PDF Editor FAQ

If there was an extensive gun confiscation program in the US and around 5% of gun owners revolted, what damage would they do to local police forces, government, and national guard units?

The last statistic from the Census I read, there were or are 390 million people in the U.S.According to the NRA, there are half of those household that have guns. And some of them have more than one, in multiples. Like 5 or more.So half of 390 is 195 millionso there should be at least 400 million if not more guns in the US. Those are classified as Long-guns (rifles and shotguns) and handguns. That’s taking 195 million roundings off to 200, and doubling it, if I wanted to times 5, that would be 1,000,000,000 or 1 Billion guns in the U.S.Let's Do some simple math.Los Angeles has a population of about 11–12 million according to the 2010 census and has grown A LOT in 9 years so maybe 14 million now.Half of those have guns so that’s 5.5 million (using the conservative lower number, not the 14 million). some have more than one. like 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. so let's make that bump back up conservatively to 10 million guns.IN LA there are bout 9–10 thousand LA Sheriff Deputies, and 9–10 thousand LAPD cops. Those are the TWO BIGGEST Police / Deputies that work and patrol the Greater LA City and LA County. You also have some small surrounding cities with their own police departments, (like Long Beach, Torrance, Beverly Hills, wealthy cities with enough tax revenue can have their own Private Police agencies, those that are smaller and don’t have the funds Contract it police work out to the LA County Sheriff’s Deputies, but those two are the biggest.Of those half of each do patrols. so 5 thousand of each, 5k + 5k = 10,000 cops and deputies combined that go out in the field and do patrols. And at any given time, they rotate in 10 hours (4 days work with 3 days off) or 12 hours shifts (3 days work with 4 days off).So at any given moment HALF to 1/3 of those 10k cops are out on patrol either day or night shift. Unless they call them all up for some RIOT Gear RIOT suppression, like the Rodney King riots back in the 1980s or something like that.So the battle would be 3k to 5k cops, deputies vs. 550,000 civilian citizens (mind you all law-abiding citizens, right up to the call to have GUN CONFISCATION, which NOW CRIMINALIZES gun ownership) all armed to the teeth. Now, 5% of let's say 12 million population is what? 550,000 gunfight versus 3,000 to 5,000 cops all armed to the teeth. Now here is a hypothetical. Those cops are ALL LOCAL and live in surrounding cities. So do you think those Cops and Deputies can make it home to their families to protect them while people retaliate and attack those Families of the LAPD Cops and LASD Deputies for violating their LAW ABIDING rights? The COPS and DEPUTIES can’t be at both places at once. Those Cops also have to do grocery shopping, go to the doctors, take the children to school and drop off their kids in the same or nearby communities where they live and work. Maybe they commute from the next county over. I see them on the freeway frequently passing me or next to me and I know they’re either commuting home in the evening or to work in the mornings. So if those Cops and Deputies confiscate guns from people in the surrounding communities who haven’t committed any crimes. Their only crime is to “own” a gun. What do you think would happen to them? Not to mention the “Taking” of the gun, is a valuable property and Violates the “Takings Clause” of the US Constitution. Guns are expensive, they are not cheap. Good quality ones can start at $300, $400, $500 and $1000 and more. Times multiples of 4 or 5, you’re talking $2,000, $3,000, of some citizens valuable property. The “Takings Clause” of the US Constitution says, the Gov’t may not take someone's possession without compensating them for value, which would be market value for their property. That’s why when you see or hear about these so-called “GUN-BUY-BACKS” BY THE LOCAL Gov’ts, they pay you and destroy your guns. AND IT’S FULLY VOLUNTARY.ONLY A MORON would turn over their weapons in any voluntary buy-back. Police are ALWAYS RETROACTIVE. They only show up AFTER-THE-FACT to make a statement of the crime and make out a report. What are you going to do when a robber, bad guy, or burglar shows up to do harm to you and your wife, family, daughter? Use harsh language and cuss them out? LOLYou ladies, What are you going to do when a serial murder or serial rapist shows up and you have no defense? Scream, use harsh language, and curse them out? LOLThe point is there is more than one way to get those cops AND their Families. If they want to kill you and your family? Then they and their families are fair game also in a GUN CONFISCATION, breaking down LAW ABIDING CIVILIANS front door and making LAW ABIDING CITIZENS hand over your guns? Really?