I worked on a very large Flux app at Facebook and later led teams in developing four smaller Flux apps. I also authored the Flux examples and documentation on the Flux website.Working with Flux and React has been simply amazing. New engineers come up to speed with it very, very quickly. The learning curve is not steep, as it is with other framework-oriented development.Moreover, new features tend to fall into place with existing code rather than requiring refactoring. Here is an example from a recent project: we originally built a friend list in React and provided it with static data on page load. Later, we wanted to build a typeahead (aka autocomplete) UI where the user could search for a particular friend, beyond the initial number we provided. We started making XHR calls with the typeahead, received the new data, and updated the application state managers -- in Flux we call these "stores". And suddenly we were done. That was it. The friend list was updating automatically on every keystroke without any change to the view layer's rendering logic, and minimal changes to the application state management.This experience continued as our applications grew. React+Flux applications are resilient to new features. This allows us to grow our applications with much more confidence and speed.The roots of Flux's strength are in accepting its constraints: all changes in an application must originate from an "action" -- a map of data describing something that happened in the real world: the user clicked or the server responded, etc. Then we dispatch that action to all of the stores.
