PDF Editor FAQ

Who is Rashad Khalifa, how did he become popular, and why do some Muslims hate him?

I found and observed that almost all Muslims hate Dr Rashad Khalifa PhD, and when I searched for why they hate him and how he became popular in a short period, I found the following information in a website and I strongly believe that the following piece of information would be the best answer for two big questions: 1) why they hate him and! 2) how he became popular!!What is your proof; Khalifates' favorite question:One of the favorite questions of Rashad Khalifa; the founder of Deen-e-Khalifa and Khalifates; the followers of Deen-e-Khalifa is; ‘what is your proof to confirm that Quran is from Allah [SWTA]!’Let us verify their question honestly with Quran-Alone so that their intentions would be auto-exposed, Insha Allah. They are intended to tell that; we want some Human Harvested Humbugs, and Man-Made Make-Ups to believe in Almighty’s words instead of simply believe in it!As per their and their Idol-Leader Khalifa’s ideology, believing in what Allah’s words based on His scripture is a blind faith because their soul suggests them to seek something out of Quran [numerology] to believe in it and follow it!Let us verify their expectation [we want some miracle to believe Quran as the word of Allah (SWTA)], in the light of Quran, which may gently tear their masks; the masks of Ibless, Saamri, Rashad Khalifa, and Khalifates!Do we really need miracles?[17:59] And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.”The above verse clearly states that there would be no more miracles come from Allah [SWTA] as He has already recorded ‘the rejection of miracles by the people of the past’ and approved it as a good reason for not sending any more miracles, except reasoning, truths, wise arguments, applying logics and believing and obeying Allah [SWTA] and his messenger [P]!Shall We Ask For Miracles?Asking what is the proof to prove ‘Quran is from Allah [SWTA] is nothing but asking for miracles to believe in the words of Allah [SWTA]! Does Quran promote us to request for miracles? Definitely not, but treat it as a sign of disbelief!Even if you are very closer to Allah [SWTA]!! If you ask for witnessing a miracle then the question of Allah [SWTA] is; do you not believe?! Kindly view the verse below to understand, how Allah [SWTA] questions his messenger-friend Ibrahim [P] when he asks for a proof![2-260] And when Abraham said, My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead, He said: Do you not believe? He said: Yes, but that my heart may be at ease. He said: Then take four birds, then call them to incline to you, then place on every mountain a part of them, then class them, they will come to you flying; and know that Allah is Mighty, Wise.”Here you have to note down an important information and that is Abraham [P] was also given scripture [The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses 87:19], he does not ask for a proof to believe the scripture but when he felt resurrection was unimaginable for his comprehension so he asked for that, before showing how the resurrection happens the very first and the only question from Allah [SWTA] is; do you not believe?!Also kindly note down that it was not shown to his followers, not even for his closest friends [Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibrahim and those with him...60:4] who were assisting Abraham [P] in accomplishing the mission from Allah [SWTA]!Not only for Abraham [P] but even for the disciples of Jesus [a messenger blessed with immense miracles] they were not encouraged to ask for a single miracle for themselves but when they asked for a single miracle see how Allah [SWTA] and his messenger Jesus [P] warn and condemn (respectively), the miracle-seekers?!A Table Laden with Food:The fifth chapter of the Quran, "The Table Laden with Food"–named after this miracle of Jesus. Quran narrates how the disciples of Jesus requested him to ask Allah [SWTA] to send down a table laden with food as a miraculous proof so that they can understand that the words of Jesus from Allah [SWTA] are true:[5:112-114] When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is your Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven? He said: Observe your duty to God, if ye are true believers. They said: We desire to eat of it and our hearts be at rest, and that We may know that you have spoken truth to us, and that We may be witnesses thereof. Jesus, son of Mary, said: 'O God, our Lord, send down for us a Table laden with food out of heaven, that shall be for us a recurring festival, the first and last of us, and a miracle from You. And provide us our sustenance, for You are the best of providers!"[5: 115] Allah said: "I am going to send it down unto you, but if any of you after that disbelieves, then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone among (all) the 'Alamin (Universe)."What is the reply of Jesus in the verse 5:112 in response to his disciples when they asked for a miracle? Reply of Jesus: Observe your duty to God, if ye are true believers! [I.e. do not ask for miracles like disbelievers but continue to be believers by observing your duty to Allah SWTA]!What is the response of Allah [SWTA] to Jesus when finally/eventually he asked a miracle for his disciples? Allah [SWTA] replied / issued a warning statement saying "I am going to send it down unto you, but if any of you after that disbelieves, then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone in the Universe."As we see in 17:59 miracles through messengers are warnings whereas guidance through a messenger is a mercy [...and that We may make him (Jesus) a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us {Allah}... 19:21]! Why miracle through messengers is a warning? I.e. if you disbelieve after seeing a miracle then you would be especially responsible for your denial, and Allah (SWTA) would take care of the deniers! As per Allah [SWTA]’s statement in 5: 115 [Allah replied, "I am sending it (miracle) to you, but if anyone of you turns back to disbelief, I will make him suffer a torment that no one has ever suffered] and...As per Rashad Khalifa’s Proclamation in November 1989 in his news bulletin, Submitters Perspective [i.e. “Divine Proclamation through Gabriel: Like the time of Noah: Only those who stand with God's messenger [Rashad Khalifa] will be saved.” “...The angel Gabriel has conveyed to me God's plan: those who refuse to stand by His Messenger of the Covenant [Rashad Khalifa] will be utterly destroyed. I was told specifically that it will be like the time of Noah: Only those who stand by God's messenger [Rashad Khalifa] will be saved.”]!...if the human harvested humbugs and manmade make-ups i.e. 19-numerological calculations are miracles of the miracles then definitely all who disbelieved in it might be already devastated [i.e. I won’t be writing this book to you]!Surprisingly Rashad Khalifa’s messenger-ship or his 19-miracle has not been mentioned in the Quran anywhere but still Khalifates are able to see them everywhere in the Quran as they have taken Khalifa as their idol!As stated in this book ‘Rashad Khalifa identifies himself as Allah in 36:83 using the footnote. In what way does the verse become relevant to Rashad Khalifa, when it speaks only about Allah [SWTA]? When this question was raised to Lisa Giles, the frontier submitter-one of the closest associate of Rashad Khalifa, kindly see her reply was for the same:[Question-1 by a submitter through E-mail to Lisa dated: Sun, Aug 16, 2009 @ 12:10 AM]Dear Sister Lisa! I'm unable to understand the purpose of the following foot note, could you please explain me the first part of that footnote.Verse: [36:83] Therefore, glory be to the One in whose hand is the sovereignty over all things, and to Him you will be returned.*Foot Note: *36:83 It is noteworthy that the gematrical value of "Rashad" (505), plus the gematrical value of "Khalifa" (725), plus the sura number (36), plus the number of verses (83), produces a total that is a multiple of 19 (505+725+36+83=1349=19x71).[Reply-1 from Lisa to the submitter through E-mail dated: Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 9:53 AM]Peace brother, Forgive me, I have been travelling. I just returned to Tucson. I hope that I have understood your question. It seems that you are asking about the gematrical value. If that is the issue, I have taken the liberty to quote from Dr. Khalifa's Appendix One. Looking at his table you can see that the gematrical value of the letter Alef is 1, and that of Lam is 30, etc.:Inshallah that clarifies the issue for you So if you look up the Arabic letters in "Rashad" the total of their gematrical values is 505 and the total for "Khalifa" is 725.[Question-2 by the same submitter through E-mail to Lisa dated: Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 1:50 AM]No sister! My question was different, when the Verse is taking about GOD, how can the footnote explain some info about the Messenger? I thought that footnote was a mistake, please read that verse carefully and then the footnote, u can see that there is no relation /inter connection between the verse and the footnote![Reply-2 from Lisa to the same submitter through E-mail dated: [Sat, Aug 22, 2009 at 5:21 AM]Salaam Alaikum, brother This is a question that only Dr. Khalifa himself would have been able to answer. Clearly there was a reason that he added the footnote. I could speculate, but that is all that it would be. I am sorry that I cannot give you any more help than that!Allah’s authorized messengers would never inform People to Worship them:Do Lisa and the idolatrous khalifates don’t know the following verses of Quran:[3:79-80] It is not for a human that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and prophet-hood and then he would say to the people, Be servants to me rather than Allah, but [instead, he would say], “Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied.” Nor could he order you to take the angels and prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you had been Muslims?[21:29] And whoever of them should say, “Indeed, I am a god besides Him”- that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.”[4:116] Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray. When Khalifates are able to reject 2-verses from Allah [SWTA]’s Quran, why there are unable to remove a footnote from Khalifa’s translation? It is because they took him as an idol and that idol-messenger advocated them to substitute himself as a (fake) messenger by replacing the authorized messenger [Muhammad (p)] of Allah [SWTA], to substitute the criminal laws ordained by Allah [SWTA] with the lusted opinions of their idol-leader, to change the name of Allah [SWTA]’s only authorised religion, and to completely ignore the whole history of Allah [SWTA]’s religion but to replace it with all fake stories fabricated by their puppet-messenger Rashad Khalifa!Do the miracles increase the faith of the humans? You well knew that the camel of Saleh, which was a great sign but it doesn’t help them to believe and walk righteous. Kindly see the verses below:[17:59]...To the people of Thamud, We sent the she-camel as a visible miracle and they did injustice to it...”[26:157] “they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful”The same way the sign given to Noah i.e. the Ark doesn’t even help his own son to believe and walk righteous. Kindly see the verses below:11:37 "And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration...”54:13-15 “But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre. It floats under our eyes (and care): recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition?” 29:15 “But We saved him and the companions of the Ark, and We made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples!”Similarly those who tried to burn Abraham [P] were not able to believe and to become righteous even after seeing one of the greatest miracles i.e. fire becoming coolness and safety for Abraham. Also that doesn’t even help his father to believe and walk righteous. Kindly see the verse below:[21:69] "Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."Likewise the series of miracles that Allah [SWTA] has shown to the people of Pharaoh in favour of Moses and the children of Israel doesn’t help either the children of Israel or the people of Pharaoh! The children of Israel forget everything and disobeyed to the extent of worshipping the calf-statue, and the people of Pharaoh ignored everything and disobeyed to the extent of getting drowned in to the sea! Kindly see the verse below:[43:48] “of all the miracles which We showed to them the latter ones were greater than the former. We struck them with torment so that perhaps they would return to Us.”To its extreme Quran clearly conveys that the miracles won’t increase the faith a bit! Kindly see the following verses which confirm that Allah [SWTA] has already decided to stop all miracles [Kindly read; 17:59] as they are incapable of bringing long-time changes in the status of human faith on Allah [SWTA]:[13-31] “Even if the Quran would make mountains move, cut the earth into pieces and make the dead able to speak, (the unbelievers still would not believe). All affairs are in the hands of Allah. Do the believers still hope that they will believe? Had Allah wanted He could have guided the whole of mankind to the right path. The unbelievers will always suffer afflictions that result from their deeds or the affliction which occur near their homes, until God's promise of punishing them will be fulfilled. God does not disregard His promise.”[6:109] And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if a miracle came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The miracles are only with Allah." And what will make you perceive that even if a miracle came, they would not believe.”