=======================================================A lot of those cops and deputies own guns on the side also besides their service weapon on the job. Would they also have to turn those in? Sure you bet. Those personal weapons are not work-related. They would also have to turn those in.Those extra handguns and rifles, and shotguns that Cops and Deputies would be “in-scope” for any “gun-confiscation” also. Failure to enforce would make that an arrest-able crime for those corrupt cops who want to enforce that.See cops have to qualify on the weapon that they carry, E.g. Handgun if they don’t “Qualify” with those weapons they don’t get to carry it. And there is no provision that allows them to carry their personally owned shotgun or rifle or handgun. It’s just not permitted. So COPS & DEPUTIES would have to hand them over also. What about when they retire or leave the force. Those cops & deputies don’t get to take those privileges with them. Nope the privilege to carry a firearm is OVER. Those cops would be in-scope for “Gun Confiscation” also or be arrested like any other swinging Joe. THOSE COPS & DEPUTIES WHO RETIRE ARE NOW CIVILIANS AFTER THEY RETIRE and would have to comply and hand over their weapons also. And that’s not just them, the Cops or Deputies. If they enforce any “GUN CONFISCATION” it must be done fairly and evenly. What do I mean? The Family and extended families of those Cops and Deputies, Sons, Daughters, Dads, Moms, Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, they are all in-scope for the Gun Confiscation. Failure to evenly enforce the law would be a criminal offense. Aiding and abetting evasion of the law; conspiracy, obstruction of justice would be only the beginning charges.======================================================And It’s also a “taking” by the Gov’t. The Gov’t “cannot” take something from you without compensating you. It’s called the “Taking’s Clause of the Constitution” And it’s “ILLEGAL”.What do you think would happen? Now take that Scenario and MULTIPLY THAT across the entire U.S. in every biggest major Cities and County. Washington DC and Chicago are no gun zone cities yet they have the HIGHEST Gun crime rates like Homicide. Here are the TOP 18 COUNTIES IN THE US BY POPULATIONYou see 6 of those largest counties are in the California2010 Census - Populations: (rounding off) These numbers are low, way low.1 Los Angeles California 9,818,605 (10 Million) more like 14 million by now2 Chicago Cook Illinois 5,211,263 (5.2 Million)3 Houston Harris Texas 4,652,980 (4.6 Million)4 Phoenix Maricopa Arizona 4,307,033 (4.3 Million)5 San Diego California 3,337,685 (3.3 Million)6 Santa Ana-Orange California 3,190,400 (3.2 Million)7 Miami-Dade Florida 2,751,796 (2.8 Million)8 Brooklyn-Kings New York 2,648,771 (2.7 Million)9 Dallas Texas 2,618,148 (2.7 Million)10 Riverside California 2,423,266 (2.5 Million)11 Queens New York 2,358,582 (2.4 Million)12 Las Vegas Clark Nevada 2,204,079 (2.2 Million)13 Seattle King Washington 2,188,649 (2.2 Million)14 San Bernardino California 2,157,404 (2.2 Million)15 Fort Worth Tarrant-Texas 2,054,475 (2.0 Million)16 San Antonio Bexar-Texas 1,958,578 (2.0 Million)17 San Jose/Santa Clara-California 1,938,153 (2.0 Million)18 Ft Lauderdale-Broward-Florida 1,935,878 (2.0 Million)And here this is for you.Just the latest. Another expanded background checks on firearms purchases. What do you think would happen?Your guess is as good as mine.===========================================================April 6th, 2019 UPDATE: Here’s a case in point. A Federal judge in Southern District; ruled the California ban on high-capacity magazines “Unconstitutional”; THAT lasted about 4 days then the ban was back in as the California AG asked for a “Stay” of the ruling so they could review it.Federal Judge Rules High Capacity Magazine Ban Unconstitutional - Here's What Happens NowFederal Judge: California's 'High-Capacity' Magazine Ban UnconstitutionalJudge reinstates ban on high-capacity gun magazine purchases during the appealSAN DIEGO —A San Diego federal judge last week knocked down a state law banning high-capacity gun magazines, but in a new ruling, Thursday held that sales and manufacturing of such parts will remain against the law until the case has exhausted all appeals.U.S. District Court Judge Roger Benitez’s latest order essentially returns the situation surrounding magazines holding more than 10 bullets to the status quo that has been in place since the summer of 2017, when the judge granted a preliminary injunction. According to the terms, gun owners can’t acquire new magazines, but they aren’t barred from owning them. The state Attorney General’s Office petitioned the judge for a stay to his final decision on the lawsuit, Duncan v. Beccera, until the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal can weigh in.