and a link where you can check application status by either tracking id or name+father name+DOB details.Status Track search for PAN/TANNote that, for 3 days, I could not see the application status and the following error was shown." Sorry, No record found ".Do not worry. It takes some days to reflect the status. In my case, it took 3 days.Day 4 (Application status shows demanding documents): After 3 days, the application status changed to following:“We have not yet received the supporting documents with respect to your PAN application. Kindly submit the requisite documents to NSDL to enable us to process your PAN application at the earliest. For further details, please read the guidelines and instructions or contact TIN Call Center at 020 - 27218080”.Ignore this status and do NOT bother to send any documents (as long as you applied through Aadhar e-kyc/e-sign process). Your corresponding details were transferred from Aadhar automatically when you applied online.Day 9 (Under process at NSDL): After 5 days from the previous status update, my application status was changed to:“Your application for ''New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data'' is under process at NSDL”Day 16 (Under process at Income Tax Department): After 7 days from the previous status update, my application status was changed to:“Your application for ''New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data'' is under process at Income Tax Department”Day 18 (Approved by Income Tax Department): After 2–3 days from the previous status update, my application status was changed to:“Your application for 'New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data' has been accepted by the Income Tax Department. Your PAN Card will be dispatched to you shortly"This status remained for a long time. Meanwhile, I could see that my PAN details have been successfully changed since I could link my Aadhar to PAN card. Also, I logged in with updated DOB on some portal on Income tax website.Day 30 (Courier details / Received PAN card): After 12 days from the previous status update, my application status was changed to:“Your PAN card has been dispatched on <date> by Blue Dart Express Ltd courier vide airway bill no. <tracking id>, at the address for communication* indicated by you in the application. The PAN card is expected to be delivered by <date>”Coincidentally, on the same day later, I received my updated PAN card through courier. Actually, the PAN card was dispatched on about day 25 or so but the portal did not update the status until day 30.Hope this helps.P.S. : I observed that my application status changed only on weekends. Especially, Saturday mornings. I am not sure if it’s only me. :)P.P.S. : Do not forget to follow up with courier company. In my case, the PAN card envelope did not have my building name. I had to follow up with bluedart customer care to correct address.