[6:7] And even if We had sent down to you, a written scripture on a page and they touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would say, "This is not but obvious magic."Some people seek after miracles and wonders because they want some confirmation to believe the words of Allah [SWTA]. However, there was a time when enough miracles have been performed by the messengers of Allah [SWTA] and the truth has been already proved, and now it is the time to exercise our faith. Some people seek after signs and wonder because they do not believe the signs and wonders which have already been performed by the messengers of Allah [SWTA] in the past. Others seek after signs and wonders because they seek an occasion to excuse their unbelief. Many people seek signs and wonders because they are curious thrill (lust) seekers; they want to see something sensational, but they have no real desire to know the truth of Allah [SWTA].There are also people, who seek after signs and wonders because they hope to get something for themselves [kindly read the chapter of this book named ‘Rashad Khalifa: Witnesses and Lessons from the History’]. Better than seeking after a new miracle it is always greater taking Allah [SWTA] at His Words.Simple faith is more pleasing to Allah [SWTA] than a reliance on a dazzling sensory experience. Let us view verses from Khalifa’s favourite book-Bible, where Jesus [P] named the miracle-seekers as evil and adulterous generation:[Matthew 12:38, 39] “Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” But he answered them, an evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”[John 20:29] “Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”.They were “adulterous” in the spiritual sense, having lost the true faith in Allah [SWTA] and they would be always ready to follow the man-made make-ups and human harvested humbugs like the one performed by Saamri in the past and the other one performed by Rashad Khalifa in the 20th century!Khalifates claim that the number-nineteen is a miracle from Allah [SWTA] and that protects the whole Quran! But careful study reveals that the number-19 is a trial for people who have disease in their souls. Also keen observation discloses that the Verse about number-19 [Quran 74:30] is a Mutashabihat Verse! How do we confirm that the Verse about 19 is a Mutashabihat Verse? This is very clear to a believer who is well grounded in the knowledge of Qur'an. For example, a believer can notice such parallels from Quran as the following one:In-order to view the parallel comparison and to understand that the number-19 is a trial for people who have disease in their souls and also to understand that the Verse about number-19 [Quran 74:30] is a Mutashabihat Verse, kindly open this link:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lVSIXtaUVoqbCgK0ct5EQAxHvKE-_zqqavMSy80XLkY/edit?hl=en&forcehl=1How do we confirm that the Verse about 19 [Quran 74:30] is a Mutashabihat Verse? The response of people to this verse is a sign for believers: How the mentioning of this number in an intricate (Mutashabihat) verse can divert a people so much into deep studies with the number, to the point of declaring two verses in Holy Quran as void - how a disproportionate amount of time and effort is given into numerical calculations, rather than its message, just as warned in 3:7.Observing them shows a believer Allah's absolute power to lead and mislead people as well as how 3:7 comes to reality. 19 is a number for trial as mentioned in the verse, and this is the very significance of the number 19 in the Qur'an. It has been designed by Allah for this purpose. But as is stated in 3:7, the response of the believers is "We believe in it: it is all from our Lord".How are believers "increased in faith"?This is also very clear to a believer who is well grounded in the knowledge of Qur'an. For example, a believer can notice such parallels from Quran as the one given below, which aids us to view the parallel comparison and to understand, what kind of verses really helps to increase the faith of believers on the other hand that causes the hypocrites nothing but destruction. In-order to view this parallel comparison, kindly click the following link:How are believers increased in faith7.pdfKindly see the verses below[8:2]The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'an) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone).[39-45] And when Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter shrink, and when those besides Him are mentioned, lo! they are joyful. Most unfortunately when Rahsad Khalifa is mentioned they [KHALIFATES] are joyful, and when numerology calculations [number-nineteen based numerology] are presented they pretend that their faith is getting increased, and they trust in Rashad Khalifa’s hadiths 100%, but they proclaim ‘GOD ALONE, QURAN ALONE’, to deceive the humanity and themselves!Once again they have taken their religious leader and scholar Rashad Khalifa as their lord as he has himself proclaimed in the footnote of the verse 36:83 in his Quran translation called ‘Final Testament’!Now read the following verse the truth may be well exposed:[9:31] “They (unconditionally) obeyed the rabbis and the monks and worshipped the Messiah, son of Mary, as they should have obeyed God. They were commanded to worship no one besides God who is the only God and who is too exalted to be considered equal to any idols.”Voluntary proofs from Allah [SWTA] confirm the origin of Quran!Though Allah [SWTA] and his true messengers dislikes people who depend on miracles, rely on proofs than the words of Allah [SWTA], keep seeking for new sign even-though it doesn’t help the previous generations to become believers and walk righteous. Most Muslims are aware that Quran contains many Miracles as it is from Allah [SWTA] but his faith does not depend on that. In fact Allah never says that believe in me because I show these miracles, etc. Still Allah [SWTA] ‘the most generous above all’ promised us that he has decided to show the proofs not based on the demands of the humans but it would be in the ways that he decided already as explained in the following verse:[41:53] We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and within themselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord witness over all things?”Even-though Allah [SWTA] questioned us “Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord witness over all things?” in 41:53, but the response of Khalifates is; still we need our puppet messenger Rashad Khalifa to witness everything with his 19-numerology calculations! Now let us view few of the proofs from Allah [SWTA] as elaborated in 41:53:1) The people of lot and the city which was turned upside down In relation to this subject, based on his archaeological and geological researches, the German researcher Werner Keller noted that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were in fact located in the Siddim Valley which was the region at the furthers and lowest end of the Lake of Lot, and that there were once big and widely inhabited sites in those regions. The most interesting structural characteristic of the Lake of Lot is an ‘evidence’ showing how the disaster incidence recounted in the Qur’an took place. But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. And the (cities were) right on the high-road. (15: 73-76)But the rest We destroyed utterly. We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! : Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. (26: 172-175)Dear my siblings in faith [Islam] and birth [children of Adam [P], kindly follow the link and check the signs, proofs, tokens left by your Lord with the destruction of the people of Lot [P]:http://www.islamicity.com/science/quranandscience/destruction/GeneratedFilesNoFrame/ThePeopleofLutandTheCitywhichwasTurnedUpsideDown.htm2) The Ark of Noah FOUND! WHERE QURAN STATES EXACTLY!!Salih Bayraktutan, head of geology at Turkey's Ataturk University, estimates the age of the 'vessel' at more than 100,000 years. "It is a man-made structure and for sure it is Noah's Ark." The site is directly below the mountain of Al Judi, named in the Koran as the Ark's resting place.54:13-15 “But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre. It floats under our eyes (and care): recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition?”29:15 “But We saved him and the companions of the Ark, and We made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples!”Dear my siblings in faith [Islam] and birth [children of Adam [P], kindly follow the links and check the signs, proofs, tokens left by your Lord with the Ark of Noah [P]:https://youtu.be/rIzyxDr3j44https://islamicintrospection.wordpress.com/2013/12/21/this-importance-of-noahs-prophet-nuh-as-ark-allah-islam-muslim-prophetmuhammadpbuh/3) The Body of Pharaoh Ramses’ II, has been found![10:92] “We will save your body on this day so that you may become evidence (of Our existence) for the coming generations and surely majority of the people are heedless to our proofs."Dear my siblings in faith [Islam] and birth [children of Adam [P], kindly follow the link and check the signs, proofs, tokens left by your Lord with the body of Pharaoh:http://www.falaah.co.uk/basic-knowledge/quran-and-tafsir/184-the-dead-body-of-pharaoh4) The Rock stricken by Moses [P] for water for his people found![2:60] And (remember) when Musa (Moses) asked for water for his people, We said: Strike the stone with your stick. Then twelve springs gushed forth there from. Each (group of) people knew its own place for water. "Eat and drink of that which Allah has provided and do not act corruptly, making mischief on the earth."[2-74] “Then your hearts hardened after that, so that they were like rocks, rather worse in hardness. And surely there are some rocks from which streams burst forth; and there are some of them which split asunder so water flows from them; and there are some of them which fall down for the fear of Allah. And Allah is not heedless of what you do.Dear my siblings in faith [Islam] and birth [children of Adam [P], kindly follow the links and check the signs, proofs, tokens left by your Lord with the Rock stricken by Moses [P] for water for his people:http://splitrockresearch.org/content/100/Field_Reports/The_Split_RockQuran and Modern ScienceAllah SWT in the Quran teaches us about the fundamentals of Science, from the universe to the uterus, if we look closely the Quran is not only a guidance for all, but also a book that hints about the modern Science!Quran on embryology:1. When a woman is pregnant, the zygote (not quite a baby yet) clings to the uterus of the mother in order to take nourishment from the mother’s blood. The zygote is no larger than that of 2 thumbs; this formation, which has been discovered by modern embryology, was miraculously stated in the Qur’an 14 centuries ago with the word “alaq”, which means “a thing that clings to some place” and is used to describe leeches that cling to a body to suck blood.[96:1-2] Recite in the name of your Lord who created. He created man from a clinging substance. The zygote does exactly that, it leeches off the mother’s uterus and sucks blood to gain what it needs. Subhanallah, the Quran was revealed 14 centuries ago, how could a man during that era know what we know now through the modern embryology studies? Indeed Allah is lord of the worlds, the All knowing, the Almighty.Quran on oceanography:2. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea come together yet they do not mix. 1400 years ago Allah [SWTA] sent down the above verse to Muhammad [P], and only very recently have oceanographers discovered this. The seas do not mix due to the physical force called “surface tension”.“He has let loose the two seas, converging together, with a barrier between them they do not break through.” (The Qur’an, 55:19-20)It is caused by the difference in the density of their waters’ and surface tension prevents them from mingling with one another, just as if a thin wall were between them. The interesting side to this is that during a period when people had no knowledge of physics, surface tension, or oceanography; this was revealed in the Qur’an. Alhamdullilah!Quran on Formation of Clouds and Rain3. Allah [SWTA] says in Quran:“And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or take heed. [7:57]“And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores (i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like) [15:22]Modern science has affirmed the scientific points mentioned in this verse of the Quran. The winds carry water particles which are rich in salt up into the atmosphere; these particles which are called 'aerosols' function as water traps and form cloud drops by collecting around the water vapour themselves. The clouds are formed from water vapour that condenses around the salt crystals or dust particles in the air. Because the water droplets in these clouds are very small (with a diameter between 0.01 and 0.02 mm), the clouds are suspended in the air, and spread across the sky. Thus, the sky is covered in clouds. The water particles that surround salt crystals and dust particles thicken and form raindrops, so drops that become heavier than the air leave the clouds and start to fall to the ground as rain. Allah says:“See you not that Allah drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them; and He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail), and strikes therewith whom He wills, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightening nearly blinds the sight.” [24:43]Rain clouds are formed and shaped according to definite systems and stages. The formation stages of cumulonimbus -a type of rain cloud- are:(A) 1st Stage (b) 2nd Stage (c) 3rd Stage1st stage: Being driven along: Clouds are carried along, that is, they are driven along, by the wind2nd stage: Joining: Then, small clouds (cumulus clouds) driven along by the wind join together, forming a larger cloud.3rd stage: Stacking: When the small clouds join together, updrafts within the larger cloud increase. The updrafts near the centre of the cloud are stronger than those near the edges. These updrafts cause the cloud body to grow vertically, so the cloud is stacked up. This vertical growth causes the cloud body to stretch into cooler regions of the atmosphere, where drops of water and hail formulate and begin to grow larger and larger. When these drops of water and hail become too heavy for the updrafts to support them, they begin to fall from the cloud as rain, hail, etc.A cloud becomes electrified as hail falls through a region in the cloud of super-cooled droplets and ice crystals. As liquid droplets collide with a hailstone, they freeze on contact and release latent heat. This keeps the surface