=============================================I just found this statistic or fact so let me add this. See below.Police Agencies in the U.S. own about 1.5 million guns.Americans own about 400 million guns. U.S. Population is about 330–350 million. Now I would say 1/4 to 1/3 maybe 1/2 of those are Anti-gun, or pacifists peaceniks (who bought into the brainwash that guns can develop hands and feet on their own and walk away and by themselves shoot innocent people/BTW criminals want you to believe that) -who also don’t believe in the 2nd Amendment or owning a gun for self-defense.so let's use 1/3 that would leave about 220 million.so 1/3 of the U.S. population of that 220 million would be about 70 million. And since there are 400 million firearms in the hands of civilians? that would mean each gun owner owns about (4) firearms TOTAL or in the AGGREGATE. E.g., sidearm (short-arms) revolver or semi-auto; shotguns; and long guns like rifles. The military owns about 1.8 million guns.So do the math; Absent the military violate their oath to the constitution and commit “posse comitatus”; Where it’s illegal for US troops to occupy civilian land. And bring out the heavy artillery vs. civilians (tanks, mortars, Apache helicopters, bombers and fighters against their own population. It’s a no-contest in a conventional war “Armed militia of Americans civilians would win”. Versus the police and military. AND, AND, AND a lot of states, in a lot of states civilians have almost identical firearms (absent fully automatic selection) as the police and military. And just as I stated “above”? “The COPS and DEPUTIES can’t be at both places at once.” And neither can the U.S. military if they decide to open fire on American civilians on US Soil like they did at Kent University during a peaceful protest. The fall out from that was tremendous OUTRAGE in the entire U.S.“University students protest the Vietnam War and the Kent State University shooting, Chicago, Illinois, May 5, 1970”The problem was the students were unarmed peaceful protestors. Now FLIP that and make them armed like the AMERICAN BLACK PANTHERS. NOBODY F’s with them.I’ll tell you a little secret nobody ever discusses or realizes. Ready? The US Constitution has the Bill of Rights; aka 24 Amendments.the 1st and more most is the 1st Amendment; Right to Freedom of speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom to Travel, Freedom to raise your own family; Freedom to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness basically.RIGHT AFTER that is the 2nd Amendment. Right for a militia to bear arms. You where this RIGHT is? The 2nd Amendment comes right after the 1st Amendment. It’s not the 3rd, or 4th, or the 5th or the 6th Amendment; The right to bear arms is right after the initial freedoms of (Speech, Travel, Life, Liberty, Gather peacefully, etc, etc, etc):Why is that?it’s because the creators of this Great country the USA; and the creators of the US Constitution KNEW that it was IMPORTANT to be able to ENFORCE and DEFEND those FREEDOMS with Arms; tough language or yelling or tough words just won’t do it; just won’t work versus the other side using FIREARMS; it’s like the saying; “don’t bring a knife to a gunfight”.During those times King George and his Sheriff’s and his Red Coat British soldiers had arms, and the only thing they understood was lead from the 2nd Amendment to enforce the Rights and Civil Liberties of the 1st Amendment. Now do you understand? Why the creators of the US Constitution put the 2nd Amendment right after the 1st Amendment?; they didn’t put it 3rd, or 4th or 5th which they could have done.Todays politicians have forgotten that lesson. And are trying to do away with and whittle down little-by-little the 2nd Amendment.if you like this answer please give me an upvote below - Thanks

Has anyone lost all their money and subsequently re-built their wealth? What happened and what did you learn from it?

