Intel plans to complete Fab 42, a semiconductor factory in Chandler, Arizona, with an investment of more than $7 billion over the next three to four years. At its peak, the factory will employ about 3,000 process engineers, equipment technicians, and facilities-support engineers and technicians. Fab 42 will produce 7 nm (nanometer) chips and is "expected to be the most advanced semiconductor factory in the world".

If you buy a pre-fab house, you’re not expecting high-end, custom architecture. You know what you’re getting, and it meets enough of your needs relative to the price point. Same with site builders — you get a standardized commodity product for cheap or free, which meets your needs well enough at the price point. I’m all for it: There’s no reason why, if all you need is a simple Web presence, to go for a bespoke job that costs more than the return you expect from the investment.If you’re in the market for a pre-fab site, you wouldn’t hire a UX designer in the first place. It doesn’t eat into the market for my services at all. If anything, it increases the value of UX, because designing a good site builder is more difficult than simply designing a commodity Web site. Not only do you have to make something complicated into something easy for end users, but you also have to design templates such that the end result is at least usable and reasonably pleasing.This becomes doubly true when the site builders and drag-and-drop UIs include e-commerce and other interactive solutions, as opposed to simple business-card sites. You’re working with two layers of use, not one, so in addition to creating a usable and pleasing interface for the creators you also have to somehow make it so it guides them towards a usable and pleasing end result.UX is not, as the watered-down label many companies throw around, would suggest, “look and feel” or “Web design plus coding”. The user experience is the entirety of the user’s experience with a product and the company behind it. This means that if you’re doing actual UX, you’re not just assembling images, fonts, and colors. You’re considering how the entirety of features and functionality, organization, usability, visual design, and copy work together to meet user and business goals. The end result is one aspect of both product quality and brand perception — what your customers and users think and feel about the product.If you need real UX, you’re not in the market for pre-fab sites, and vice versa. These are two separate markets.