of the hailstone warmer than that of the surrounding ice crystals.Model for forked lighting:(A) The negative charge concentrated at the bottom of the cloud becomes large enough to overcome the air's resistance and develops a «leader» pointing towards the ground . (B) An upward flow of positive charges from the ground concentrates elevated points (C) The downward flow of negative charges meets the upward flow of positive charges and a strong electric current the upward flow of positive charges and a strong electric current known as return stroke carries the positive charges into the cloud. When the hailstone comes in contact with an ice crystal, an important phenomenon occurs: electrons flow from the colder object toward the warmer object. Hence, the hailstone becomes negatively charged. The same effect occurs when super-cooled droplets come in contact with a hailstone and tiny splinters of positively charged ice break off. These lighter positively charged particles are then carried to the upper part of the cloud by updrafts. The hail, falls towards the bottom of the cloud, thus the lower part of the cloud becomes negatively charged. These negative charges are then discharged as lightning. We conclude from this that hail is the major factor in producing lightning. Quran speaks about formation of clouds and the process of raining before 1400 years where there were no systematic study of Meteorology and Climatology existed!Allah [SWTA] says in Quran:“And thunder glorifies and praises Him, and so do the angels because of His Awe. He sends the thunderbolts, and therewith He strikes whom He wills, yet they (disbelievers) dispute about Allah. And He is Mighty in strength and Severe in punishment. [13:13]There are many more like the above where Allah [SWTA] talks of modern Science however for one whose mind is revering the Al-Mighty Creator for them even these simple samples matters a lot; even-though his faith is not based on these factors. There may be thousands of websites and millions of blogs available online explaining the scientific and historical miracles of the Quran when you check with Google search engine! Kindly follow the links given below which provides you plenty of articles about the scientific and historic miracles of the Quran:http://www.miraclesofthequran.com/scientific_index.htmlhttp://www.miraclesofthequran.com/historical_index.htmlFinally I register here a strong suggestion and that is even-though a lot of mathematical perspectives are available in the Quran but many try to use it for their personal agenda and try to deviate and divert the true believers from the essence of the Quran-its meanings and commands, therefore I’m bringing to your kind notice about two blogs, which would break the fakes in the form of numerology cakes even-though they call it as miraculous bakes:1) http://alquranonlysubmission.blogspot.in/2015/12/the-qurans-numerical-miracle-by-dr.html2) http://alquranalonesubmission.blogspot.in/2016/01/edip-yuksel-gently-exposed.htmlDespite the clarity of the signs, Proofs, tokens many people do not use their reason, vision and hearing to reflect on these signs in order to arrive at the truth. The truth is apparent but many people stubbornly deny it, either out of envy or out of fear for their worldly status, or for other reasons. Thus as Allah [SWTA] describes them they are the heedless ones:[7:179] “We have destined many men and jinn for hell. They have hearts but do not understand, and they have eyes but do not see and they have ears but do not hear. They are worse than lost cattle. These are the heedless ones.”What is your proof; Khalifate's favourite question

It centers around the life and teachings of a 1st century Jewish sage known as Jesus Christ (G.A. ישוע משיחה - yešuaʿ məšíḥa). The faith traces its beginning to the miraculous birth, adult ministry, death and resurrection of it's central figure. It is believed that Jesus played the role of the Passover lamb as the final atonement for the sins of mankind and that he rose from the dead and now reigns as King. We believe that after the 7 seals of Revelation have been broken He will return to resurrect the dead and thereby judge the whole world.Others have already gone over the basics of the Christian faith in their answers, so in mine I plan to cover the historical and cultural basis. More of the “why” as opposed to the “what”. My answer will provide a historiographical approach to this question which will go over aspects that most people have missed. I want to express Christianity as a sect of Judaism not a modern western religion. As followers of Jesus, we do not believe we are able to earn God’s forgiveness—He provides salvation and forgiveness graciously and freely (Ephesians 2:8–9). Our sin always requires payment, and this is graphically paralleled by the Jewish holiday known as Yom Kippur, lit. “the Day of Atonement.” There are ten days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement according to the holy days calendar outlined in Leviticus 23:23–27. In Jewish tradition, these ten days are called the Ten Days of Repentance. The ancient sages taught that the Jewish people have ten days to make things right with God and between oneself and one's fellow Jew. The Scriptures depict the Levitical priests offering blood sacrifices at the Temple altar for sinful humanity throughout the centuries until the Temple was destroyed. As Moses explained, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement” (Leviticus 17:11). Yet, we know that these offerings pointed to Jesus, the perfect sacrifice for our sins. As the author of Hebrews wrote, “He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” (Hebrew 9:26). This atonement, achieved through the Messiah’s once-for-all death, was effective for all sins, for all time, and for all people. Unfortunately, many modern-day Orthodox Jews reject this idea as a “pagan” Christian invention (btwy, see my answer on Isaiah 53). Today most Israelis are generally unfamiliar with the Temple’s sacrificial system, which ended when the Romans destroyed this magnificent house of worship in AD 7.0.Being a Christian requires that you follow God's commandments, i.e. to not lie, murder, steal, or cheat. As a Christian one must uphold justice, to treat foreigners with respect, take care of one's family, and to love your neighbor as yourself even if they count you as an enemy. We are to strive to be just and understanding in all disputes. We must forgive those who seek forgiveness. And most importantly we are to take up our cross (figuratively) and follow the Christ. Adherents go through a process of repentance and sanctification, which helps with building trust and moral character. It must also be pointed out that we don't do good because we fear going to hell, that's not how it works. We do good out of gratitude for what God has already done for us. We serve HaShem with loyalty and honor and we trust that he has a place saved for us. If we fall off the right path then we repent, get back up, and start anew. Every day is a fresh start. It's never too late to ask for forgiveness. God's not going to turn away those who truly want to turn their life around. Christianity teaches that the best thing to do when you know you've done something wrong and yet you did it anyway is to be honest and upfront about it and try your best to make amends. Be the person who has nothing to hide. Apologise to those who've been hurt and make a pact with God to never do it again. And make sure you mean it.Etymology of ChristianityThe word Christianity means “follower of Christ” and is derived from the biblical Greek term Χριστιανός|ḳristianós|, which is derived from the original Greek word for “Christ” that is used throughout the New Testament, that being Χριστός|ḳristós|. The word Christian denotes a sense of servitude or ownership. However, despite the popular opinion Christ is not Jesus' surname, as people didn't typically have surnames back then. It was customary for a male to be referred to either by his father's name (regardless of whether or not he was adopted) or by his hometown. For example, in the original Galilean Aramaic he would've either been called Jesus son of Joseph, i.e. ישוע בר יוסף|yešuaʿ bar yôsef|, or Jesus the Nazarene, i.e. ישוע נצרייא|yešuaʿ naṣərayya|. In fact, we find both of these in the Gospels. Christ is actually a title which literally means “Messiah” or “Anointed One” which is irrevocably tied to Jewish traditions and further proves that Christianity at it's core is founded upon Second Temple era Messianism, speaking of which I've fully discussed this in another answer:Damien Cowl's answer to Is 'Christ' Jesus' last name? What does it mean?So to be a Christian literally means to be a follower of Messiah! A study of antiquity reveals that there is a general consensus among the vast majority of scholars and historians that Early Christianity began as a revolutionary sect of Judaism, emerging out of the 1st century Messianic Jesus movement.Messianism at it's core revolves around the belief that God would eventually win victory against the forces of darkness and evil that have troubled the world since the exile of humankind from Gan Eden. The Prophets called the people to return to HaShem, abandoning the wicked and unrighteous ways that inevitably led to doom and destruction. The prophets warn the people that devastation is coming, but they also console the people, recalling that God is faithful and that God will restore kingship (primarily God as king), and this will reestablish harmony. The expectation then was more of a “messianic” era than of a “messiah” figure, although many Biblical authors attached the coming of this kingdom to the coming of a Davidic king. After being conquered a number of times by the Assyrians in 722 B.C.E and the Babylonians in 587 B.C.E, the Prophets of Israel gained Revelations of a Messiah, one who would come and restore Israel. There are many prophesies regarding this promised saviour, it being said that God would designate a descendant of David, the “Anointed One.” Anointing is the ritual act of pouring aromatic oil over a person's head or entire body. In the ancient Israelite tradition it was customary for a King to undergo a symbolic anointing of purified olive oil mixed with four fragrant spices: pure myrrh, sweet cinnamon, kaneh bosm, and cassia. The Destruction of Solomon's TempleThe 2nd Temple During The Herodian EraVirtual New TestamentThe LDS Motion Picture Studio, in collaboration with BYU Virtual Scriptures Group, built the Virtual New Testament app. This app is provided by Brigham Young University at no cost, with no advertisements, and no in-app purchases. It is the first established church in Christendom which gathered converted Jews and Gentiles in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and second church after that of Jerusalem. According to ecclesiastical history and tradition, St. Peter the Apostle established a bishopric in Antioch and became its first bishop and was succeeded by Evodius for the converted Jews and St. Ignatius the Illuminator for the converted Gentiles. After the martyrdom of St. Peter in Rome, was succeeded by St. Evodius and St. Ignatius respectively. Likewise, St. Peter was succeeded by a line of distinguished Patriarchs, most of whom amazed the world with their sanctity, wonderful writings and other accomplishments in many fields. The See of Antioch then becomes the first, the oldest, and the most famous Church in Christianity. It was the foundation of the Christianity in the East and mother of the gentile churches and the headquarters of Christianity in Asia. It’s proud to be the origin of the word Christian; it was in Antioch, after all, that the followers of Jesus Christ were called Christians as we are told in the New Testament, “The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch .” (Acts 11:26). In the mid of the 5th century, the Bishop of Antioch, and his counterparts in Alexandria, Byzantium and Rome, would be called patriarchs. The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch used to be known by his own name; however, since 1293 the patriarchs of Antioch adopted the name Ignatius, after the Illuminator. The See of Antioch continues to flourish till our day, with His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Ephram II Karim, being the 122nd in the line of legitimate patriarchs . The patriarchate was forced to move from Antioch in ca. A.D. 518, after a period of turbulent history, to various locations in the Near East until it settled in the monastery Dayro d-Mor Hananya (also known as Kurkmo Dayro, Deir az-Za'faran--Syriac and Arabic respectively for Saffron Monastery) in Mardin, Turkey, during the 13th century. After another period of heinous violence during and after World War I, which took the lives of a quarter million Syriac Orthodox faithful, the patriarchate was transferred to Homs, Syria, in 1933, and later to Damascus in 1959. The Syriac Orthodox Church is quite unique for many reasons. Firstly, it presents a form of Christianity, which is Semitichttps://www.soc-wus.org/ourchurch/history.htmSt. Thomas & the Native Judeo-Dravidian Malankara Nasrani Church – A Brief Overview -Introduction The unknown history of the ancient Nasrani Church of Malankara is worthy of note. For a certainty, the Malankara-Malabar Church definitely had a Pre-Nestorian, Pre-Latin and Pre-Syriac origin, existence and history. An ancient community of indigenous Christians (the Judeo -Dravidian Nasrani Church) existed in Malankara. This paper does not provide in-depth details or historical…https://occidentalworld.com/st-thomas-the-native-judeo-dravidian-malankara-nasrani-church-a-brief-overview/Chosen people were often anointed in public ceremonies, such as when Moses convened the congregation of Israelites to witness the anointing of Aaron as the High Priest, so that the community would know that he was specifically chosen by God to be set apart for His service. Thus it was believed that the Messiah would come not only as a prophet like Moses, but also as a King of the line of David. Jesus often preached about the Kingdom of God. Well, a kingdom needs a King, right? And who else could be more fit to rule David's throne than the Messiah? This is why Jesus is called 'The Christ', because he is our anointed King, mighty with the rod of Aaron and through Him the Law is fulfilled, for the countless ages to come. At his name every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that he is the LORD (Philippians 2:10-11, Romans 14:11, Isaiah 45:23). This is where the idea of Jesus being the “King of the Jews” comes from.It is certain that Jesus was, at some stage, called the Messiah. The statement of the Gospels is confirmed by the 1st century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who writes:“At this time there appeared Jesus, a wise man. For he was a doer of startling deeds, a teacher of the people who receive the truth with pleasure. And he gained a following both among many Jews and among many of Greek origin. And when Pilate, because of an accusation made by the leading men among us, condemned him to the cross, those who had loved him previously did not cease to do so. And up until this very day the tribe of Christians, named after him, has not died out.”