Making a million dollars, for me, up to this point, has easily been the most life-changing thing that I’ve ever experienced. I would never have imagined simply wanting that much money could change my life like it did. Even if I hadn't hit a million, the journey in itself was inexplicably profound. It was 2008 and the mortgage market just crashed. Everyone in my circle of friends was feeling the pinch and scrambling to figure out what to do.Do you quit? Revamp your plan? Jump employers?I jumped. And jumped 3-4 times. Then it happened: I ran out of money. The last jump landed me into an entry-level telemarketing job making $10/hour. I did it for 3 weeks and quit. To this day, that was the worst job I’ve ever had.Imagine going from earning $10-15k/month to being lucky if you hit $2k. Unless you’ve been there, it’s hard to understand how it feels.I buckled down and did some side-jobs. I even sold things that I shouldn't have here and there. It was not something that I'm proud of. However, when you have to make rent, you'll do anything to survive.Embarrassingly, I picked up a short-lived pain pill addiction. It was the ultimate low point in my life. Then I got pulled over.It was a Friday evening. The sun was just going down. I'll never forget the emotions that I went through.I was in a hurry to get to dinner. Pain-pilled-out, and, of course, speeding down the road when I passed a cop. I knew I was speeding. I saw him as I sped past him. He pulled me over. He was a nice guy and he didn't even give me a ticket.I had a moment of clarity after being pulled over. I thought about all of the things that could have gone wrong and where I was in my life. I was ashamed. Embarrassed. Sad. Disappointed. I had this reflection moment and remember repeatedly asking myself, “How the f*ck did I get here?”To this day, I think some higher power sent that cop after me. He was so nice and cool. It was a kind of calm that you don’t ever see in police officers. I have not had a lot of experience but this felt so different. It also made me think about things very seriously for some odd reason.Over the course of the next 2 weeks, I quit my job, finished the college courses I had enrolled in and decided I needed to change a few things in my life, since what I was doing clearly wasn’t working.I didn't know what it was I wanted to change yet. However, I felt that moving away from where I had lived my whole life was something I felt I needed to do. I had seen everything there was to see in my hometown.I had never travelled up until that point, so the thought of moving was uncomfortable.I mean, moving somewhere I’m unfamiliar? What? No way!How would I find a place to live? How would I make friends? What if people thought I was this or that?"Go for it", I hear my dad say in my head. My dad used to write that exact phrase under the bill of my hat in baseball so it echoes in my head all the time. Thanks dad!Anyway, I was able to track down two close friends of mine. One was in San Diego and the other was in Miami. It was either/or and I was determined to do something. Anything would be better than where I was at that time.I packed my puke green 2001 G20 Infiniti with everything I could, skipped paying my best friend (who is still my best friend to this day) rent money (sorry Kyle!), drove to San Diego with my buddy Maurice and visited a mutual friend of ours.My G-20 InfinitiMy buddy in San Diego said that he was living in a mansion and mentioned all the opportunities in San Diego. I was stoked!Unfortunately, he neglected to mention a few things. He was living in a mansion that just got foreclosed on. There was nothing in the house.Literally.No stove. Fridge. Even the countertops had been removed. He was living in the pool house. He was renting from the owner until the bank came and took the home.It wasn't exactly what I was looking for.My next option was Miami. Now that’s a ~4k mile drive that would take at least 3-4 days.I had $612.24 in my bank account. Gas alone would cost that much. It was probably not the most logical idea.“Fuck it”. I was determined. I went anyway."We can't stay at any hotels, bro", I tell Maurice, before we left. "I don’t have the money, so we’ll have to go ghetto-style. We’ll pull over and take naps."Interestingly enough, Maurice was excited about the fact that we could drive to Miami as fast as possible and not sleep on the way.I remember saying to him, that it doesn't even matter how the drive went/was going to go down, we have that kind of chemistry where we’ll have fun no matter what. It didn't and doesn't matter how it worked out.Fear crept in, though. Like never before. Anxiety. The whole 9.I remember thinking "I don’t know, man, maybe I should just go back home and crash on my mom’s couch until I can find something".Fuck that.4 days later, I arrived in Miami at my friend's condo with -$120ish (yes that’s a minus sign) in my bank account. My Infiniti G20The gas and food I bought along the way made my account overdrawn. It left me with four -$30 charges that went overdraft, so the -$120 were fees from charges that didn't even exceed $30.Could things get any worse?!Oh yeah...a lot worse. We finally got to Miami. I didn’t even know what I was going to eat at this point. Fortunately, I had a deposit hit my account the next day. It was my final paycheck of $290 from the telemarketing job. After the -$120-ish overdraft, I had around $170 left. I don’t remember the exact amount but it was definitely under $200.I needed to make my car payment ($320). I also needed food, gas, etc. How was I supposed to pull this off?To make matters worse, the friend I was staying with, had neglected to tell me that her landlord had a strict 1-pet-only policy. We had three.About a week later, after barely surviving and putting up with her colorful temper, we got a letter from the landlord."You guys have 30 days to move out. I know about your dogs."What do you do when you can’t even give your friend, who can barely afford her rent, any money, and on top of that you can barely afford to feed yourself? You scour the Craigslist job section and take the first thing you can find.A few days later, I found a job. It paid $400/week plus commission. Here is the original email I received and sent in for the position:I took it that same day. This job is where my life completely turned around.I met an eighteen-year-old kid who went by the name of "Rusty" -- Rusty in real life. On the phone, he was known as "James Taylor".Apparently his real name was Russian and it didn't sound “trustworthy”. Therefore, he used an alias. "James Taylor" sounded like a good kid from Nebraska, or so I was told.SMHRusty was by no means a sharp individual. His parents had immigrated from Russia when he was 2-3 years old. I believe the he had dropped out of middle school. He couldn't draft an email to a customer without them thinking that he was mentally challenged. No one really liked him. He was kind of an odd character who dressed funny. However, he had a good heart. I have always been drawn to people who have a good heart, or seem well-intentioned, no matter what they look like. This was an attorney-services sales job. We were helping people get out of foreclosure. It seemed like a slimy business but it was legal and it sometimes worked. Who am I to judge?Over the next few weeks, I made friends with Rusty/James. To this day, I still don't know his real name.My first couple of checks wouldn't come for weeks. Meanwhile, we had to be out of the apartment we were in pretty quick. We had to do something. What did we decide to do? We rented a short-term motel. It was surprisingly two stories and had about 350 square feet. It had a bed, futon, sink, small fridge and a small TV. We had three dogs, two people and a whole lot of shit. It wasn't comfortable but it worked. It was sure better than the street. It was only one block from the beach, so that made it seem a little cooler. This was the absolute low point in my life.I’m not going to lie, it sucked. I cried a few times like a little girl. It is embarrassing to admit. I mean, I'm a kid from the suburbs. I never had been close to homelessness in my life. My parents were poor as hell but we always ate and always had a place to sleep. This was a scary time for me.The second night at the motel, I walked out to the beach and sat in the sand with my dogs. I listened to the ocean crash against the sand. It was literally just me, the sand, the moon and my dogs.I had a conversation with God. I don't know if there really is a God, but I have always believed in a higher power. At that point I didn't really have any other options.I’m sure you're thinking...yes you do...I thought about a lot of them.Food stamps? Welfare? Fuck that. No way. Never.I had a conversation with Him for about 20 minutes...Him and my deceased Grandfather.I wasn't sure how God and my grandpa would take me asking them for help. I didn’t want them judging me (lol), so I didn’t feel like I could in my right mind ask them for anything. The truth was that I felt like I was where I was because I did something wrong. I did something along the way that made me deserve where I was. I almost felt guilty. I felt like I let people down. However, no one really knew how bad it was other than my roommate. I didn’t broadcast my situation. That is for sure.I guess in hindsight, I felt that most people would ask God for what they wanted. I felt it was wrong to ask for something that I knew deep down I didn't deserve. So…I asked for forgiveness. I also thanked them for everything I did have, including my mom, my dad, my brothers and sister and my chihuahuas. I was also thankful for the meal I just had. I remember saying to them that I know I deserve what I have and what has happened. I accepted my situation and tried to be positive.I remember walking back to the hotel and telling myself that no matter what happens and no matter where I end up, I’m never going to want for anything again. I committed to learning and to constantly work on becoming a better version of who I was. I wanted to be better in every way that I could. That was the variable that I could control. I can’t control certain things, but I can control those things.Looking back, the lesson I took from that era in my life was that all people no matter where or who, are dealt a very different set of cards. Some people learn quickly to play that hand the best they can, while for others it takes a little more time.If ever.I realized that it doesn’t matter what kind of hand you are dealt, it is how you play that hand that matters. This includes everything from attitude (positive or negative), —the way you dress, and what you say or think, behave and do habitually. Some of you might get lucky and some of you might not, but at the end of the day you get out of what you put into anything.Being completely absorbed and consumed, obsessed even, by something you desire, has an effect on the outcome. There is a very powerful thing that occurs when you focus your mind on something obsessively.I cut my family off as well as my friends back home. I got a new phone number and new email address. I cut off my entire previous life and decided I would focus on me and my life until I became a success. Success meant money, and lots of it.I wanted one million dollars. That was my first goal. I figured if I had that, I would have time to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted with whoever I wanted. That would mean I was successful. I would be completely free from everything and in complete control of my time.I spent my weekends at the library. I spent my nights Googling "how to get rich" and "how to become a millionaire". I obsessed over becoming successful.I started running and working out, because I read that's what successful people do.I bought books on books on books. I bought books on CD and I subscribed to Audible. I read everything including tax law, corporate finance, day trading and shit I never thought I'd ever give a crap about. I did it just because. I didn't even know what I didn't know, so if it sounded