—Antiquities of the Jews 18.63-64.It should be stressed that this is a reconstruction of Josephus' words; our manuscripts are full of interpolations. The historical fact that Jesus was called Messiah, lies hidden in the words "the tribe of Christians, named after him” (Antiquities, 20.200). Throughout his writings Josephus often and frequently uses the Χριστός|ḳristós| to translate Messiah. We can clearly see evidence from the Gospels themselves which point directly towards Jesus being the Messiah:Pontius Pilate condemned Jesus to the cross as king of the Jews (multiple attestation; embarrassment). The word "king", which may be a translation of the messianic title Nasi, can be used as a synonym for "Messiah", as we can observe in the quote from Matthew above.Too many messianic titles are applied to Jesus to be incidental. In several contexts, he is called son of David, son of man, and king.Jesus was (in a way) anointed at Bethany.Elements of Jesus behavior are in line with what was expected from the Messiah: he explained the Law of Moses (multiple attestation) and was able to cast out demons (multiple attestation).Jesus wanted to restore Israel - the Messiah's core activity. He did not want his disciples to go to the pagans, but urged them to look "for the lost sheep of the house of Israel". This is in marked contrast with Early Christian missionary activity among gentiles after the resurrection.Jesus regarded his own ministry as the inauguration of the "kingdom of God" (several stories, all attested in several sources; to a certain extent, these stories are embarrassing, because God did not intervene in human history).Jesus wanted to purify the Temple (multiple attestation; embarrassment), which the Messiah was expected to do. The two most important stories are Jesus' triumphal entry in Jerusalem and his attempt to cleanse the sanctuary. It is remarkable that none of these messianic elements belongs to the "military tradition". The question "Messiah - in what sense?" can only be answered in the same way as Josephus did: Jesus was "a doer of startling deeds, a teacher of the people who receive the truth with pleasure", someone who strove after a spiritual restoration of Israel. But these ideas about a national leader who would liberate the Jews from the Roman occupation can never have been far from the minds of Jesus' contemporaries, and we know that Pontius Pilate was sufficiently alarmed. When we read the early accounts about Jesus, we notice that his followers did in fact identify him as the Messiah, but that Jesus consistently responds ambivalently (Mark 8:27-30; John 7:26-31). This can be a literary device, but it can also be that there were elements in the fashionable messianologies that Jesus did not like. However, there are other instances where he outright proclaims to be the messiah. For example, in John’s Gospel the Samaritan woman at the well is the first person to whom Jesus openly reveals himself as Messiah. The pious Jewish leader, Nicodemus, did not hear the words that Jesus tells this foreign woman when she states her belief in the coming Messiah: “I am he, the one who is speaking to you” (John 4:26). Likewise, in Matthew 26:63-64, at the Sanhedrin Trial the High Priest Caiaphas directly confronted Jesus, saying to Him, “I charge You under oath by the living God, tell us if You are the Messiah Son of God. To this Jesus responded: “It is as you have said,” thus affirming under oath that He is the Anointed One sent by God. In Matthew 16:15-17, Jesus also blessed Simon Kepha for recognizing that He is the Messiah and acknowledged that it was God alone who gave that revelation. The Messiah is basically King, and this is why Jesus always preached about the Kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is referenced often in the gospels (e.g., Mark 1:15; 10:15; 15:43; Luke 17:20) and other places in the New Testament (e.g., Acts 28:31; Romans 14:17; 1 Corinthians 15:50). The kingdom of God is synonymous with the kingdom of heaven. The concept of the kingdom of God takes on various shades of meaning in different passages of Scripture. The basic meaning of the word kingdom in the Bible is God’s reign, not referring to a physical realm or people. The kingdom creates a realm, the kingdom creates a people, but the kingdom of God is not synonymous with its realm or its people. For example, consider Psalms 103:19: “The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.” You can hear the basic meaning of the word kingdom as rule. It doesn’t mean that his kingdom rules over his realm; it means that God’s reign or rule governs all things. He sits as king on his throne of the universe, and his kingly rule—his kingdom and his reign—governs all things. The basic meaning of the word kingdom in the Bible is God’s kingly rule, i.e. his reign, his action, his lordship, his sovereign governance. Since Jesus is viewed as an avatar or manifestation of God this makes him the sovereign ruler over all creation. AOC Network explains the hidden secrets of Jesus' Kingdom:The Kingdom of GodJesus often spoke about his Kingdom. We explore it here.https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHg8h5sXU1CMPolTHMXHZF0kGLwy2-smoSince God’s purpose for the world is to save a people for himself and renew the world for that people, his kingly rule implies a saving and a redeeming activity on their behalf. This is why the coming of the kingdom in the New Testament is called the Besorah, i.e. gospel/“good news”.In and through Jesus, God, the king, is coming in a way—a new way—into the world to establish his saving rule. First, in the hearts of his people and in their relationships by triumphing over sin, Satan, and death. Then by the exercise of his reign, gathering a people for himself in congregations that live as citizens of a new allegiance of the kingdom — not of this world. Then Christ comes a second time and completes the reign by establishing a new heavens and a new earth. The picture you get in the Gospels as Jesus unfolds the teachings of the kingdom is that it is both present and it is still future. In fact, this is what he means when he says that the mystery of the kingdom is here, God's presence without consummation. This will be the new Eden, a world without pain or suffering.𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗻The Concept of SIN From a Hebrew Perspective - ONE FOR ISRAEL MinistryThe condition of sin is like a swamp - the more we try to fight it ourselves, the deeper we sink. We need someone from the outside to rescue us!https://www.oneforisrael.org/bible-based-teaching-from-israel/concept-sin-hebrew-perspective/When we think of “sin,” we might imagine an abstract concept that affects the sinner psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. While sin can impact us in these ways, in Hebrew thought, sin is a much more concrete thing. According to the ancient Israelites, sin is an actual, physical weight—a heavy burden that the sinner must carry. The idea of sin as a burden to bear appears first when Cain murders Abel. After committing this crime against his brother, “Cain said to the Lord, ‘My sin (עון) is too great (גדול) to carry (נשא)” (Gen 4:13). Sin has manifest itself as a heavy weight upon Cain’s shoulders, and since the murder of another human being is among the gravest of all sins because we are made in God’s image (Gen 9:6), Cain complains that the sin that has attached itself to his back is too big and weighty for him to bear. The understanding of sin as a burden makes sense of Israel’s sacrificial ritual on the Day of Atonement: “Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities (עונות; avonot) of Israel… putting them on the head of the live goat…. The goat shall carry (נשא; nasa) on itself all their iniquities (עונות; avonot) to a barren region” (Lev 16:21-22). The goat takes Israel’s sins upon itself and physically carries those sins away from the people. This method of removing sin by bearing it away foreshadows Yeshua bearing our sins on the cross: “He himself bore our sins on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” (1 Pet 2:24).In Matthew 7:24-27 we read a parable:“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”Sin is like a "glitch" in the software of our minds and bodies. We are programed for a certain path, a certain purpose. But the God also gave us a degree of free will. We can chose to go against his design, but this will result in a glitch which could potentially grow into a virus that could threaten to destroy the simulation…unless it is checked. It's a sickness, and it goes much deeper than just breaking a set of rules. No, sin lies upon an instability. Not being grounded properly, or building one’s identity on what's not made to last.Funny enough, this reminds me a lot of the book of Ecclesiaties, where the author exclaims:“Meaningless! Meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 1:1)Why? Because the Hebrew word translated to ‘meaningless’ is actually הֶבֶל|hēḇēl|which is better understood as enigma, paradoxical, frustration, absurdity or in my definition a glitch. Why glitch? Because if you’ve ever played a video game or regularly use technology then you know how frustrating and even at times absurd glitches can be. You can save your work, press the right buttons, have the best setup but everything at some point fails, works slowly and glitches out. One way you could read this verse then is:“Glitches! Glitches! Everything in life has some kind of glitch!”Life it seems are full of these little glitches in the system of life. It doesn’t matter if you input the right commands, do the right things and think the right thoughts the glitch can always set you back and there’s nothing you can do about it. Life isn’t fair, people suffer that don’t deserve it, and those that do deserve suffering never seem to get their just desserts. You can pour your heart and soul into a job and get fired tomorrow. You can buy roses and lavish love upon your partner and be cheated on. On the flipside, you can lie cheat and steal and get everything you ever wanted. Life is indeed glitchy. The Bible calls this glitch sin, and sin is like a virus program that runs through this program, eating away at everything it can get to. One might also say that sin is like a bloodborne pathogen that hijacks the immune system and infects every part of the body. This explains the expulsion from Eden. You see, Adam was infected, so God had to quarantine him. In fact, humanity is still in exile from Eden, we are in quarantine to prevent the spread of the distorting glitchy effects of the sin virus.John the Baptist commands a beholding of the sin-taking-away Lamb. What do we see in this beholding? How exactly does Jesus take away our sin? There are 6 steps to this process.Messiah condemns sin: Jesus puts a curse on sin. He marks its forehead. Romans 8:3 – “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.” Jesus says to sin in no uncertain terms, “Sin, you’re going to die.”Messiah carries it: Like the true and better scapegoat, Jesus becomes our sin-bearer. 1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”Messiah cancels it: He closes out the account. (Even better, he opens a new one, where we’re always in the black, having been credited with his perfect righteousness.) 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 – “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful” That word resentful is more directly “to count up wrongdoing,” which is why some translations of this text say that “Love keeps no record of wrongs.” Colossians 2:13-14 – “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”Messiah crucufg crucifies it: 1 Peter 3:18 – “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.” At the cross, Jesus dies and takes our sin with him. Only the sin stays dead.Messiah casts it away: Jesus takes the corpse and chucks it into the void. Micah 7:19 – “He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” Psalm 103:12 – “as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”Messiah forgets your sin: Jesus is omniscient. He is not forgetful. But he wills to un-remember our sin. Jeremiah 31:34 – “And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” Hebrews 8:12 – “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” Hebrews 10:17 – “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” Astonishing. We bring our sin to him, repentant and in faithful confession, and he says, “What’re you talking about?” This is how Jesus forgives sin: He condemns it, carries it, cancels it, kills it, casts it, and clean forgets it. If we’ll confess it. 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”There are different lenses through which to see Jesus. I suppose there is a Florence Jesus—the pale, gentle, Caucasian Jesus of the Italian Renaissance paintings, with a scraggly blond beard and two fingers raised in blessing. There’s the Managua Jesus, the peasant revolutionary. There’s the Jesus of the American slaves, the suffering Christ bearing the burden of the oppressed. There’s the Oxford Jesus, the strong, elegant, protective Aslan for those who came to faith through C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Anglophilia. And then there’s the Messianic Jesus. This is the lens that sees Jesus as a Jewish spiritual leader. This is the lens that tries to see through two thousand years of Christian anti-Semitism; that tries to see through two thousand years in which Jews and Christians have defined themselves against one another, magnifying their differences. This is the lens that tries to see Jesus in his original Jewish context, that tries to put his Israelite and Jewish experience in the foreground, and not in the background. The starting point of the Messianic view of Jesus is the fact that is everywhere acknowledged but rarely given sufficient weight. Jesus was Jewish. He presumably had the skin colour of modern Sephardic Jews. He wore tzitzit, or fringes, that modern Orthodox Jews wear and donned the phylacteries that Jewish men still put on. For textual evidence see:The Fringe of His Garment - Israel Bible WeeklyMany Bible readers have figured out that she did not simply touch Yeshua’s clothes, she touched the “hem”, “edge”, "fringe" or “corner” of his garment.https://weekly.israelbiblecenter.com/the-fringe-of-his-garment/?via=0542e07&utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=EMAIL_ActiveCampaign_The_Fringe_of_His_Garment_2021-02-27#0542e07Did Yeshua (Jesus) Wear Tzitzit, the Traditional Jewish Fringes? | Messianic BibleBecause Orthodox Jewish men today continue the ancient custom of wearing fringes on their garments, many wonder if Yeshua (Jesus) also wore fringes.https://free.messianicbible.com/feature/did-yeshua-jesus-wear-tzitzit-the-traditional-jewish-fringes/How did Jesus dress?I was recently asked how I came up with the look of Jesus in my pictures. The question is fair since I chose to differ radically from the "long-haired Caucasian in a white robe"cliché … Instead, I tried to come up with a Jesus who would look much more like the 1st century woodworker from the Near East that he was.https://www.thereignofgod.com/2018/02/27/jesus-christ-look-clothing/He and his disciples kept kosher. He argued with other Jews but within the context of Judaism. In Matthew he tells his disciples not to bother evangelizing among the Samarians and the gentiles. His ministry begins with lost sheep within the house of Israel itself, before it broadens to contain all the world. Rabbi Leo Baeck, who led German Jews during the horrors of the Holocaust, put it best:“We behold a man who is Jewish in every feature and trait of his character, manifesting in every particular what is pure and good in Judaism. This man could have developed as he came to be only on the soil of Judaism, and only on this soil, too, could he find disciples and followers as they were. Here alone in this Jewish sphere, in this Jewish atmosphere . . . could this man live his life and meet his death—a Jew among Jews.”To be a Jew in Jesus’s day was not to embrace a “religion” or to practice a “faith.” They didn’t have these concepts yet because they did not yet have the concept of secularism. Judaism was an enveloping lifepath, total worldview, a covenantal relationship, a way of living out and searching for truth. It starts with the claim that of all the many peoples of this earth, God had chosen this one scraggly little band on the eastern edge of the Judean hill country to be his people and the recipient of his covenant. The Jews, two thousand years ago, had a sense that Israel stood out from all the other nations and lived out its own unique destiny. They saw relations between nations not just as the normal jostling of peoples but as the running tally of divine judgment: Are we favoured or are we punished? Is the covenant betrayed or fulfilled? It was believed that God shaped history to teach humanity hard lessons. It appears that Jesus was a mysterious figure. He was widely known before the spread of Christianity as a wandering Jewish sage or "teacher", apocalyptic preacher, as well as a healer, and miracle worker, who had a following of more than 500 people. In Jewish tradition, the Sages, referred to in Hebrew as חָכְמִים|ḥāḵəmîm|, meaning “wise/learned ones,” are held in very high esteem. Term sage is applied in mainstream Judaism to indicate a wise or skillful man; it often refers to someone who is a great Torah scholar. It can also be used to refer to any cultured and learned person, even a Gentile. Although in Jewish tradition the sages always refer to wise teachers of the Scriptures.Jesus had a very characteristic way of preaching the Kingdom of God. His teaching style was somewhat unique but at the same time it correlates very well with Second Temple Jewish imagery and ideas.Fully one-third of Jesus’ words in the Synoptic Gospels occur in parables—knowing the parables in their original Jewish context is essential for fully understanding the person of Yeshua. While parables have timeless messages, later reinterpretations by western Gentile readers throughout the centuries have distorted the original meanings and undermined the essence of what Jesus intended. Examining the parables illustrates the parallels between the rabbinic and Gospel literary style. We must remember that first-century Judaism was not merely the backdrop for Jesus’ teachings but the very stage from which Jesus delivered the message of the kingdom. Jesus’ ethics and theology can be properly understood only in the light of first-century Jewish teachings.Jesus' Beatitudes brings yet another interesting insight. Jesus patterned his beatitudes after the well-known poetic style of his day with 8 short beatitudes followed by an 9th longer one. Like saying, "knock, knock" or "Roses are Red…" today, everyone sitting on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee was familiar with the format and listened curiously to the Nazarene's own variation on the poetic form. Jesus used known cultural paradigms so his message was: revolutionary, relevant and refreshing.Notice both Jesus’ and the Qumran Beatitudes scroll use the same format of 8 short beatitudes followed by a 9th longer one.The discovery of the “Beatitudes Scroll”, Dead Sea Scroll (4Q525) at Qumran in cave 4 shows us that Jesus was actually following a known pattern and format his listeners would recognize in His beatitudes. This does not take anything away from the profound uniqueness of Jesus’ beatitudes as only the format and structure is the same but the words are unique. The BeatitudesText 4Q525 is written in an elegant and refined hand (see PAM 40.611, 40.614, 40.617, 40.969, 41.412, 41.520, 41.678, 41.788, 41.866, 41.917, 41.949, 42.441, 42.511, 42.908, 43.595, 43.596, 43.600). The script looks like early Herodian (Puech has reached this conclusion; 1991, 83). The series of five beatitudes found in fragment 2, column ii, catch immediately the reader’s attention. They recall the famous collections of beatitudes in Matthew 5:3–10 and Luke 6:20–23 (see DJG, Sermon on the Mount). However, unlike the NT makarisms, the Qumran beatitudes do not tell us why the person in question is blessed (Viviano 1992, 53–54). The Qumran beatitudes remind us even more of those found in Sirach 14:20–27 and in Proverbs 3:13 and 8:32, 34, which, unlike the NT makarisms, also have “the pursuit of wisdom [ḥwkmh]” as a theme. “Blessed is the man who attains wisdom and walks in the law of the Most High” (frag. 2 ii 3–4; cf. Viviano 1993, 76).” (Dictionary of New Testament Background, C. A. Evans, W. J. Porter, Beatitudes, p151, 2000 AD)The use of vocabulary in 4Q525 strongly suggests that it is a Qumran sectarian document. Several words are employed in this work that have a Qumranian flavor. They are not necessarily unique to Qumran, but they occur with lesser frequency in the OT. Moreover, several of them are key words in Qumran theology. The terms ˓wlh (“injustice,” frag. 2 ii 7; frag. 4 i 10; frag. 10 i 4), ˓nwh (“humility,” frag. 2 ii 6; frags. 8–9 i 4; frag. 14 ii 20; frag. 26 i 2), sn˓ (“to be humble,” frag. 4 i 10), hlk tmym (“to walk perfectly,” frag. 4 i 10), twkhh (“chastisement,” frag. 4 i 9), hmt tnynym (“poison of snakes,” frag. 15 i 4) and ˒bny ḥpṣ (“stones of desire,” frag. 2 iii 3), which we find in 4Q525, all occur with more frequency in the Qumran sectarian literature than they do in the OT. Also, the particular phrase drk(y) ˓wlh (“the way[s] of injustice,” frag. 2 ii 2) and the idiomatic expression b˒nwt nps̆w (“in the humility of his soul,” frag. 2 ii 6) are not used in the OT, but they do occur in 4Q525 as well as in the Qumran sectarian documents.” (Dictionary of New Testament Background, C. A. Evans, W. J. Porter, Beatitudes, p152, 2000 AD)Abunan D'bashemaya|‘Our Father Who Is In The Heavens’ [Tefillah of HaShem]The Lord's Prayer, (G.A. תפילה דיי - tefíllah dəʾadônay), likewise known as Pater Noster or ‘Our Father’, alternatively Abun d-bashmayo in the Syriac Orthodox liturgy, is considered central to Christianity and which, according to the New Testament, Jesus taught to his disciples (Matt. 6:9-13; Luk. 11:2-4). Two versions of this prayer are recorded in the synoptic Gospels: a longer form within the Sermon on the Mount narrative in the Matthew's Gospel, and a shorter form in the account recorded by Luke. There is now a retro-back translated reconstruction of the original Lord's prayer into Galilean Aramaic, a process which was carefully undertaken by Steve Caruso at Aramaic Designs. I added some additional modifications myself:“Our Father who art in the heavens!“Sacred be thy name.”“Come thy kingdom.”“Fulfilled be thine will.”“On the earth like (it is) in the heavens:”“Give to us the bread of our need to-day;”“and forgive us our debts,”“as also we forgive our debtors;”“and lead us not into temptation,”“but deliver us from the Evil One.”“For thine is the kingdom,”“and the power and the glory,”“To the ages and always,”“So shall it be.”However, Some may think that Jesus created a new “Christian” prayer, but that is not accurate. In Judaism of the sages formulated their own prayers and sermons which follow certain patterns and formulas which were recognized by most sects. Jewish students may have prayed their Rabbi’s prayer privately or as a group, in addition to the daily prayers that the entire nation of Israel were praying. So, when the Talmidim asked their Messiah, “…teach us to pray, as John [the Baptist] taught his disciples” (Luk. 11:1), they were likely asking for a personalized prayer founded upon the principles and petitions important to Jesus Himself. Interestingly enough, the Lord's prayer shares many parallels with the traditional Jewish prayers of the time. One of the wonderful things about the Jewish people is their coming together as one to worship God through traditional liturgy during Shabbats and the Biblical Festivals. Therefore, their ancient Jewish prayers often include “Our Father.” Although this doesn't imply that God is gendered as Christian theology holds that God is immaterial and transcends such distinctions.Damien Cowl's answer to Is God a bearded old man in the skyThe 19 petitions and blessings of the Shemoneh Esreh—also known as the Amidah—includes 3 requests to the Father. At the final petition, as one body, the congregation makes this request:“Bless us, our Father, all of us as one, with the light of Your countenance. For by the light of Your countenance You gave us, Lord our God, the Torah of life and loving-kindness, righteousness, blessing, mercy, life and peace.” —Amidah 19But our Father in Heaven is asking each of us to acknowledge that we are His children right at the start of our prayer and that we rely on Him as the one who is able to provide us with everything we need. Our Father in Heaven is the perfect Father to the fatherless. The husband to the widow. His love carries us through the trials and sorrows we may endure. Our Father in Heaven even sings and rejoices over us. The Aramaic word אַבָּא, which is translated as "Father", i.e. Abba, appears in the traditional Jewish liturgy and Tefillah, i.e. prayers to God. The very same term—rendered in Greek as Ἀββᾶ—occurs three times in the New Testament, together with the Greek equivalent which is πατήρ |patḗr|. It is an invocation to God, expressive of a close personal or filial relation of the speaker to God.Christian use of 'Father', or rather 'Our Father', stems from the New Testament. What this shows is that, in admitting proselytes to membership in the new faith, they were declared to be the children of God while addressing Him as "Abba/Pater." But the interesting thing is there is nothing particularly Christian about this. It was a prayer formula for addressing God which happened to be familiar to Jews, especially those living in the early 1st century A.D.Abba is a form of ab, meaning "father" in many Semitic languages. It is used as a given name, but was also used as a title or honorific for religious scholars or leaders. Intriguingly, the word abbot is derived from the same root as well. There is are a few articles about this on the Jewish Encyclopedia website.ABBA - JewishEncyclopedia.com—In Theology: The Aramaic word for "Father," "my Father," which, together with the Greek equivalent, occurs three times in the New Testament. It is an invocation to God, expressive of a close personal or filial relation of the speaker to God. It is found in Mark, xiv. 36, the parallel passage, Matt. xxvi. 39, having only the Greek words "my Father." Paul, in Rom. viii. 15 and Gal. iv. 6, shows that, in admitting proselytes to membership in the new faith, they were declared to be the children of God while addressing Him as "Abba, Father." But there is nothing specially Christian about this. It was the formula for addressing God most familiar to Jewish saints of the New Testament times: ( Ta'anit , 23 b ) "To Ḥanan, the grandson of Onias, the children came during a great drought, crying, 'Abba [Father], give us rain!' whereupon the saint prayed: 'O Ruler of the world, for the sake of these little ones who can not discriminate between the Abba [the Father] who giveth rain and the Abba [the father] who can only pray for, but can not give, rain, hear my prayer!'