like it could help me make money, I read it.I worked at my place of employment for 6 weeks. I caught on pretty quickly. I learned that the heart of their business relied on generating LEADS. I started generating my own by simply leaving comments on blogs about how great my company was. It was stupid and simple, but it was effective and I made a killing doing this.Eventually, I made the money I needed to for a decent apartment and we moved in.After 4-5 weeks, I caught on to what the company was doing and quickly realized I could do the same exact thing and make 10x's more money if I did it myself. I've always been a self-starter, so the idea of working for myself was not scary at all. Not having money was, but even if I could just get one customer it would pay my bills for the month. That was my mantra for the month: Just get one customer. One customer = rent and food for 30 days.I had no idea how to make a website or start a company, so I started using Google and made some calls to figure out the details. It took me two weeks and I had the system dialed in. Computers always came easy to me. That was one of the cards I mentioned earlier which I felt life had dealt me.By the way, that poker analogy earlier wasn’t foo-foo nice-sounding bullshit. I’m dead fucking serious. Pay attention to what cards life has dealt you and use them. I cannot express how imperative that is. Self-awareness is so incredibly important in my opinion that I would go so far as to say that it takes importance over anything and everything in your life. Period. Everything.I digress. My website was the part that I couldn't figure out. I didn't have the money to buy one but, like I said, I was really comfortable with a computer. I thought that maybe I could learn to make one myself.I called up my buddy Ronnie back in Cali and asked him if he could help."Sure", he said."How do I do it?" I asked."Dude, use Joomla!" Ronnie began to explain.Joomla was starting to gain a lot of attention around the time that WordPress was. There were also several tutorials and a great support forum.I started using Joomla and making my website. It took me 3-4 weeks before I could get something worth looking at. This was annoying as hell because I was spending 12 hours a day trying to make it work. This took time away from prospecting for new business, which in turn decreases profits. All of these things were bad.Ronnie was starting to get annoyed by my never-ending myriad of questions via Skype/chat and email. He eventually disappeared. I still feel bad about bugging him to this day. After my website was up, I was rolling and had my first handful of initial leads/customers from my comment spam — ha ha ha.About 2-3 weeks after my site was up, I got a call from Rusty. I hadn't talked to him for a while. I actually hadn't talked to anyone for a while. It was mainly because I was busy working and trying to survive. However, it was also because I didn't have any friends anyway.Rusty said he started at a new company and had told the owner about me. He put in a good word and said if I wanted a job I could have one.I said, “No way man. I just left my last employer and I’m starting to gain a little traction. Why would I do that?”He said it wasn’t like that. The owner apparently knew about my new company and wanted to see if we could work together. He then asked me, "What are you going to do when you want to rent an office and hire people?"Damn. That young little shit was right. I was eventually going to need an office and to hire someone. I did need a lot of help. Signing a 3-year lease and putting up a guarantee would not be easy for me at that point.“OK” I thought. I’ll meet with him and hear what he has to say. That was the single best decision I ever made to this day. If I had not agreed to this meeting, I am not sure I would have ever made anything of myself so fast.I need to take a moment and express to you, the reader, that this moment in my life was the breaking point where everything changed. It wasn’t because I did anything special. This is what biblical texts would call “grace”.From my experience, 10 years later, I can tell you that grace is something that comes in the most mysterious ways for the most incredible reasons. The coolest thing about grace is it will come in a way that you would never expect. This is why it is so imperative to stay on your toes in your respective fields. It is important to never judge people or situations on what you see, but what you intuitively feel. It is almost as if you already know what path you should take. You just have to listen to that little voice in your head. If I had done what most people did and treated Rusty like a little worthless punk, I would have never had this opportunity. I’m not sure where I would be today. That is a crazy thing for me to admit. If you are constantly improving yourself and your situation, are positive, organized, educationally-thirsty, have a little integrity and can carry a conversation, there aren’t many things you can’t accomplish.Back to the meeting.I met Joe and Joe on February 2, 2009. They rented a 10-15k square foot commercial building with a huge sales floor and 5–6 private offices. It looked like the spitting image of the office of Stratton Oakmont in the movie Wolf of Wall Street. It was just not nearly as nice. I even had raised platform in the front. There were 30–40 sales reps on the phone 10 hours/day, even Saturdays.Joe V was running the show and Joe S was the primary investor.Joe V & S are both full-blooded Italians. They had tempers and accents to boot.I started my team and things were humming along. The money was OK. I was earning between $5-6k/month. It was not a lot of money but I wasn't broke anymore either. Things seemed like they were going great. Finally!About 3 months later, their company got sued and they were forced to dissolve everything. They literally shut the doors down the same day.I was pretty pissed off because I had spent the last three months building my team and getting to know the system. I felt like I finally had something running smooth and my feet felt like they were on the ground again. As I was emptying my desk and frustratedly packing all of my shit in my car, Joe and this guy who worked with Joe, JP, asked me to stay until everyone left. I was planning on going home and working from there until I could find another office space and rebuild my team again. I figured I could be back in action within weeks, so it wasn’t THAT bad.Everyone left and we all walked into the conference room. The conversation went something like this:Joe V: “Chris, we like you and we don't want you to leave. We have some things we want to do and we would love to have someone like you help us.”Me: “What can I do to help you guys?”Joe V: “You know how to make websites like the one you made for your company, right?”Me: “Uhhhh...yeah, kinda.”Joe V: “We want to start a debt settlement company and we are going to need leads for all the salespeople. Have you ever generated leads before?”Me: “Yeah, I've been doing sales and marketing since I was 16. Sales and marketing has been 90% of my experience thus far.”Joe S: “Come back on Monday (it was Friday). I’ll show you what we need you to do. But don’t worry, we want you here and we will pay you for your time no matter what.”Me: “OK.”Hmm.I spent that weekend reading and researching at the library, trying to get better with Joomla. I think I slept maybe 3 hours all weekend. I was also pretty sure that I also had like two meals all weekend. I’m 6′3″ and 205 lbs. right now. At this point in my life, I was 175 lbs. I looked anorexic. I look at pictures from this time and I still shake my head.I had a feeling this was a huge opportunity for me to work with these guys in a position where I would have control of something they would highly value. My gut told me to run with it.If I had never left that slimy ass company and learned how to build websites, using of all things, fucking Joomla, I would have never had this path I’m on generating leads now. It blows my mind.Monday came and the Joe's sat me down and explained what they wanted me to do.I started making what they called 'landing pages'. Landing pages are basically simple one-page websites with a simple goal: get the visitors to fill out the contact form and submit their contact information so that we can contact them and sell them something. After a few days, I made one.I deposited $200 into the Yahoo! pay-per-click account and we were off to the races. We spent $200 and generated 3 leads. Joe needed the lead cost to be under $10, so $66 was a little off.Over the course of two weeks, we spent a lot of money. The leads were just a little too expensive. I couldn't say it was a success yet but we were making progress and that was a good thing. I think we were in the $35 range and as long as we held at least a 7–8% closing ratio, we would have a margin worth the investment. One day I walked into the office and I got a call from this dude who worked at Adknowledge. This guy (his name is actually Guy — ha!) said he had traffic that was cheaper than Google AdWords and Yahoo! Not only that, but the traffic was highly targeted so we would convert more leads. We were only using Google and Yahoo! at that point. He hounded me for two weeks. I was annoyed with the incessant calls, so I took that last call to hear what he had to say. I’ve always respected people with adversity. It is very rare these days.I was impressed with what he had to say, so I gave him the minimum $500 and we tested the traffic. I think they even matched with $500.At the time, our leads were costing us $30-40. The first test we ran, our leads cost us $13 on average. The closing ratios were also better than Google/Yahoo!It blew my mind.It is needless to say that they got every single marketing dollar we had for that next year. At one point after learning about “conversion optimization” from the Dade county public library (Thank you! Sorry I never returned that book), the leads we were generating cost us $8.Three months into this run with Adknowledge, Joe V said to me, "Chris you should sell these leads, if you can generate more."To this day Joe V doesn't know this, but if he hadn't asked me that question I would not have made a million dollars. It's mind boggling to think about.Joe tried helping me sell the leads but we didn’t really get anywhere. Most of the people he knew who wanted them were already running the same kind of operation. Therefore, everyone was shy of buying leads from people who were generating them for themselves.I had to start a separate company to look legitimate. So, I did. The name of the company was suggested by Guy at Adknowledge. I had been kicking around a lot of names. But I felt that Guy’s favorite was the best one, so I went with it.The name he suggested was Lead Bully.About a week later, I went into the office on a Saturday. One of the sales reps said that his landlord wanted to meet with me. Apparently this sales rep, Michael, was bragging about the leads I was generating and told his landlord that they were way better than all the others we were buying. The landlord came in to the office that following week on a Saturday and met with me.I loved working Saturdays. There was no one there to bother me and I could catch up on a lot of work.Alan was his name. He was a really nice guy. He was probably one of the sharpest and coolest older dudes that I have ever met in my life.He asked me a bunch of questions about the leads and other things. That following Monday, he had his CEO, who happened to be his best friend’s son, call me and place his first order. His name was Joe. Go figure — ha ha!He wanted 150 leads to test out. He was currently paying $32 per lead and didn't mind it so I sold them to him at the same price.A total of $4,800 was overnighted to me via FedEx. I had it on Tuesday morning. Now, if you do the math, $32 (price) - $8 (cost) = $24 profit per lead. That is a pretty nice profit margin. $3,600 per week net from one customer is $14,400 per month. There is also my salary of $4k/month. I