—and behold rain came". Of Onias, the grandfather of Ḥanan, we read (Ta'anit, 23 a ) that he prayed to God, saying: "Lord, I am as a son in Thy house, and by Thy great name I beseech Thee, nor will I leave this spot until Thou hast shown mercy to Thy children and granted my request." Then Simon ben Sheṭaḥ, the leader of the Pharisees, said to Onias: "I would excommunicate thee for thine irreverent mode of prayer, were it not that before God thou art a privileged son, who sayeth to his father, 'Abba, do this and do that for me,' and the father granteth him whatever he wisheth." Father in Prayer. Thus, in Tanna debe Eliyahu R.ix.Elijah addresses the Lord as "My Father in heaven." Compare the expression "My Father in heaven" in a Midrash of the Hadrianic time, Mek., Yithro, 6, and elsewhere. Likewise in Mishnah, v. 1, Bab. Gem. 30 b , Ber. v. 1: "The ancient Ḥasidim spent an hour in silent meditation before the prayer so as to put their hearts in the right relation to their Father in heaven." Almost the same expression is found in the Apostolic Constitutions, vii. 24: "Pray thrice a day, preparing yourselves beforehand, so as to be worthy of being called the children of the Father, lest when you call Him 'Father' unworthily, you be reproached by Him, as Israel, His first-born son, was told, 'If then I be a father, where is mine honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear?' (Mal. i. 6.)" For the appellation "Father" as it occurs in the Bible with special reference to Israel (Deut. xxxii. 6; Isa. lxiii. 6, lxiv. 7; Jer. iii. 4; Mal. i. 6, ii. 10), see Fatherhood of God . For the universal Fatherhood of God, compare Wisdom, ii. 13; Ecclesiasticus, iv. 10; I John, iii. 2; Abot, iii. 28 [18]; Abot, v. 30; Sifre, Deut. 96, 1; Yoma, viii. 9; Tosef., Peah, iv. 21; see also Abinu Malkenu , and Dalman, "Die Worte Jesu," i. 156. Father in the Apocrypha. God is called "Father" by Josephus ("Ant." ii. 6, § 8https://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/121-abbaFATHER - JewishEncyclopedia.comThe word denotes primarily the begetter or genitor of an individual. In a looser sense it is used to designate the grandfather or remoter progenitor in general; also the head of the household, family, or clan; or the originator or patron of a class, profession, or art; or the benefactor or protector. Hence arises the employment of this term as a title of respect and honor. When used of God it generally refers to the covenant relation between Him and Israel (compare Murray's "Eng. Dict." s.v. ). Moses is called "the father of wisdom" and "the father of the Prophets" (Lev. R. i.). Rabbi Hoshaya is called "the father of the Mishnah" (Yer. Yeb. 4d). The one next in authority to the NASI in the court of justice was called "father of the bet din" (Ḥag. xvi. 6; compare Rapoport, "'Erek Millin," p. 2); and in the Middle Ages the head of the academy was called "father of the yeshibah" (see Schechter, "Saadyana," p. 82; Büchler, "Das Synedrion in Jerusalem," p. 173, and Index, s.v. "Ab-Bet-Din"). In the plural the word is used in the sense of famous men, celebrities in Israel's history, especially of the three patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Ecclus. [Sirach] xliv., heading). In Mishnah 'Eduyot, Shammai and Hillel are called "the fathers of the world," a title which was also accorded to Akiba and Ishmael (Yer. R. H. 56d). The father was supreme over his children. His power of life and death is attested by the proposed sacrifice of Isaac (Gen. xxii.), the case of Jephthah's daughter (Judges xi.), and the practise of sacrificing children to Molech (Lev. xviii. 21, xx. 2-5; II Kings xxiii. 10; Jer. xxxii. 35). A later limitation of that right is the requirement in the case of a stubborn and rebellious son, a glutton, or a drunkard, to bring the matter before the elders. It was only by their decision that the son was stoned to death by his fellow citizens (Deut. xxi. 18-21). The father could dispose of his daughter in marriage (Gen. xxix.) and arrange his son's marriage (Gen. xxiv.), or sell his children as slaves (Ex. xxi. 7; Neh. v. 5), a law which was modified by the Rabbis so as to make it almost ineffective ( see Slaves and Slavery ). He had the right to chastise his children (Deut. viii. 5, xxi. 18; Prov. xiii. 24), and could insist on the utmost respect and obedience from them (Ex. xx. 12; Lev. xix. 3: Deut. v. 16; Prov. i. 8; vi. 26; xxiii. 22; xxviii. 24; xxx. 11, 17; compare Ezek. xxii. 7; Micah vii. 6). Smiting or cursing him was punished by death (Ex. xxi. 15, 17; Lev. xx. 9).Deut. xxvii. 16 invokes a curse on any one who is disrespectful to his father. The vow made by an unmarried daughter (Num. xxx. 6) could be disallowed by her father. He was not allowed to sell her in slavery to a foreigner (Ex. xxi. 8). To this the Halakah adds the further restriction that the buyer must not be related to her in any of the degrees in which intermarriage is forbidden (Maimonides, "Yad," 'Abadim, iv. 4). The father's right to punish his children was restrihttps://jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/6037-fatherLORD'S PRAYER, THE - JewishEncyclopedia.comName given by the Christian world to the prayer which Jesus taught his disciples (Matt. vi. 9-13; Luke xi. 1-4). According to Luke the teaching of the prayer was suggested by one of Jesus' disciples who, on seeing him holding communion with God in prayer, asked him to teach them also to pray, as John the Baptist had similarly taught his disciples a certain form of prayer. Obviously, then, the latter was of a similar character. From the Talmudic parallels (Tosef., Ber. iii. 7; Ber. 16b-17a, 29b; Yer. Ber. iv. 7d) it may be learned that it was customary for prominent masters to recite brief prayers of their own in addition to the regular prayers; and there is indeed a certain similarity noticeable between these prayers and that of Jesus. As the following extracts from the Revised Version show, the prayer in Luke is much shorter than that in Matthew, from which it differs, too, in expression. Possibly both were in circulation among the early Christians; the one in Matthew, however, is of a later origin, as is shown below: Matthew. Luke. Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven so on earth. Thy Kingdom come. Give us this day our daily [Greek: apportioned or needful] bread. Give us day by day our daily [apportioned] bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And forgive us our sins: for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [Addition in many manuscripts: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.] And bring us not into temptation. The prayer is a beautiful combination or selection of formulas of prayer in circulation among the Hasidæan circles; and there is nothing in it expressive of the Christian belief that the Messiah had arrived in the person of Jesus. On the contrary, the first and principal part is a prayer for the coming of the kingdom of God, exactly as is the Ḳaddish , with which it must be compared in order to be thoroughly understood. Original Form and Meaning. The invocation "Our Father" = "Abinu" or Abba (hence in Luke simply "Father") is one common in the Jewish liturgy (see Shemoneh 'Esreh , the fourth, fifth, and sixth benedictions, and comp. especially in the New-Year's ritual the prayer "Our Father, our King! Disclose the glory of Thy Kingdom unto us speedily"). More frequent in Hasidæan circles was the invocation "Our Father who art in heaven" (Ber. v. 1; Yoma viii. 9; Soṭah ix, 15; Abot v. 20; Tosef., Demai, ii. 9; and elsewhere: "Yehi raẓon mi-lifne abinu she-bashamayim," and often in the liturgy). A comparison with the Ḳaddish ("May His great name be hallowed in the world which He created, according to His will, and may He establish His Kingdom . . . speedily and at a near time"; see Baer, "'Abodat Yisrael," p. 129, note), with the Sabbath "Ḳedushshah" ("Mayest Thou be magnified and hallowed inhttps://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/10112-lord-s-prayer-theOne of the customs that was around during Jesus’ time was the recitation of a Jewish prayer called the Kaddish. What is particularly interesting about the Kaddish is that it bears a striking resemblance to the beginning of the Lord’s Prayer. The language between the two prayers is similar with parallels between the reverence of God’s name, the kingdom, and his will being highlighted. It is said that both the Kaddish and the Lord’s Prayer “spring from the same source,” and so the “essence” of both prayers is the same. The similarities are “more than linguistic” and support the theory that the Lord’s Prayer begins as an “adaptation of the Kaddish” that the disciples were familiar with, “but has been modified to deal with current issues.”Here is the text of the Half-Kaddish for comparison with the text of the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-10) above:“May his great name be magnified and made holy (amen) in the eternity which he created in his will. And may he establish his kingdom in your lifetime and during your days and in the lifetime of all of the House of Israel, swiftly and soon. Now say Amen. And may His great name be blessed for ever and ever. May He be blessed, praised, beautified, exalted, lifted up, adorned, raised up on high, and worshiped, Blessed be He. Over all blessings, songs, and praises and sorrows declared on earth. Now say Amen.”Why use the Kaddish when teaching the disciples a new way to pray? For hundreds of years the Jews had been petitioning God, in this prayer, to establish the coming kingdom during their lifetime, but it wasn’t until Jesus introduced the Lord’s Prayer that the coming kingdom took on a new meaning. In teaching the disciples a new way to pray, Jesus revised the Kaddish they were familiar with to show the Jews that the kingdom was indeed coming soon and it was going to happen in their lifetime. He not only gave us an example to follow, but he showed them the answer to the prayer the Jews had been praying for hundreds of years.Nabeel Quereshi vs. Ben ShapiroWhy did we pick a fight with Rabbinic Judaism? (Pod For Israel)The True Meaning of ChristmasMessianic Jewish HistoryThe Antichrist and The Orthodox Jewish MessiahWhen he began his adult ministry, Jesus would have cut a familiar figure. He fit the pattern of miracle-working prophets like Elijah and Elisha. He also fit the pattern of the many great rabbis and teachers who were emerging amid the tumult of that time. The great Rabbi Hillel lived in Jerusalem during the time of Herod, probably just before Jesus’s birth. The Rabbis Akiva, Tarfon, and Gamaliel, also giants in Jewish thought, emerged shortly after his death. Rabbi Hanina ben Dosa was a first-century healer rabbi and miracle worker who also lived in Galilee, about ten miles north of Nazareth.Like Jesus, Hanina chose a life of poverty. Like Jesus, he showed relatively little interest in legal and ritual matters, and concentrated on moral and spiritual questions. For example, Hanina teaches, “Any man whose fear of sin precedes his wisdom, his wisdom will endure; but if his wisdom precedes his fear of sin, his wisdom will not endure. “ Like Jesus, Hanina could fall into spiritual trances. There is a story of him praying so deeply that he was bit by a poisonous snake and did not notice. He didn’t die, but the snake did. “It is not the snake that kills, but sin,” he told his followers The adult Jesus seems at first in league with these other great teachers. He preserves the core of Judaism. His great commandment that you shall love your God with all your strength and love your neighbour as yourself comes straight out of Deuteronomy and Leviticus. But ultimately he stands apart from these figures. Jesus is not presenting himself as just another kind and learned rabbi. There is a story he tells about his own person that is different, more powerful and bizarre. He doesn’t fit into any group in the culture wars of his day. He sometimes offends the Pharisees and the Sadducees, but other times wins them over. He is uncategorizable. He transcends the fractious din.He is somehow playing a different game. He is taking all the traditional categories of Jewish thought and somehow seeing them differently, from a different vantage point, and fusing them together in new ways. He is at once a product of his time, but he is also offering a new paradigm, sparking a new gospel, and so is standing beyond his time. For example, all Jews refer to God as Abba, i.e. “the Father.” But when other Jewish groups do it, it sounds like a communal father, the founder and LORD of their people. When Jesus speaks of the Father it feels different. There is a direct mystical intensity to it—my own father. As Amy-Jill Levine puts it, when Jesus talks to Abba in Gethsemane “his address is entirely personal. He is not speaking on behalf of anyone but himself.” The category of Abba is transformed. The Refraction of Jewish IdeasAll Jews speak of a Messiah. But for Jews the word has a clear historical meaning. The messiah will bring about an earthly paradise in which nation will not lift up sword against nation. The Jewish messiah brings an end to politics and an end to history. Jesus the Messiah is a redeeming messiah, a healing messiah, one who casts out demons. In the healing of the sick, the raising of the dead, and the forgiveness of sin, Jesus provides a foretaste of the paradise to come. The category of the Messiah is transformed.Similarly, all Jews speak of purity and sanctification. For other Jews it was the tangible purity in the here and now, enacted physically on the outside. Jesus tends to speak from a purity that happens within. “There is nothing outside a person, entering in, that can defile one, but what comes out from a person defiles the person” (Mark 7:15). When we tell the story of the miracle at Cana, the turning water into wine, we always focus our attention on the wine. But in the Jewish context the water may have been the more important element, Chilton argues. The waters Jesus transformed were waters of purification. By turning them into wine, and having people consume them during the festivities, Jesus was demonstrating that purity could happen from the inside. The category of purity is also transformed. There’s one final truth that becomes clear about Jesus when you see him through the Messianic lens: He was a total badass. He lived in a crowded, angry world, and yet took on all comers from all sides. He faced stoning in Nazareth. He took on the debt-laden elite in Capernaum and ridiculed their banquets. John the Baptist was beheaded after he attracted a mass following. Jesus, undeterred, did the same thing and courted the same early death. “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace but a sword,” he declared, “For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother….And a man’s foes shall be they of his household” (Matthew 10:34–36). He was a prince of peace with a flair for conflict.Chilton describes the contradictions admirably in his book Rabbi Jesus: “What a weird combination he was! Both humble and proud, overflowing with compassion but adamant in his assertions of the terrible judgment of God. He seemed lost at times, the direction of his life unclear, but he then could turn around and flaunt his prophetic conviction. His certainties could be frightening.”His climactic confrontation at the temple was in character. Jesus entered Jerusalem at a time of power jostling between Roman and Jewish elites. Pilate’s power was ebbing. He had lost a mentor and protector back in Rome, who had fallen out of Caesar’s favour. The high priest of the temple, Caiaphas, took advantage of the moment to strengthen his position. The temple was the great gathering spot where people brought their animals for sacrifice. But the vast throng of animals produce piles of dung, which defiled the grounds. Pilgrims often lost their own animals amid the throng. So Caiaphas ruled that henceforth animals would not be brought from home; they’d be purchased in the Great Court. This was commerce that Caiaphas could control. When Jesus came to the Great Court and saw the new policy in place, he was appalled. He made a whip out of short cords and drove the merchants out of the temple, putting himself in direct conflict with Caiaphas and his police.Essentially what Jesus did was this: He walked into a complex network of negotiated and renegotiated settlements between various factions of the Jerusalem elite, and he challenged them in a stroke. We all know the story of the overturned tables in the temple, but when you see it from the perspective of Jewish history of that moment, you realize how many powerful parties Jesus was confronting all at once. His boldness is stunning.Or maybe there’s a better way to put it. When you see Jesus from the perspective of Jewish history of that moment, you see how many power structures he was simply circumventing. He was bringing access to the kingdom directly to the poor. He was offering a triumph directly to the downtrodden and outcast. There was a fractious social structure—a logic of contention in which a thousand factions and powers engaged themselves in an intricate and violent dance. He fit in with none, but pierced through them all.The Jerusalem lens gives us one way of seeing Jesus, like the Florence lens, the Managua lens, or the Oxford lens. But in one important way the Jerusalem lens is different from all the other lenses. It is the one on which all the other lenses depend. That’s because it is the prism within which the historical Jesus lived his actual life. It is the lens all of Jesus’s disciples used to see Jesus because they were Jews encountering another Jew.Christianity does not supersede Judaism. It does not replace it. But Judaism does precede Christianity and make it possible. There is no Jesus without Jews. There is no Son of God without God, who is the God of the Israelites. There are no beatitudes without the Ten Commandments and the 613 mitzvot. There is no Last Supper without Passover. There is no way to meet Jesus except as the Jew he was, one chosen among the chosen people.Jesus is inherently mysterious—a lion who is also a lamb. But he is also intelligible. And that’s because he lived an actual life in an actual historical context. Through the Jerusalem lens you see what a maelstrom that context was, with mud and sticks and stones and spears and insults and prophecy flying in all directions. You see Jesus up to his waist in the muck of it all. And yet you also see the powerful and ultimately triumphant word of God, which had been passed to the disciples and all the Israelites, friend and foe, through the Torah. Jesus is amid the muck and armed with the Word, and yet emerges as a figure ultimately alone—a vortex of spiritual forces converging in one person, no one else quite like him.The Bible is a collection of religious texts or scriptures sacred to Christians, Jews, Samaritans, Rastafari and others. Thanks to the spread of Christianity, it has become one of the most fundamental works, perhaps it is even key to understanding western civilization. Indeed, the Bible is a book like no other. It's a magnificent intertwining of poetry, philosophy, theology, history and moral truth. This sacred text can arguably be considered the most influential book ever published. It has influenced the way we think, our moral and spiritual beliefs, and it's impact can be seen worldwide. The Bible has also influenced English society through its impact on our language, on the words we use. Over 22,000 English words have their root in Hebrew. That's more than the roots of Greek, Latin, and French. According to The Guinness Book of World Records, since 1815 the Bible has sold approximately 2.5 billion copies and has been translated into more than 2,200 languages or dialects. However, it's true nature lies in the oral and scribal traditions of the Ancient Near-East.Thus we need to read it with the culture and time periods in mind. Something which I think many fail to understand is that the Old Testament, also known as the Hebrew Bible or the Tanakh (תָּנָ״ךְ‎, tānáḵ), which is sometimes also referred to as the Miqra (מִקְרָא, miq'rā), was not written from a western 21st century perspective. First off, the Bible is not a book but rather a collection of a number of individual texts. The Hebraic scriptures are comprised of the compiled volumes in their original Hebrew form, as according to the Jewish Orthodox Canon, which is believed to have existed between 8th-7th centuries B.C. and the 2nd-1st centuries B.C.What is the Tanakh? The Hebrew word itself is an acronym referring to the three separate divisions of the biblical canon into the 1. Torah (תּוֹרָה‎, “teachings”), 2. Neviim (נְבִיאִים,‎ “prophets”), and 3. Ketuvim (כְּתוּבִים‎, “writings”), which are the three major sections of the Hebrew Bible. The Tanakh is the founding document of the people of Israel, describing their origins, history and the complex mechanisms within Israelite society.Divisions, Why Is the Torah Divided into Five Books?, Torah Scroll Collection, The Dead Sea Scrolls|Qumran DatabaseThese texts are almost exclusively in Biblical Hebrew, with a few passages in Biblical Aramaic instead (in the books of Daniel and Ezra, the verse Jeremiah 10:11, and some single words), and form the basis of textual material for the entire Christian Old Testament. The Hebrew Bible (Rabbinic edition) consists of 24 books total, which are essentially divided to equate for the same material found in the 39 books of the Protestant edition. There are also numerous extra-biblical sources, such as the apocrypha. The apocryphal books of the Bible, also referred to as Biblical Apocrypha (Greek: ἀπόκρυφος, apókryphos lit. 'hidden') are a collection of ancient texts thought to have been written some time between 200 B.C. and 400 A.D.Scribal TraditionsThe whole completed set of canonical Hebraic writings, known as the Sefer Torah, usually adds up to roughly around sixteen scrolls in total. Hebrew scrolls (סְפָרִים, səfarím) are traditionally made of parchment or sheepskin and written by a professional scribe, which is referred to as a Sofer, using quil and kosher ink. These scrolls were used by synagogues throughout Southern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and each region has subtly different scribal traditions. Scrolls are made from animal skin, and the color is determined by the type of animal and method of curing the skin. The methods and animals used depend on the local resources, so color gives us a clue about where the scroll originally came from. For example, scrolls with a deep red color usually come from North Africa. As the scroll ages, the color may either fade or deepen slightly, but remains largely the same. The final parchment is called either gevil or klaf depending on the quality and preparation method. Many hides were needed to make the larger Torah scrolls. These hides get sewn together to form the full scroll. You can easily see the stitching on the back of such scrolls. The experience changed my life. I realized I knew nothing about ancient Judea, and decided to immerse myself in it. I studied biblical Hebrew and began a collection of Hebrew scrolls. a pile of Torah scrolls Each scroll is between 100 to 600 years old, and is a fragment of the Torah . These scrolls were used by synagogues throughout Southern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. As we’ll see in a bit, each region has subtly different scribal traditions. But they all take their Torah very seriously. The first thing that strikes me about a scroll is its color. The four scrolls below show the range of colors scrolls come in: 4 Torah scrolls side by side with different ages My largest scroll is about 60 feet long. Here I have it partially stretched out on the couch in my living room: Torah scroll stretched out on couch The scroll is about 300 years old, and contains most of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. A complete Torah scroll would also have Genesis and Deuteronomy and be around 150 feet long. Sadly, this scroll has been damaged throughout its long life, and the damaged sections were removed. As you can imagine, many hides were needed to make these large scrolls. These hides get sewn together to form the full scroll. You can easily see the stitching on the back of the scroll: back of a Torah scroll Also notice how rough that skin is! The scribes (for obvious reasons) chose to use the nice side of the skin to write on. Here is a front end, rotated view of the same seam above. The hide in this image is pretty large and holds five columns of text: 5 panels of parchment But this hide is smaller and holds only three columns: 3 panels of parchment The coolest part of these scrolls is their calligraphy. Here’s a zoomed in look on one of the columns of text above: zoomed in Hebrew Torah scroll There’s a lot to notice in this picture: The detail is amazing. Many characters have small strokes decorating them. These strokes are called tagin (or crowns in English). A bit farther down the page we’ll see different ways other scribal traditions decorate these characters. Because of this detail in every letter, a scribe (or sopher ) might spend the whole day writing without finishing a single piece of parchment. Thttps://izbicki.me/blog/ancient-hebrew-torah-scrolls.htmlThe ancient scribes of the Holy Land were a small minority in an overwhelmingly illiterate and oral-based culture. It was these scribes who formatted the oral traditions of the Jewish people into scrolls. Scribes would sometimes edit independent narrations into books and also created new compositions. Some of these scribes appear to have belonged to the priestly class, a landless tribe with the time and resources to become engaged in scholarly matters. Other scribes, such as the record-keepers, “historians,” and letter-writers in the royal palaces and urban administrative centers, were affiliated with the ancient equivalent of professional guilds.Modern scholars are divided concerning the existence of scribal schools in Israel during the Iron Age (1200–539 B.C.E.). But the eventual standardization of the Hebrew letter forms and writing system between the eighth and sixth centuries B.C.E. would presumably have given rise to codified rules and principles of language that scribes would then have learned. The education of scribes in ancient Israel was supported at least in part by the state and the Temple cult, although some scribal arts could have been taught within a small number of families. Our best evidence for scribal activity in ancient Judaism, and its relation to the Hebrew Bible, comes from the witness of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Discovered beginning in 1947 and dating from approximately 250 B.C.E. to 68 C.E., the Dead Sea Scrolls from Qumran have yielded copies of every “biblical” book except Esther, and multiple copies and versions of certain books, such as Psalms, Deuteronomy, and Isaiah. Some 220 of the 980 scrolls recovered from the caves along the northwest shore of the Dead Sea are “biblical,” meaning they contain fragments of what would later become the Hebrew Bible. The fact that scribes, editors, and copyists were not wedded to “authenticity,” or to the idea that word-for-word accuracy maintained the sacredness of a text, is clear in the innumerable variations in the early source materials that eventually became known as “the Bible.” This explains why the Hebrew text of Gen 1:2 states that “God ceased on the seventh day,” while the Septuagint and other ancient versions (the Samaritan and the Peshitta) reflect a text that says, “God ceased on the sixth day.” Similarly, the Masoretic Text of Exod 1:5 states that 70 descendants of Jacob came down to Egypt, while the Septuagint, two Dead Sea Scroll fragments, and some other witnesses offer the number 75. In most versions of Isa 6:2, the word “holy” is found three times, but the great Isaiah Scroll from Qumran translates it only twice: “Holy, holy is the LORD of hosts.” A careful comparison of the biblical text’s ancient attestations shows such “small” variations in virtually every verse, indicating that copyists through the late Second Temple period did not view themselves as Xerox machines or believe that they must reproduce texts exactly and precisely.Who Wrote the Bible?Dr. Michael S. In most such cultures, people were not expected to memorize the “text” exactly, but had the liberty to switch around elements of the story, to embellish, to adjust length for particular performance contexts, and certainly to paraphrase. This may help explain why even when written down, “biblical texts” were much more flexible in their contents and phraseology than we might have imagined.Indeed, we can even point to examples from the Dead Sea Scrolls, such as the Genesis Apocryphon and Jubilees, which translate the “Bible” and rewrite it extensively. These too reflect a milieu in which texts that became the Bible were extremely flexible. This means that the Bible does not rely on, nor is it concerned with, any sort of exact