started doing the math and was getting really excited. That next week I got another check from my new customer. They were my only customer. This time it was for $10k.They closed more business in those 2 weeks from my leads, than they had in the last three months from their other lead providers.Needless to say, I got checks for 3–4 straight months every week. I saved up a lot of money pretty quickly. My customer then called me one day and said that he and his business partner (the CEO's father) wanted to fly in and meet with me.I was super-curious.They arrived in Miami on a Monday and sat down with me in my office. They pitched me on moving to New Jersey where their office was located. They wanted me to work with them on the inside.I remember thinking: Why would I do that? I’m making tons of money now and I’m happy.I kicked this around for about a week. I had two or three dinners with these guys. They even flew in the CEO once and I got to meet him. They were really nice guys. They were so close. The Italians are all about family. They especially stress loyalty and respect. I learned a lot from those guys. It was more than they’ll ever know. They essentially wrote me a blank check and said that they would pay whatever we need to in order for it to happen. They also said that I would be ~25% owner. Two weeks later, I moved to Jersey. We opened the office and hired 5 sales reps and a manager. Things were going great.10-11 months later...The government came in and shut the entire industry down. It was the next low point in my life.I helped build a million-dollar company and at its peak was bringing in more than $200k/month and at the same time I was running my own company and was netting close to $30k/month.AND WALKED AWAY.All of a sudden...$0.I moved to Canada a couple months later (this is a story for another time) and started up Lead Bully again.Three months into it, I landed my first few big accounts.Things just got astronomically better from there. I could go on, but this is the meat and potatoes. Maybe one day, I'll add to this and tell the rest of the story. It's a comeback and love story all in one.I literally rebuilt everything from nothing again. My ex can verify this, but I believe after paying all my debts and traveling expenses I showed up to Canada with ~$600.Building that back up was another journey for another time. More love stories and a two-year-old later, I’m doing even better than before. So, yeah, to answer your question, someone has lost almost all of their money and subsequently re-built their wealth. I did. What did I learn? Well…People say money won't buy you happiness. That's true. But it does buy you a life you could only dream of. Money is important. It is not as important as friends and family, but it is very important. It will enhance who you already are. If you are a douche, you'll be a bigger one. If you are a good person, it will give you the means to be even better. The biggest lessons that I have learned through all this are:• Don't listen to anyone but that voice in your head. For some reason, somehow, you already know what you should be doing with your life. Ask friends and relatives for advice and listen, but just take it at face value. Don't do something just because someone else thinks you should. Live your own life by your own rules.• Self-awareness is everything. (This should be #1)• You can be anything you want. You just have to want it bad enough. You’ll find a way or you’ll find an excuse. Obsess over it. Emotions are so important. Find what makes you feel like you aren’t working but you are making money and start there.• Love everyone. I don’t give a fuck if your ex cheated on you. Love her and forgive her anyway. She is on her own path, don’t judge her.• If you want opportunities, always work harder than the hardest working guy where you work.• Try your hardest to not judge someone, and especially never, ever, treat them differently than everyone else because of something you see. Unless you’re a cop.• With great risks come great rewards, so don't forget what it is you are working towards when times get tough. Things will never work out just as you expected, so when things get bad, don't stress and panic. That literally makes them worse. It's the learning process. Let events happen as they come and focus on what you can do to make things better. Never fret over things that you cannot control.• You cannot do everything by yourself. You need people. Hire slowly and wisely. Fire swiftly.• Never forget the 80/20 rule: 80% of your efforts will yield you 20% of the results and 20% of your efforts will yield 80% of the results. Every day try to focus on doing the 20% and delegate the 80%.• Hire people based on their talents but never overlook character and integrity. Unless you need an engineer or someone with a specific degree, you can teach people relatively anything within weeks. But always start with someone who has good moral character and who is trustworthy.• Once in your life, live somewhere you are unfamiliar.• Automate and outsource your life. This includes anything from researching the best airfares to making dinner reservations. You can hire Personal Assistants in India/Pakistan who cost you $2/hour and can do just about anything for you with just a simple email. Not sure what to get your wife for her birthday? Shoot an email to your PA and ask them to spend an hour or two researching gifts for whatever it is your wife is into. You can have them send you the top-3; or have them compile a database of the top-10 and sort by price. Would you rather spend your evening/lunch/weekend doing this or pay someone $4 for 2 hours of their time to do it for you? I thought so ;-)• Only work for someone else, if you have to. Start your own company. In the words of my second favorite person in the world, Jim Rohn,”Wages can make you a living, profits will make you a fortune.”Thanks for reading. I never told this story before. It felt kind of therapeutic. Hahaha. Please excuse any typos. I wrote this kind of quick.