inerrent precision to detail, all that matters is that the general message gets across. It is inspired, God didn't write it, people under the influence of God did. The problem with pastors is that they make the Bible into something it never claimed to be. Textual variants are entirely to be expected, that's just a part of the well-established scribal traditions. Moreover, just because different scribes have their own take doesn't mean they're corrupting the overall message, rather quite the contrary, more ideas and interpretations, as well as revisions, make the text richer and more insightful. That's not “bad” at all, it's how ancient authorship is supposed to work. It would be very concerning if this were not the case. I don't see any problem with it.Exegesis, Context, and Cultural BackgroundThe Torah is not a book of commandments that includes occasional stories, but rather it is a narrative that happens to also include commandments. The books of the Torah form a large narrative framework, and this begins with the story of the Garden of Eden, thereby concluding with the death of Moses before conquering the Promised Land. This framework points to the unity of the Torah, and helps us analyze and discover the true, central theme of the narrative. This is going to be news to many people, but the fact that you may have read the Bible in plain English doesn't make you an expert at it. This might be confusing, however from an anthropological perspective this makes perfect sense. Ancient Near Eastern cultures are what scholars and anthropologists refer to as "high context" cultures. High context cultures are those that communicate in ways that are implicit and rely heavily on context. This is in contrast to "low context" cultures (such as our own), which rely on explicit verbal communication. High context cultures are collectivist, value interpersonal relationships, and have members that form stable, close relationships. I hold that no translation is perfect and that to resolve certain scriptural issues we need to go to the original language and read the Bible in it's original Ancient Near Eastern context. Most American and European interpreters come at the biblical texts with a low-context set of assumptions and ways of thinking. However, Hillsdale College professor of English, Justin A. Jackson states in his course on Genesis:“If you don't know how to read Biblical poetry, if you don't know the formal qualities of parallelism and expansion, you are missing out on one third of the Hebrew Bible.”Israeli expert scholar Dr. Eli Lizorkin Eyzenberg holds an M.Div. degree in Christian Theology from the Reformed Theological Seminary (2000), and M.Phil. degree in Bible Interpretation (2008). He holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Cultures from Stellenbosch University (2011). Additional studies include doctoral and postdoctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Leiden University, Princeton Theological Seminary and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As he famously stated:“The Bible does not need to be rewritten, but it needs to be carefully reread. Join us, as we discover the hidden depths of meaning behind the Jewish scriptures, sometimes even venturing into completely uncharted territory as we consider the implications of other surrounding texts.”Dr. Michael Heiser also notes:“Seeing the Bible through the eyes of an ancient reader requires shedding the filters of our traditions and presumptions.”Likewise, Dr. John Walton, author of the ‘Lost World of The Bible’ series, once pointed out:“The Old World science found in the Bible would not be considered “wrong” or “false” as much as it would just offer a perspective from a different vantage point. Even today we can consider it true that the sky is blue, that the sun sets and that the moon shines. But we know that these are scientifically misleading statements. Science, however, simply offers one way of viewing the world, and it does not have a corner on truth. The Old World science in the Bible offers the perspective of the earthbound observer.”Also, as Clark H. Pinnock states:“The lesson to be learned here is the principle of allowing the Bible to say what it wants to say and not impose our imperialistic agendas onto it, squeezing it into our molds.”This issue is also addressed in the book How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth by Gordon D. Fee & Douglas Stuart, we read:“The historical context, which will differ from book to book, has to do with several matters: the time and culture of the author and audience, that is, the geographical, topographical, and political factors that are relevant to the author's setting; and the historical occasion of the book, letter, psalm, prophetic oracle, or other genres. All such matters are especially important for understanding.”It's not that English translations are bad. They serve a purpose and you can rely upon them for a basic understanding of the text. However, we must nevertheless acknowledge that the contextual background for the biblical texts lies not in western culture, but in the Ancient Near East. Thus you shouldn't force a low context reading into a high context text. The problem with translations is that they interpret, sometimes incorrectly. What you need to keep in mind is that the ancient texts were never written in English, they were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The interesting thing about biblical Hebrew as well as other semitic languages (such as Aramaic and Akkadian) is that it is very common to find frequent usage of double—and even triple—entendres. An entendre is a figure of speech or a particular way of wording that is devised to have simultaneous definitions at the same time. Because the Hebrew language is an action oriented language rather than descriptive, it is prolific with verbs. When a Hebrew verb is conjugated in a sentence it identifies person, number, gender, tense, mood and voice. Being able to understand these different aspects of Hebrew verbs—while not essential for basic interpretation—it is very helpful when studying any given Hebrew text. Entendres also play into the nature of the language as a whole. This type of wordplay is extremely common among Ancient Near Eastern cultures. One such example being the term נחש in Genesis 3:Now, am I saying that learning the original languages guarantees that you'll understand the Bible? No. Although it’s useful to know the words themselves, we mustn't forget the cultural connotations and backgrounds. There’s also the huge background of Hebrew and Greek philosophy and society that leads to special and unique connotations that, if you do not take into account, can you lead you to some severely askew biblical views. What I'm getting at here is studying the original languages gives us a greater chance at better understanding the context, which is very critical.Understanding The Biblical World: Cultural and Historical Context ExplainedUnderstanding The Biblical World: High VS. It's not all one book but a compilation of independent sources. Some are spiritual, others poetic, and many are regarded as historical literature, such as that dealing with the Babylonian captivity. In other words the Bible is a literary masterpiece rich with deep hidden meaning that sometimes requires an exegetical approach. Knowing the context of what is written in the Ancient texts is vital to understanding the difficult sections in Scripture, so it would be wise if one were to take a step back in order to gain a better understanding of the theological, political, social, cultural and historical context in which it was written. The Biblical narratives include moral, ceremonial and social codes of conduct that are not applicable today. However there are also laws which are not constrained to any kind of historical or cultural background.Religion Does Not Conflict With Science!I think that one of the biggest problems for modern Christians is that they mistake the Bible for a science textbook—something the Bible itself never claims to be. God is both the author of the natural world but also the world of the metaphysical. The focus of biblical points is theology and philosophy, not science. Therein lies the most important distinction we need to make. When science and the Bible don't seem to align it's not because there's something wrong with the Bible, rather it's because we're misunderstanding what is actually being read.According to Dr. Bruce Riley Ashford, “Scripture does make statements that can be investigated and either affirmed or denied by scientists.” However, the Bible often explains things conceptually—it was written in such a way that the world could be understood regardless of how well you understand human anatomy, the cosmos, or the nature that surrounds you every day. As Ashford puts it:“[the Bible] does not use technical or scientific language and it does not give scientific theories. Instead, it uses language that would be accessible to persons who are observing the world from an ordinary human standpoint.”When what we can observe about the world changes, sometimes our interpretation of Scripture has to change, too. In Every Square Inch: An Introduction to Cultural Engagement for Christians, Ashford shows how historically, our interpretations of Scripture have changed with major scientific discoveries—while the Word and the world have remained the same.“. . . centuries ago many theologians thought that the Earth was square, based on biblical texts referring to the ‘corners’ of the Earth. However, scientists have demonstrated beyond doubt that the world is not square, and theologians now realize that the biblical authors used ‘corners of the Earth’ language metaphorically.”Some people see science and religion as mutually opposing sides. However, this is simply not true. Science is the pursuit of advanced knowledge through rigorous observation and experimentation that produces empirical evidence to support or refute hypotheses. It is firmly grounded in the laws of the universe in which we live and has no concern for things that are believed to supersede these laws. Science is about the observation of the natural world. Religion, on the other hand, is more of a quest to aspire to the ideals laid out by a particular deity. It does not concern itself with deepening understanding of the universe we live in, but rather the understanding of a perceived existence that exists beyond the universe as we observe it. Religion is about the metaphysical. As such it matches far more with philosophy, using logic and reason as opposed to relying solely on empirical sense data.Science, properly defined, is not what philosophers or logicians call "Truth". It is the systematic study of the normal behavior of the observable universe. It rests on the assumption that our physical observations are internally consistent, and that if we carefully and systematically study the relationships between various observations, we can learn much of how the physical world around us functions. This permits us to do many wonderful things, we can create buildings, bridges and other structures that will stand up to great loads and traffic for long periods of time. Machines to do our bidding and carry us quickly and safely to distant places, cures for diseases that used to plague mankind, greatly increased crop yields, cheap and plentiful electric power and many other things. Thus, we should say that "Science Works". This is not the same thing as saying that "Science is True". With great scientific advance has come another concept. "Materialism," or more specifically "Scientific Materialism" otherwise known as "Naturalism." It is the belief that all of reality is composed of physical particles that obey natural laws. If accepted rigorously, it rules out not only "God" and "miracles", but also, technically, it rules out a belief in an independent and self-aware human mind. The "Mind", according to Materialists, is an "epiphenomenon" (basically, an illusion) that arises from complex cerebral electro-chemistry.Thus, likewise, a true Materialist will rule out what most people think of as "free will". The genuine power to make uncoerced, unpredictable choices between equally-possible and mutually-exclusive alternatives, and to "force" such choices onto the physical stream of cause-and-effect that is going on around us. In other words, the power to truly "make the future become other than what it would have been". This implies that our minds that do the choosing are, themselves, somehow "outside" or above the stream of physical causality, choosing this or that for "reasons" (rather than "causes") that are not, themselves, part of the whole stream. A sound and logical Materialist will, frankly, reject this idea on first principles. Yet the whole human experience, and the thinking of probably the vast majority of the human race over the centuries, is that we most certainly do have "free will". In fact, most people would say that it is one of the most obvious truths about humanity, and that conscious human behavior cannot be understood at all without invoking it.But all of that springs up from "Materialism", which is a philosophical position, not "Science Itself". Science itself does not ask "Do people have free will?" It only asks "If I (via free will or whatever) pick up a baseball and throw it at such-and-so velocity and angle, what path will it follow through the air?" And that does not require that I ask about motives, perceptions or "free will". It takes a measurable starting point, and makes what it hopes to be accurate and repeatable predictions about measurable results. Science does not say that "If I can't measure it, then it doesn't exist". It only says that "If I can't measure it, then I cannot make any useful predictions about its consequences." Materialism, however, amounts to the assertion that "If it can't be physically measured (either directly or indirectly) then, for all practical purposes, it does not exist". Such a notion is extremely irrational and logically incoherent, one is far better off learning how to develop a first rate philosophical mind so they can actually grasp what "Truth" really is.Are science and Christianity at war? - Common-questionsSome people see science and religion as enemies, at war for leadership in our modern culture.
